Can we please just avoid the topic of gender here if at all possible here, there's a zero chance at least one person won't be offended no matter what anyone says.

I've corrected you specifically on this many many times since you heard these "rumors".
Earlier this year I asked about the gender because I didn't want to use the wrong pronoun and because I know 2ch is not a very reliable source. Still, you chose to indirectly assume that I was sexist just for asking that. And now I've been misunderstood again. That's why I'm apologizing before you (edit: or my sloppy way of expressing myself, of course) turn me into an even bigger villain.

Can we please just avoid the topic of gender here if at all possible here, there's a zero chance at least one person won't be offended no matter what anyone says.
Last time, I promise.

Kimetsu's rise always entertains me, especially when you consider it's position in comparison to Yuuna.

Now look at their positions, lol.

Is Kimetsu one of the biggest underdog stories of WSJ? Last I heard was that Kuroko was underperforming until the anime.

Having the blessings of a successful mangaka and a man who managed to create an empire by writing eroge is not an underdog :3c. It just shows that Jump shouldn't give up on fresh starts so easily and that a series can find a following if the author is good enough not solely because of reader surveys. Now if they had just given more time to Samon and Straighten Up they really could have found their niche and even gotten adaptations to increase awareness but they pulled the plug, Kimetsu initially sold worse than both.

Kuroko under performing until the anime is super false, yeah its ranking might be boo boo but the manga has an increase in sale by 10k each volume up until volume 18 where it has the anime adaption. It was selling ~200k/volume by that time. 18 volumes is ~3.5 years. No anime but still increasing in sale.

Was sure straighten up lasted more than a year, surely it didnt take Kimetsu that long to take off. How much more time did you want to give to it?

The give it more time hang on approach, doesnt appear to have really worked for Hinomaru Zumou and RxL in terms of manga volume growth.

Samon and Sesuji had more than enough time to establish a large fanbase, with both ending at 10 volumes. By that time Kimetsu was already selling over 100k per volume, while they were stuck at 30k. If anything, they're lucky that they even lasted that long due to the state that Jump was in at the time.

Yeah I would not say Kuroko is an underdog at all. Its success feels as calculated as Prince of Tennis.

But at that same token Samon and Straighten Up wasn't at the helm of a PUSH campaign or recieved recommendations from famous authors (Samon got a recommendation from the Osomatsu director by it didnt have any lasting impact) so it's kinda unfair to say that. Kimetsu would have ended in the same situation.

You should know by now that both of those series are exceptions to the rule.

Man, I wish they would have greenlit the anime for Hinomaru Zumou earlier and capitalise on the awesomeness of the manga quicker.

HZ has a lot of volumes so it has a lot potential to gain a lot of backlog sales, if the anime does its job lol. I'm not expecting the anime to be as good as the manga but I hope the anime could help it get into Ametalk or something.

Need the 2nd PV asap

yowapeda and daiya no a managed to experienced massive sale increases even though their anime came way late in their life, i imagine Hinomaru Zumou will follow the trend and quadruple its sales easily. The anime artstyle is irresistible and makes it hard to push off checking out the manga again.

HZ is gonna have to do more than just quadruple its sales if I want to be satisfied. I won't accept anything less than 200k per volume.

What's the age demographic on HZ? I know someone posted it for TPN and it was like people in their 20s

HZ needs a recommendation from Noda Satoru (Golden Kamuy).

Isn't Jump's average demographic approaching their 20s now? I'd imagine most series lean to the higher age of readers.

We know the readership of Jump as a magazine, with 25.8% being between ages 19-24, 27.4% 25 and above, 17.6% 16-18, 16.4% 13-15, 9.6% 10-12 and the remaining for 9 and under. I think the target the magazine as a whole is aimed at is the 13-17 or that mid-middle school, high school age group. Stone was said to be popular among younger readers though I don't know the specific numbers. I saw a report saying that a lot of elementary schoolers bought Heroaca Vol. 15 once and a big portion of its viewership/readership are middle and high schoolers. OP is a weird case. Its got a sizable kids TV rating but an even bigger Men and Women aged 35-49 rating. For example, this is the transition from Kitaro to OP for the week of 5/7-5/13 :

*5.7 *3.3 *8.0 *0.6 *3.5 *2.7 *2.4 *3.6 *5.3 *2.4 ゲゲゲ
*6.3 *3.4 *4.8 *1.5 *2.9 *5.8 *2.5 *5.2 *6.5 *1.2 ワンピ

The bolded are in order, Kids rating, Men 35-49 and Women 35-49. The actual household rating you saw on Video research is 6.3 for OP and 5.7 for Kitaro. This could simply mean that a lot of parents are watching these shows with their kids but it doesn't always hold. Nichiasa is also a thing so some kids go there. Even then the older people rating doesn't drop.
