Kimetsu arcs are decently long for each enemy, it'll certainly go past ch 200 at the current pacing at least even if it doesn't introducing anything new.

Also I'm watching the new Captain Tsubasa and all I can think of is that Hyuga would be red carded within the first 5 min of every single match, even at that age they still give cards so kids don't learn to be a violent player like he is doing.

I'd like to see a sports series where fouls are regularly caught and punished, usually it feels like you get one match where a team/player is really good at forcing fouls but they never show up anywhere else.

GFC entry #4 Apollo raw

https://tieba.baidu.com/p/5880692821

author's fav manga: Ashita no Joe, Doraemon
Were the the first 2 entries posted online anywhere? So far, I liked the 3rd one better than the 4th.

As for this week's thoughts: I didn't really enjoy the new end of magazine gag manga, which was pretty disappointing since the one Mammo shared earlier about the pollution gang looked hilarious. The David-kun one just confused me greatly, it wasn't really funny, but the art was alright. The ending for Invade You was pretty nice considering its axed status.

When it was first announced, I immediately thought that David-kun would of been the new Isobe, I mean just by the premise and MC alone gave me that impression.

Guess they want really bad new replacements for Gintama and Saiki

Gag/comedy manga requires quite a unique tempo and execution style or else it won't stand out and take off. I guess these new series are the editorial's attempts at trying to find that unique execution. Honestly though, the editor's input and structuring is really essential to new mangaka that want to do comedy manga. Looking at David's first chapter, it seems to me that they're just going for the stock, penis jokes that they feel might appeal to younger readers. The only unique thing about David was the design of the MC.

The Bleach live action was actually quite decent. Shame it didnt do well in the box office because a sequel would've been fucking fantastic.
Have any of you seen it? How would you compare it to other live adaptations from WSJ?

I thought it was decent as well, I liked it more than the gintama live action(maybe cause I've seen Benizakura arc too many times). It's not as good as the Kenshin movies, but better than stuff like both Death note Live actions movies and DIU.

Unfortunately Bleach really underperformed. Warner Brothers and production team really overestimated Bleach. Summer is always a competitive film season as most blockbuster potential and foreign hits are released to capitalize on a long vacation. If you fail to generate a buzz, you will be cut off by theater conglomerates in no time. Opening a 135 Million Yen weekend won't help, and worse, it fell quickly than it should. The first week is ironically the best to perform since it opened with only Mirai (not a competition). There's also 2nd week from Jurassic and Pokemon, and the remains of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which did perform decent. Enter 2nd Week then we have Code Blue- the most sucessful Live Action in 2018 earing 8.7B Yen, but then the rest should decline normally. Bleach totaled ¥360,000,000, which is bad, but not terrible. And then enter the third week.

With Code Blue earning Bleach total numbers... per day! XD-here comes 5 new films in the Bleach's third week: Incredibles2, MIFallout, MHA, Sensei Kunsun, and Kamen Rider. Two are big hits, and three are playing on 1M line. So basically Bleach window for showing off is 2 weeks, which is considered normal for most films. Unfortunately the sales don't match, so film owners normally have to cut more seats for the movies above. And then it underperformed again with limited seats (generally, movies on 3rd weeks onwards have fewer seats, but the ratio between attendance and seats should be higher). So in just a month, Bleach dropped so hard it never recovered again. Sales barely reaching 500M Yen after 2 months (In comparison Pokemon and Gintama 2 opened with 500M+ in 2 days)

Long story short, regardless of western fans saying it's good or great the Japanese doesn't think so highly as we are. Well at best, it is an average movie. I think 3.1/5 from Filmarks, and 3.2/5 from Eiga. Not bad.

On defense WB did really fine on promotion, and even manage to get Alexandros to perform the the theme song. Unfortunately it was a building disaster from the beginning. When you see a Japanese Movie trailer/announcement filled with English comment (praising, ranting, asking for anime) instead of native once, it's a bad sign. It also opened on 320+ screens, more than or in par with domestic movies, so the conglomerates have a decent expectation for it to perform.

Generally, shonen or manga adaptation are not candidates for blockbuster but Bleach really bombed . Im not sure how huge the production cost, but recent battle shonens/seinen are bad was well. JoJo, Tokyo Ghoul and FMA (It opened really good, but fell way to hard during the second week and never recovered).

The only manga Live Action really did well as far I can remember are 1) Rookies 2)Boys Over Flower 3) Kenshin 4) Death Note 4)AoT 5)Assassination Classroom and 6) Gintama.

In the show:
-There are 18 people in the Shonen Jump edition.

-The results of the surveys are due on Wednesday.
-We saw (but without the sound) the meeting for the announcement of the two new gag series and we also learn that 3 end of series were announced (so logically Gintama, Alice & Tanaka).
-We see the editor of Hunter x Hunter with the chapter that will be present in #43. According to him it is a Dantean chapter (神回).
-Jimoto's author is a man.

Preview (very lq) of new Hxh chapter :

But Gintama did not really end. Maybe Yuragi really due to end soon?

Couldn't it be Momiji, Invade You and Noah's Notes?

I like i’m from japan more than david. I think i’m too old for David’s jokes and i’m always down for more parody.

Yawn, high school renaissance David and the obligatory panties jokes. Why. oh why were people hyping this up.

Though while reading David, I already am picture exactly which Voice Actor would be good for him even if its like a million roles he's played before.

My impression about the new comedies:

-David aka Sekko Boys reminds me in some way to Gintama in the lot of penis jokes, and in some other way to ancient 70s gag manga.
-Japan meahwile reminds me a lot to Sexy Commando.

It was sad for me to see Saitou is still a regular editor and didn't advance at all, editor of Kuroko and We Never Learn, 14 years and still not a leader.
Not sure how much of you know, Saitou face used as Akira Hattori design in Bakuman, but the real Hattori back then was the editor of One Piece.
Well, at least he participate in the big discussions.

can't say much about the new series after 1 chapter, I really like JgJ premise and I don't like David's premise

I have a huge fear that David-kun will turn into the new SW#1 and just stay around forever because MUH 8 YEARS OLD READERS AND THEIR SHEKELS
or be like The Thomas Edison manga and fell into the axe machine with the "Not Japanese" protag.

I mean Edison in Love had bigger problems than the non-Japanese nature of the inventor inhabiting the main girl. Way bigger problems.

But yeah anyway I liked both opening chapters, but I’m predisposed to liking gag manga anyway. Fingers crossed for them.
