didn't preview says something about it will be about a "local" comedy and a tribute to Japanese hometowns?
lets just hope the pompadour is a sign that delinquents are involved somehow
Idk about the Japanese preview, but in the Viz preview it’s pretty vague and doesn’t say anything but “the main character is from Japan” essentially.

So I was just assuming that the story doesn’t take place in Japan based on that.

This upcoming December is going to be quite competitive but this month back in 2014 was absolutely brutal for people's wallets, lol. Besides HxH, almost everything that was huge at that point went on sale on the same day.

This is a discussion thread. Don't post things that can't spur some kind of discussion. "Clean" versions of the cover neither contribute to a discussion nor do they spur on any kind of discussion, so maybe that's why it was removed.

I had a weird funny dream about this thread

someone posted spoilers and the toc and in them it said "new series by Kotoyama" and people started pointing out this is Jump's response to Sunday snatching Yagi and Yagyuu
I however said the spoiler were obviously fake because "this is too good for Nak the hack to think of" :XD

anyway, I should stop reading Dagashi kashi before going to bed

on a serious note, If Sunday keep doing this Jump should play it an eye for an eye and steal one of their artist

I would love to see Kotoyama or Shinobi no mangaka in Jump

What's sad is that, if Jump did get one of their guys, even if the series got insta-cancelled it would probably still sell better than if it was successful in Sunday.

Uh, no it wouldn't. Even the less successful series on sunday surpass or are almost 100k and the ones cancelled on jump don't even reach those numbers at all.

We also have to consider that the magazines have different circulation for decades so a successful title in sunday isn't the same on jump. And the editorial is also way less strong on cancellation.

wait what?

most current-ish sunday series struggle to even get 10k (edit: to clarify, thats is for new series by non-veterans,their mid-range is 20-60 first week)
[edit2: but yes that is still considerably higher than Jump U19-club, just wanted to point that out]

but yeah, a short lifetime of Sunday series on sunday is ~5 volumes while Jump is 12 chapters

invade you doesn't sells better than Komi-san or Evans...
Using one example don't make your argument right, because we can say that in the mid 00s Hitsugaya in the mirror worlds sells like 30k and was axed in 30s chapter but Jump is fulls of 20-30k series like zumou...

I'm not sure where to do this because I'm not sure exactly who I gave the ownership of /r/Jumpmag to. Could that user pm me?

Jujutsu still doing phenomenally epically awesome. Dr. Stone and We Never Learn will be overtaken immediately. Totally aces.

Have you all seen this? Seems like Jaimini wants to try the postcard thing. https://jaiminisbox.com/blog/2018/09/10/vote!-its-your-responsibility-(weekly-voting)-week-of-11/09/

My only problem is that not all the series are up to date, so we can't really vote for them. Also I'm pretty sure people will just vote for their favorite series instead of chapter but I guess that happens in the actual postcard as well.
becuase we need yet another "animetrending" look a like.

yeah, the idea is there but it's hard to properly execute, should they go by latest chapter scanlated? also gap between chapters for certain series is not cosistent making it somewhat harder to keep track of, + batch releases kinda messed certain thing since reading it a bunch> reading a single chapter

but apparently there are around ~3000 votes

also the fact that most people have a series mentality instead of a per chapter mentality make popular series having way more votes

Yeah I'm pretty sure the results are going to feel very samey after a few weeks. I can't see it being anything more than a popularity contest.

It doesn't help that the poll really doesn't work when all the chapters aren't compiled in a magazine. I doubt the majority of Japanese readers actually read every chapter of Shonen Jump before voting, but even then, you have all the chapters in one place. It can take a few days for new chapters of different series to come out, and that's among the series that are actually updated regularly each week. That alone can create biases that can affect a person's judgement, not to mention it means some chapters will have less time to get votes. Then you have sporadic updates, batch releases, and the whole thing is just very flawed from the start.

Not to mention, the way it's set up is really easy to affect the results by voting multiple times.

So it might be similar to Jump's questionnaires themselves in a way. Like putting this fan poll aside, most people don't read the entire magazine and I've seen people say they only vote for certain series when they send out the questionnaires. I don't doubt that you have people voting for OP every week even if it doesn't have one of the best chapters of that week. Of course you have those people that actually read new series from time to time and vote as its meant to be but this is also one of the problems with the questionnaire system which the editorial has most likely found a way to deal with.
