I'm a bit torn when it comes to Burn the Witch. On one hand, I appreciate that it acts as more world building for Bleach. However, I was wanting something completely detached from it. The one shot by itself was decent though. I also missed Kubo's composition when it comes to fights. It all flows so well.

It was detached tho. It in no way makes sense to what Bleach was or what that whole universe was. This was obviously Kubo just having fun because they asked him to do a one shot and he thought it'd be a great thing for fans if he somehow put bleach and something of that in it.
Like you take away the last two pages and it's a world you wouldn't even expect to think Ichigo and aizen n all that shit happened. If anything, this gave me such a big Harry Potter and fantastic beasts vibe.

If it’s in the same universe as Bleach doesn’t it sort of create a weird plot hole in Bleach. Like how have Dragon’s never been seen or mentioned there if Dragon’s are also something that the Soul Society deals with

I didn't really feel Burn the Witch. It had that Kubo infused style but that was about it for me. The characters barely have any characterization and I can't even remember their names besides one of them being called Nina/Ninnie or whatever it was. The guy was wholly forgetable and goes on a typical Jump MC speech on how he won't leave him behind. The fun part is that its used as a gag but its still quite annoying without any previous buildup to it. Overall it was average at best and felt like something Kubo drew only because Nakano asked him to do another work for him.

Kubo probably thought of an interesting concept and worked out some details and put in stock characters, threw in some backstabbing and wrapped it all in his "オサレ"-ness and voila. It would be nice if we got a full series with much more characterization but I don't expect Kubo to come back anytime soon. Bleach ended only 2 years ago. He also probably doesn't want to do the hellish schedule of weekly Jump.

Burn The Witch was surprisingly...meh. I know people are only hyping this up because of the blatant BLEACH connections but it feels unneeded here especially given how different it's setting and tone are from the main manga. I know its a one-shot but it feels unpolished like Kubo had the basic idea of it being about Witches but then adds a bunch of unnecessary shit into the mix when it could have been a fairly simple story. Balgo is really annoying and feels forced here probably by Jump editors that there has to be a male MC to appease the demographic. Tone is all over the place and the more dramatic elements of it got undercut by the piss poor attempts at humor (you can only say panties so many times before it stops being funny) Ninnie and Niha had some good chemistry and were fun, Kubo always seem to excel at writing female characters better than most and actually give them worthwhile personalities, the best part of the one-shot was seeing them interact. Kubo definitely feels more alive drawing this than he did drawing the last 4 years of Bleach and the Dragons had very nice designs and best of all...BACKGROUNDS! There were more backgrounds in this 62 page one-shot than most of Bleach's run :cheez

So overall just meh its a one-shot though and if it gets enough traction he can touch it up a bit and remove some of the weaker elements before serialization.

Don't worry about. There's so much about Bleach setting that doesn't make any sense that you shouldn't be surprise there's a secret society in London with Witches fighting dragons with guns.

The oneshot was okay but I do like the concept. It's not going to become a series though sadly.

Burn the Witch was so fucking awesome.
Burn the Witch and Build King are the best oneshots of this year on Jump.
I'm praying that Kubo and Shimabukuro return soon to Jump.
Shimabu will most likely return. I really want to see BK serialized, it has potential.

What other big name oneshots are left now? I remember they announced a whole bunch of them at once but I haven't been keeping track of how many.

Tamura & Usuta are the only ones left

It was cooly and standard, nothing more. I don’t mind more of the same, it’s all in the execution and he should take off with this. But I got this annoying BC vibe with the male protag, if dude screams panties every time he appears he’s no different from MUNCHY MUNCHY or “hey sis, what you think sis” or “wanna fight, wanna fight?” Everything else was fine.

Also avoiding any weebo 4chan spoilers, just some dickhead shit for likes. I was annoyed until the end cause I kept thinking the skinny one was a trap and every time there was an “angle” of her it was hard to look at.

And going off the last page’s message, Bleach sequel is coming, right?

Looking forward to Usuta then. He's still working on "Food Fighter Tabelu" in Jump +, has anyone read it?

Burn the Witch was forgettable. I think Kubo put more effort in the logo than in the writing.
