Personally, I think the whole reason act-age is so interesting is because it’s a typical shoujo premise written for a shounen audience. Feels fresh in shounen when it’d just be one of a billion others in shoujo.

Curtains Up! I'm Off is the better form of Act-Age. Wish we could swap magazines. Everything about that manga is perfect, the art is phenomenal as well.

What was the last series to end in 12 chapters? U19 and Poro? Most seem to last a couple rounds before being axed now

huh, it felt like stuff has been lasting longer before getting axed than it used to. I guess nothing actually is at 12 chapters but 14-16 are pretty close.

I know The COMIQ was a mini-series manga, but I am shocked at how buzzless it was and how poor it sold for a mangaka that created one of the biggest WSJ franchises ever still. I don't get it.
i dont think anyone really advertises single release manga, your ROI is so low compared to advertising something like HZ which will always be on store shelves.

The last arc has been a literal chore to read, plenty of fights who aren't really interesting (smart fights have never been Hori's forte) and close to zero stakes compared to many other fights in the series.
That's like, just your opinion. Reception of the arc may be split, yes, but there are more than enough people who liked this arc. You could argue that the pacing was fast with little to no downtime between fights, interesting fights that demonstrated new quirks and new ways to use old quirks and that a competition with lower stakes is positive for the overall pacing and style of the manga since people were getting annoyed at so many school events being disrupted by villains instead of progressing in a more normal way that shows a more regular school life and that it also leaves room to finally introduce Class B more, characters many people wanted to learn more about for a long time.

Also, no matter how split the reception was, I don't think it was bad enough in one way to push away a significant number of volume buyers that would show in sales graphs.

Regardless of the story I do think their will not be a significant growth from MHA, there is no anime, movie, video game or anything announced for it until October. I'm expecting it to go stale or decline from now on. Volume 21 had the same sales as volume 20 until the Christmas boost.
