I have read it, and my point stands. While it is definitely charming and has its deeper moments, it's still very reliant on gags early on and is absolutely meant for younger readers.
As I've said time and time again, it's not fair to judge a series from skimming the first few chapters. I mean what if you were to do that for Dragon Ball?
Your entire methodology for your so called analysis is inherently flawed.

I mean...that's kinda separate from the point I'm making. The point is that Takeshi or a manga like it would struggle to get off the ground because that sort of childish humor has to directly compete with a source of entertainment which directly satisfies kids like YouTube.

Again, I don't see how one gets that from reading Takeshi. Even early Takeshi.
The only similarity is that its marketed for a younger demographic.

I'd say it'd be perfect for kids. After the first couple conflicts the series becomes quite comical in it's execution. I feel like Boichi was able to adjust his artstyle and make it really "light", especially with all the faces. It's really strange why they didn't go for Heroaca's slot or even Seven Deadly Sins' slot on Saturday mornings. Both those slots run 2 cour series.
Unfortunately that anime block is now gone as of this season (there's only late night blocks on MBS/TBS now), and the committee probably didn't want to wait for any primetime or morning slot to open up.

and Hero Aca's slot is currently in the middle of Mix and when that finishes will be running Hero Aca S4 so unless Shueisha and Toho wanted to delay that Stone couldn't have gone in that slot.

Didn't you lie about reading Toriko not too long ago? I doubt you've read Takeshi at all.

Weren't you scolded by other members not to get involved into discussions in which you know nothing about the subject matter?

Sooooo, instead of actually trying to engage in a conversation with me, you're now accusing me of lying.

He do this literally everytime, and this forum is just a sample, if you look at his twitter it's one of the most pretentious thing that i ever saw, talking about history of this and that without actually barely reading any of the mangas he's talking about, he even made a thread stating that Gotoubun no Hanayome is "one of the most important mangas of the decade" kkkkk.

I actually can't believe he said this about To Love-ru in the thread: "It was never really well-received, but the idea of having boobs in an early internet age was novel and allowed TLR to become a smash hit."

If you feel my twitter threads are so inaccurate, how about you comment on them? I'd be interested in your feedback, especially on my Reborn thread.

Also, are you seriously trying to act like it's wrong to call perhaps the most infamous ecchi manga of the 2000s trashy.

So... how about that upcoming Beast Children ranking?

I imagine Buranchi's probably asleep right now but once you're up, would it be possible to get a Beast Children ToC poll like with Double Taisei?

Beast will probs be another Taisei. If anything, it's doing even worse I think, because Taisei is at least an amusing mess. Beast is just bland.

Why? if you don't learn anything here with the users constantly telling you to stop doing what you do specially about Samurai 8, and yet you keep doing everytime, there's no point and you don't need my feedback about Reborn, you already have your opinion formed.

And i'm not saying your threads are "innacurate", i said "pretentious", that you talk about the history of things without having the knowledge of the time and context but saying stuff as facts, how the hell you say that in the year of 2006 in Japan To Love-ru made success because the internet was on "early stages"?!!! And what it's so "infamous" about original To Love-ru as a 00's manga? it was lewd for SJ but for the industry as a whole was nothing infamous you really need to read more "old" mangas my friend because telling stuff like this really shows how little you know about manga specially things outside Shonen Jump, this is why people keep telling you to stop talking about things you don't know pretending that you know, and this isn't a attack, just a advise.

Damn...... Dr Stone first episode is basically a slide show there's barely animation it's just full of pretty pictures. I guess Bochi get his wish then, tho I don't know if pretty pictures and background alone can give a boost.

Man, you guys are really making it hard for a new mod, lol.

I've even tried to squash a lot of this drama privately in PMs, but it doesn't appear to be working. I don't want to have to get the global moderators involved, but I will if this hostility continues.

@tirakai I thought we all agreed to do the polls on mondays? I can do it now, I guess.

I have the hunch Dr.Stone anime is more aired to West than Japan, but dunno.

In other order of news, Dr.Stone anime was Twitter Trending Topic in Spain. Is the second time EVER I see a anime title of THIS DECADE being Trending Topic in Spain (first time was Hero Academia when the Deku vs Todoroki fight, I think the TT was BHNA). Not even Neverland managed to do this.

Is a very huge feat to me in a country that when thinks about anime, it has a sickly obsession with the nostalgia (for a lot of people only the 90s big titles like Dragon Ball, Evangelion, Sakura or Slayers matter), so I'm happy. I hope what happened with Dr.Stone repeats in the future with some other titles (I hope this happens with Chainsawman for example in the future, but tbh Dr.Stone push is being ridiculous, a push so big I've only seen before in Dragon Ball Super; so I think it has been one reason for it to manage to trend).
