Gosh, it was only to the titles which are released once per two months :(

Anyways, who are reading Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daisho by Hokuto no Gun? Is VERY GOOD. Very worthy of being the original Friendship, Effort, and Victory Jump manga.

Random thought about the movie discussion of the other day: Kuroko has an animated movie, but didn't Haikyuu get never any movie?

Wat about Prince of Tennis?

Well, Haikyuu did have compilation movies just like Kuroko. Kuroko: Last Game movie was mostly a manga adaptation, so afaik neither had a classic original content only movie.

I'd say Kuroko has one true movie (Last Game), while Haikyuu are...recaps. I should not be counting recap movies since they have 0 new stuff or interest.

Toriko isn't a recap, is it?

Prince of Tennis got an original movie, The Two Samurai. Ryoga was introduced there and was eventually brought over into canon in NPoT.

I think the recap movies actually do have some new scenes in them to entice dedicated fans to watch, but I don't think it's anything substantial.

Yep, what I think. Is like Shingeki ''movies'' tbh. For me Haikyuu still hasn't a true movie.

Kuroko's onle non-recap movie was an adaptation of a mini-series that released after the main manga ended, which was too long for an OVA but too short for a tv series. It's harder to do a proper compelling original movie for sports series compared to battle shounen, I imagine Haikyuu probably won't get a non-recap movie unless it also does a post-finale mini series.

On that note I hope there's a Haikyuu s4 announcement soon, there's a good stopping point now about 100 chapters past where s3 ended (sure it's a bit long for 2 cour but tbh the Inarizaki match could do with being rushed).

That remains to be seen until we see the adaptation. Not putting it on NHK-E or even NHK-G is a missed opportunity but it is what it is.

One can only hope that Hinomaru can be to Gonzo what Soma was to JC Staff (first season at least)

I was strictly referring to Shuiesha's treatment toward Hinomaru during its run here in Jump. Countless cover pages, CPs, higher TOC placements. You can't really blame them for announcing the anime last February. If you look at the sales, HZ is a series that only exists in Jump's fairyland.
I also heard a rumor a while back HZ got a really big first print for its first volume.

~This is just my opinion but if HZ failed to get 2 million Jump readers to go out and buy the volumes, putting it on different channels won't change much (hope i'm wrong).

A slide show everyone seems to have forgotten was a slide show that awkwardly ends mid-arc as if there was no real planning done on a better way to end?

I said first season at least for a reason, where the pacing and animation was decent at best and at least it managed to gather the manga some attention

The first season did a lot for food wars, at least in the west. A lot of people watched and really enjoyed what they saw, it left a good impression (if only they saw the other seasons). Season 2 was covering the best material in the manga and it rushed through and season 3 was so bland/boring.

I wouldn't mind if HZ was like food wars S1. I haven't watched a lot of recent Gonzo so I have no idea how bad this may turn out. The lack of animated PV isn't helping lol. We're really close to August as well...what the hell. At least, the character designs look good.

I have no hope for it turning out well despite the director being pretty decent. Nu-Gonzo is a shell of a shell of its former self and the only reason why they picked up Zumo is because they need a cheap adaptation for sales since that's all they're good for nowadays if they cared they would have given it to a more competent studio.

Like as much as HZ might be a quality series (i've not read it but everyone thinks so), it's not selling enough for WSJ to be putting so much investment into it tho. There needs to be some return at the end of the day for the magazine. The fact that it even got an anime is a huge thing. How that anime will be is to be seen. One can only hope that the anime is at the very least decent enough to get it to sell at least 150-200k. That'd be a huge win.
