At least he realized it himselfI'm still dying from seiji tanaka mangaka comment
They spelt Tanaka's mangaka's name wrong. Its Amatsuka Keiji. Also, both Alice and Tanaka are from the same Editorial group, the Honda group.Honestly expecting that somebody else have posted it already

This shameless shilling...So it seems this happened.
>Editor: sensei, what's your favorite manga from the current line of the magazine?
>Toriyama: I havn't read much these days (laughs) but I really liked what I saw in Black Clover, the author has a great sense of impact and the protagonist is very charismatic.
I think there's a lot of sense in that. If a series is split between editor's thinking it'll work or not chances are it's doing something new or different, taking a bit of a risk. That makes it harder to predict for the editors but in turn something new and unpredictable could feel very cool and fresh to the readers (it can go the other way too of course, U19 was a pretty risk-taking series for jump with it's heavy politics). An interesting thing mentioned by Torishima in the special is that a series that has conflicting opinions from the editors in the meeting regarding its success has a higher chance of becoming a hit than one that everyone agrees is good. OP was split in whether it would take off with Torishima on the no side but it took off like a rocket. In contrast, Noah's notes was a unanimous "Go" from everyone as mentioned on the wraparound
print that on the volumes please! So it seems this happened.

This actually makes me wonder about MHA's serialization process. It feels like the type of series that would get an unanimous yes, but now I'm actually wondering if there were people against it. But I'd chalk that up to Horikoshi's track record with them. I could definitely see some being hesitant because of that.I think there's a lot of sense in that. If a series that gets the yes from every editor however it means they find it a safe and predictable series, but if the editors think it's safe and predictable the fans might as well. Or another possibility is that it's casting a net wide enough to appeal to everyone (hence everyone agrees it's good enough) but perhaps not capturing any one demographic strongly enough for them to vote for it much.
Given how severely understock it was it probably had a lot of naysayers. This actually makes me wonder about MHA's serialization process. yeah, The biggest spot HeroAca got was at the very beginning and then not much elseIt is interesting how Heroaca wasn't explicitly shown as a hit series in the TV special. They did a slideshow of hit series for each time period and for the 2010s, the put AssClass of course and for the others they showed Haikyuu, Soma, Trigger, BC and Neverland. They skipped over Heroaca. Naruto, HxH, Bleach, etc got their own special callout as series that followed the success of OP.
