What's the longest time it took until an older one-shot eventually became a successful series in Jump?

We need the serialization of Galaxy Gangs so much
Indeed but instead we’ll get that basket weaving manga everyone one of us have been craving for.

I wonder if we’ll see Masaoki Shindou he’s been hyped for a while and his art is insane for a 20 y/o

I really like that young guy who had that one shot DOGS a while back. And he had a one shot not super long ago. Can’t place his name or the other one shot

The casting is great, here hoping they will take the same idea of the OVA, removing all ecchi scenes and focusing on the plot. Which won't change much, the ecchi in the manga was 90% in the imagination of the MC as far as I remember.

Longest I can think of unprompted is two years between Zone and D. Gray-Man, but I’m sure there’s been larger gaps than that, my brain is just being dirt

Oh, it’s Toriko, isn’t it. Like the one-shot wasn’t published but Shimabu made the one-shot for it back in 2002, before the thing happened

In terms of new serializations, has WSJ ever had its own isekai series? I'm a bit surprised they haven't tried jumping on that bandwagon yet

That seems like a good choice. I guess the My Hero one-shot from 2008 can count as well.

There was that one that turned into a fantasy isekai when the mangaka found out he would be axed and his manga became a meme.

I recall hearing about that one, but they've never had one that started out as and was supposed to be an isekai, correct?

If I had to pick a sport, I guess I'd go with skateboarding. It'd coincide with it being one of the new Olympic sports for the Tokyo 2020 games, you could get a pretty nice array of different characters in it (bonus points for throwing in some delinquents), and I can't really think of any other current series touching upon the sport. If it didn't have to relate to the Olympics, I'd say dodgeball due to personal bias lol

Would My Hero Academia count?

The One Shot it’s based on came out in 2008.

i think we need to avoid nontraditional sports, lest we forget the failure that is hinomaru zumo.

Can a standard sport even do well in current jump? There's already been a great example of pretty much every familiar sport that any new series will unavoidably be compared to, and many of them are still going even or have a very recent re-release.

I guess a racing manga would maybe be less likely to suffer from that? Jump's had racing manga before but I don't think any are current, and otherwise I think Initial D ended so there's not much big name competition elsewhere for it.

What I want is a Kabaddi manga with Prince of Tennis/Kuroko-esque semi-superpowers, there's a ton of potential in there fun crazy techniques.
