Was the cut content relevant, or should I go to the manga?

Damn, I still haven't watched the first episode....it's like one of the best manga running for me right now. Damn shame. Will still watch though.

There's always a chance that they're rearranging scenes but if its not then this was expected given that its only 24 episodes. On the plus side the show still looks solid.

The only silver lining here is that anime onlys at least are hooked on the series, let just hope that can translate into good sales for the manga

I think they changed the orders of the events.

The episode was great, it have much better animation than the World Trigger anime.

At least they improved up on some of the scenes shown in the PV which is nice.

People shouldn't be surprised that they are skipping a lot, it was stated beforehand we are going through 17 volumes of the manga. The anime onlys aren't complaining as much and it's pretty good for what it is. I was expecting even worse.

Yeah, we’ve pretty much known since it was announced that stuff like this was gonna happen. Judging by the preview of ep 3 that was in Jump, it looks like next ep is a training session with Eigadai (which never happened in the manga). Guess they’ll probably use it to include all the important Eigadai bits they skipped from the first tournament. Unfortunately character development gets screwed, but anime only’s seem to be enjoying it still, and everything still makes sense, if just not as impactful.

Looking at the adaption as separate from the manga, I’m still pretty impressed with the way their handling things, both animation wise and story wise. Especially considering expectations were pretty low going into it.

So can anyone come up with some possible reason for them to try to adapt 17 volumes in 24 episodes? I just can't see why they thought it would be better to skip a lot of material to try to adapt all of part 1.

I think they probably never expected it to get a second season given that it's been a 30k seller for 20+ volumes and just wanted to have the "top moments" in most of part 1 animated, even if that means skipping out on key points. Sort of a last hurrah, maybe Kawada is expected to wrap up the story soon after the anime ends as people have predicted.

Other than that, I can't really think of a reason.

Houshin Engi doesnt make sense why they rushed it that hard.

I cant wait to read the manga soon. It looks like fun.

This manga easily is in my top 10 best AND favorite Jump manga. It is super rare to get this achievement so this manga is MAD HYPE. Money back guarantee. :verily

God that looks awful. What is the EiC doing!? There's gotta be better talent out there at the serialization meetings. That looks ripped straight from French tumblr.

Hey now, calm down, it's a mini-series from the author of a legendary Jump series for the 50th anniversary of Jump. Just like the one-shots by other established author's, it's part of the celebration for Jump. No need to get all agitated about something that will go away soon anyway.

I actually like that style. Seems a homage to european comics (same for the title). Want to know more about the plot, for the moment reminds me to Bakuman, but knowing Yu-gi-oh author, there will be more to it.

I want at least one veteran to come back, preferably Matsui, Komi, or Shinohara. Also for new gag manga, since the one's we just got are alright, but I really don't think they'll last.
