Whatever the case is, now in comes Beast Children. Will this be the series to break the current curse surrounding sports manga lately and become a hit, I wonder.

Wait, so is the ToC real or fake?

Also, regarding Saiyuki, it's worth noting that the majority of the battle manga which succeeded in this current era have been stuff which tackled untrodden ground. Kimetsu is the exception (unless you count the Taisho-era setting), and considering how weak its sales were starting out, it's the exception which proves the rule IMO.
Can you give some examples? Drawing a blank here.

I hope at least Sayuiki makes on the volume sales but I'm not confident on it. Would love to see the series florish with a concept like this.

And I'm not going to miss david too much tbh. I liked it on the beginning but in chapter 20 and beyond it got boring. Japan probably will be cancelled in Saikyo jump too later on.

Saiyuki has no concept worth praising. Fears become evil creatures is already in JJK and Chainsawman. Plus everyone uses extending, branching sticks to fight. What is the innovation I'm missing?

I hope Kamio sells decently.

If I'm not mistaken, Japan is being moved to Jump+, and the Saikyo Jump thing is just a special chapter, iirc. Although I still agree it probably won't go for much longer.

-My Hero Academia: Superheros.
-Black Clover: High Fantasy
-Jujutsu Kaisen: Urban fantasy (unlike YuYu Hakusho and Bleach, JJK has no spirit world or anything, all the action occurs in our own world)
-Chainsaw Man: Ultra grind-house horror comedy with an intentionally "musicless" tone.

Promised Neverland, Dr Stone and Act-Age are fairly obvious.

Next week and the week after that are the best chances.

But who knows with all these new series starting up.
If Soma ends soon, it might replace it.

I mean, why pick up the volumes when you just read the volumes online? Gag manga is hardly something which encourages re-reading.

Soma leaving to let Hunter x Hunter in for another ten chapters is likely, provided it isn't used to jump-start another batch (And really, what sense would launching another batch be just a month after finishing the previous one?).

Well, better say that to all the other gag mangas that sell/sold good not only on Shonen Jump but other manga magazines.

I would argue the opposite. Tbf gag manga is hard to pull off and it's even harder to make it long running. There's a handful of gag manga that sold very well. Bobobo for instance has a pretty high reread value for me and it's gag. Also I rather much prefer reading from physical copies rather than digital, and others have the opposite preference so it really is preference.

I cant wait for Soma to leave.

These newbies might get lucky if they wait until Yuuna and Sumo end for the next batch. It could save a few of them from the axe, depending on how many new series they want to start.

At this point, Jump may very well do what they did with Isobee Monogatari and give the next gag manga which gains some remote sliver of success complete immunity to cancellation. (Yeah, did you know that? That was a thing)

I like the concept they made with the box thing with fears and so on, much like the journey of the west element is something I like as well. That's basically it.

I havent kept up with Isobee's sales but jump keeps series that have something special going for them despite the sales been low. HZ fits in that category.

Shonen Jump gag manga really do have a ceiling on sales though. Like if you’re looking at best-seller lists we’re talking Kochikame and Dr. Slump, right? And they’re *phenomenoms*. No other shonen jump gag manga come close, or even really turn up on such lists. Like Jaguar, Isobe, Sexy Commando, Kimengumi? All undeniably big deals in Jump’s history, but even the higher sellers among them aren’t like... HUGE in volumes, you know? But they stuck in the magazine for healthy lives because people enjoyed them there. Kind of a sad statement about the way comedy is treated as disposable past the initial response but still.

That being said I don’t believe for a second that David or Japan were getting much love from magazine readers. Like for all their charms the former has just kinda been there and the latter has succeeded mostly as a marketing venture (which is fine)
