Ippo always gets translated in chunks instead of weekly mainly because the editor likes it.
that reminds me,

*goes to ippo subreddit

1222 is the greatest ippo chapter ever

Depends on their editor. For series from the big publishers they only translate what will give them the most traffic hence why no Sunday titles are on there.
I might be wrong here, but I think the last Sunday series they translated was Area D.

I'd argue half and half on that. There are definitely series that are niche like Kimetsu and the like but they're balanced out by Stone which I'd say is meant to appeal to the bigger crowd. Then you have series like Yuragi and Bokuben, and Robo to an extent, which are more "Otaku-centric" though with mainstream appeal. Then you've got your OP, Heroaca, BC, HxH, Haikyuu, and Neverland which are mainstream hits. I'd say Jump isn't as niche as it may seem.
It’s crazy that the diversity is what seems to give me the vibe Jump is lacking. But yeah I can’t say it’s not something for everybody but I’ve said it before, being diverse isn’t a synonym for being good. You said it yourself brah:

Lycopene- cancelled
Full Drive- cancelled
Golem Hearts- cancelled
Bozebeats- cancelled
Act-age
Jujutsu
Noah's notes
Ziga
Kisetsu
Invade You
Other series that ended after he entered:
Marie
Cross Account
How is this not a major L on the eic? It’s sad, the Jump Push is his saving grace. Why in god’s name would you have that much ads for 3 series and not even plan to have one survive?

A bit unrelated, but has anyone seen the trailer for the new Spiderman movie Into the Spiderverse.

It made me think about wanting some full length Anime films in a CGI animation style like that. Specifically some of Jump's titles.
Wish there was more Anime that had CG at the same quality as American CG animation. Not that I want most anime like that, just think it would be interesting.

I feel Like MHA, Black Clover, Naruto and Haiykuu could work really well in that style. If Hollywood really does want to continue attempting animation they should experiment with big budget animated films

It's all about business man. Kenshin is more of a profitable and famous property than generic Isekai harem #687539 and there would have been an uproar if they decided to pull everything from the franchise but with this work? I doubt anyone cares. I feel for the guy though to watch everything you've work hard for crumble before your eyes just because you didn't delete a three year old tweet.
Different companies handling this after all. And one had a judgment outside of the industry while in this case it was a pressure for all sides inside the industry and for China and Korea to do something about it. China even more because it's one of the big markets for anime/manga outside Japan.

The Jump Rising preview was very unappealing when it first dropped. Was even less hype for that than the Lycopene/GH/Full Drive round.
Gotta admit Shueisha did well in announcing Kimetsu, Neverland, and Kaguya anime at nearly the same time.

Considering how his LN shows his racism as well....yeah, no sympathy from me for that.
They're both horrible anyways.
I'm curious about this LN & who it's racist towards.

My biggest gripe isn't that they advertised them from the beginning but more that they didn't make them great, captivating stories from the first 2 chapters. Ziga took a while to get some semblance of a direction. Noah had a hook but it didn't grab me, Jujutsu took 5ish chapters to get good and even then I feel like its a mess. Why didn't they polish the series so that they'd grab readers right out of the gate, or at least try to? The ads might not actually cost as much as we think but they're still effective in making people check out a series on their weekly Monday morning commute.

Yh I don't think his ass will be safe for too long if all the Jump Push series get canned soon.

I feel you, really did want Ziga to happen but that dream is dead. Act age I simply enjoyed the first 5 chapters enough that I reread them and now that it’s showing signs it’s on the up&up, my interest rose. Not sure what kind of series I wanna check out but I’m also not sure if it’s currently in the lineup.

Novelists can't write manga like they write novels, Wsj must let new authors learn to write stories, panels, and progress
instead of associating them with novelists.

I wonder how editors are recruited.

Jump Rising really confuses me. I thought they would do this to all new manga, but for whatever reason they went for these three... It just feels so fucking random, like what was the plan. Ok, so we give these three new manga some promotional videos on Youtube and then we'll advertise them in train stations... Am I missing something?

I agree that they should've at least made sure all the series are polished out. Only Noah has a consistent feel to it due to the mangaka's prevous experience.

I can see they finally understand that Youtube is a threat to them as a magazine, but just putting up some promotional videos for completely new manga isn't enough. A lot of people consume their manga in video format on Youtube or on other video websites, so they could've provided the first three chapters in that format for free on Youtube for their Japanese readers for example.

Every new author should read araki's book "Manga in Theory and Practice: The Craft of Creating Manga"

They shouldn't. It's better if they can come up with something special on their own from their own influences, by doing that, a mangaka can create his/her own identity and evolve with time. If someone's influence is Araki, then you can bet they'll read the book. If every mangaka decided to take heavy inspiration from One Piece and it's formula, that wouldn't end well.

I think he meant that every new author should learn to write well and that Araki's book helps a lot in that regard. In the 1960s, Ishinomori made a book teaching concepts about storytelling and art that inspired several famous mangakas.

That book is not a formula to follow but a guide for their progression.
Some writers can not even write a main character, they need a guide.
I do not think it will change their style or their identity but it will prevent them from making unnecessary mistakes.

On my side I find the blog Shuho Sato interesting with a lot of advice.

That still doesn't mean all new mangaka should read that book.

My pessimistic side think that the new editors were only trained to give cool names to advertising projects. lol
