Yuuna total blu ray/dvd sells for the first vol is only 3000+, rip season 2 :emocat. Hopefully merchs sell is good.
Multiple times more than what Toriko's peak sales were. So who knows, Season 2 might happen.

quite sure 3K is the new average in this age of discs are unimportant, and many shows in the same range have gotten additional seasons.

Back before overseas simulcasting was a thing, anime needed to sell about 2500 to break even. Generally nowadays simulcasting licenses alone makes up for production costs so Yuuna s1 sales are okay enough to make another (it wouldn't be a big hyped major production but it would be a pretty good and relatively safe thing to do between other projects).

Act age multiple urgent reprint despite not making in at least top 50 oricon make me a little bit skeptical. A print number would be nice.

That's actually good.

That 2500 number has no basis. We never had, and still don't have, any sort of line by which we can say an anime "broke even". Streaming is definitely huge right now and Yuragi did decent on Japanese streaming services, and probably crunchyroll and whatnot, but one of its main sources was always going to be merchandise. The manga got nothing throughout the entire cour, and honestly, I never expected it to get anything due to its genre as an ecchi series. BDs are uncensored so that's one source of revenue. The other is merchandising through figures and whatnot. I don't know how its merchandising game is so far but a lot of the figures are set to release later this month.

I wouldn't be surprised if it got a second season or even if it didn't get one.

The basis is from Manabi Straight, which was reported to have broken even and it sold I think about that much (maybe slightly more but not above 3k).

That was his point. It was years ago when streaming wasn't as big as it is now, so even if the disks only sell about 2.5k nowadays, they'll still break even due to the rise of streaming overseas.

Granted, I don't think using one example from years ago is a good measure.

It might only be one show but it's the only real profitability measure we had regarding sales back in the fansub era. People starting putting the Manabi Line in anime sales lists (to show which late night anime were probably making a profit and which probably lost money) which is why it's well remembered.

Shows breaking even on simulcasting rights alone has also been mentioned a few times though I don't remember which shows/studios/directors discussed it. Good disc sales are still nice of course but they're not the main thing many shows rely on like they did back then.

Yeah the Manabi line is irrelevant nowadays since disc sales have gone WAY down since then and shows don't mainly need to rely on disc sales anymore to turn a profit.

well according to Crunchyroll Conception already got delayed a day so I guess Gonzo is putting all their focus in Hinomaru (or since episode 1 was supposed to air early they put all their effort into that and they're both going to crash and burn now)

Ah, time again for the new(-ish) weekly wonder of "Will Horikoshi return to a normal page amount this week or not?"
(Hope that wonder goes away soon).

NEW 10/25 ジャンプ Heroaca Character Ultra Archive 堀越 耕平
Wow at HeroAca getting reprints 3x in the span of a month.. at this rate it should reach the 20 million copies sold before 2018 is over. Also curious what the above title is...

Sumou did less than Heroaca's 5th week. This is actually less than its previous 4-day first week back with volume 17 where it did:
│*24251 (4)│------│------│------│------┃*,*24,251 (**4)┃2017/11|火ノ丸相撲 17

The anime's effect is still a little too early to call as its only been 1 episode but so far these numbers aren't good really. HxH can't really be called until we get 2 more weeks of data for this volume but it does seem like its on a slight downward trend. Boruto is in a similar situation as well as we need 2 more weeks of data to form a trend. Just looking from its last 4-day week though:

Yeah almost everything showed a decrease FW, HxH did almost exactly of what I predicted, while Boruto had always been on a downward trend.

Honestly expected HZ to at least match previous 4 days FW, hopefully this was just a really slow week everywhere and everything at least leveled out by the end of the month

Can't really expect HZ 22 to sell any better than past volumes when it's first few volumes haven't even been boosted by a couple hundred copies yet lol.

Dont really understand how v22 numbers indicate anything about the animes effect on inspiring people to check out the manga. Seems kind of too soon to think people would have bought all 22 volumes that soon, let alone to have even read them.
