I mean Dogashi Kaden was a complete disaster (was the worst ranked already at Ch. 9)

Pajama no Kanojo tho.....ugh. First 2 rankings at 5th place. Then it just died a slow death. And it even had solid sales in Volume 1. Sad it got axed.

Jump is doing really well in the sports department right now with the immensely popular Haikyuu. They've been trying other sports series but they all failed.

Other magazines have also been struggling to get new successful sports manga. Ao Ashi from 2015 is the most popular non-sequel new sports manga in recent memory. Kodansha has the decently popular Sayonara Watashi no Cramer from 2016 and Blue Lock from 2018 seems to have a promising future. What do these all have in common? Soccer.

Sadly for Jump, soccer hasn't worked out for the magazine in forever.

Having only one successful sport manga that has already 7 years isn't "doing really well", besides Haikyuu they have nothing, Zumou is already ending and never sold really well.

As if Hanebado would work on Shonen Jump, isn't even a shounen manga, in SJ would much probably be different than the actual manga.

lol Hanebado in Jump. It will probably suffer the same fate as Cross Manage in 2013

True, and i would go even further and say that Ao no Flag would probably flop on Jump too :P

Soccer, Baseball, Surf and F1 are the sports that I want to see in a new series.

Of course it would flop. While marketed as a shonen, it has that seinen mature feel that would never resonate on WSJ.

What was the last sport one shot that we got here? I only remember the ice hockey one from Amano which was super average

I want a competitive programming manga in Jump. If they don't make one in the next ten years I'm moving to Japan and becoming a Mangaka to make that manga

"Hakutei no Erika", the horse-riding one-shot that we got in late January this year.
Thx, I like the horse design but since it is not translated I have no idea how good it is. Though I do like the concept of horse racing.

I’m not a real life sports fan, so I don’t exactly have a sport that I specifically want.

But I do want another successful sports manga. If I could wish for something even more unlikely, I would like the setting to not be highschool.

Although now that I’m thinking about it, some kind of E-Sport series could be really fun. An E-Sport they’re playing some League of Legends type of game.

Other than that I just want another action series that doesn’t revolve around fighting demons, and doesn’t take place in high school

E-sport would just be an action manga unless the manga will dig deeper into what actually goes inside the scenes which I highly doubt people in Japan know nor care about.

Astra Lost in Space gets the Manga Taisho 2019 Grand Prize.
Holyshit I knew it was good but didn't think it was #1 prize winning good. Grats to Shinohara.
