Wasn't the special announcement for Jimoto the Saikyo Jump thing? What else could it be, as it's obviously not ending lol?
The article says the announcement is next week though. It could be them shipping the series off to Jump+, that would probably function as a decent loophole between not canceling it and not having it take up unwarranted space.

I remember when the ToC first leaked, it said something about an important announcement next week. But with the Saikyo Jump thing, I assumed that's what it was (so it was an announcement for something next week, not an announcement next week). Is there any ToC scan?
Can someone get Heiji to clarify if it's indeed true?

Yui Kamio introduced some pretty strange characters today, still processing how I felt about that.
Yui Kamio's chapter as whole was strange and had a weird flow to it. Surprised to see that from a veteran mangaka, but oh well.

SPY X FAMILY was very elegant this week
Unsurprisingly, Spy x Family was still better than pretty much everything else this week
I really, REALLY hope Spy x Family sells well. Hands down the best Jump newbie in quite a while from me. For someone that only had 2 Jump Square manga that didn't last long for the magazine standards (4-5 volumes for Gekka Bijin and Tista was a big flop), this looks and feels like a work of a very established mangaka veteran! This manga manages to keep the tone up with no problems, fast paced, original, and balances comedy and action parts so well. Helps it's also really well drawn.

I thought about that, but why Saikyo thing then? From what I know, they never had announcements like these when they transfered Lycopene to Jump+, or when Mago, Soul Catcher (S) and IShojo transfered?

Weird chapter 2 of Samurai8, should have gone with something actually actiony or introduce the major plot instead of already go to recruit Party Member No1 so suddenly and in such a slow pace manner. Pacings only acceptable if we know this wont be ending by like chapter 20-52.

For Yui Kamio, I usually don't even mind episodic SOL chapters, but it was more or less that the events in this chapter felt choppy. Just as it had a few good chapters in a row for me, this one wasn't as strong as the last few.

I'm left wondering what weed Shiibashi must be doing.

Kamio Yui isn't THAT bad of a manga as I have seem much worse in this magazine. *winks at Demon's Plan, Lady Justice, Takamagahara, Sporting Salt, Blue Dragon Ral Grad and SWOT*

But for what can be a 3rd and possibly the last shot for him in WSJ, he seems so...unprepared? In worst case he would be dumped to work in Jump+, but sucks that after what Nurarihyon no Mago was, it came to this. Same thing for Toshiaki Iwashiro (who is now MIA after Kagamigami got axed and his twitter posts are basically PSYREN's memorial).

I think it's reaching a bit to call spy x family a jump release, considering it's pretty much a different publication despite it's name, including with different focus with the manga as Nakano mentioned in an interview before

I'd agree with this statement. Sometimes the chapter is pretty good, others are weaker, but if you average them all together, this has basically been "just ok: the series." If he'd introduce characters in a manner that was less haphazard, then some of the zany shenanigans that follow might now feel so choppy

I meant "Jump" as a term that includes Jump+, WSJ, WYJ, Jump Square etc. "Jump" is a brand at this point that transcends WSJ for which people commonly use it for. Which I get, because WSJ is obviously and by far the most popular publishing branch of Shueisha's comics, but still.

Ahhhh, I see. It's because I all the time I see Jump to refer to WSJ, which is why I thought you were referring only to it.

No worries! :)

I think this manga could have been the next WSJ's ecchi harem that would replace Yuuna if the concept was tweaked a bit. Hiroshi just didn't know what to do with it. It started off as a actiony delinquent manga, then became a rom-com with gag elements, and suddenly it added ecchi into all of this!

Double Taisei was great though dont see the long potential of it, whats the endgoal of the story? Shogi domination while tai and sei stay in the same body? Reigniting the fire of shogi love in Sei heart cant be a theme as they just accomplished that in this chapter, so, yeah, unsure what the character growth aspects of this story will be.

Well there's going to be quite a bit of battling for stability now that a new serialization round is upon us, so maybe it has a chance. It may have some leniency due to the author's veteran status and (with David's unfortunately soon departure) the lack of genre competition. However, I'm curious to see what happens next for the magazine as a whole. It looks like Chainsawman will stick around for at least a few more rounds minimum, there's 2 new series & 3 brand-new series duking it out, plus 3 veterans that could theoretically wrap up fairly soon. A manga about following the TOC could actually be pretty suspenseful in-and-of itself hahaha

I mean, by my estimates, we have about six to ten new series coming in the next six months. We...best be prepared.

It's nice. The best shogi series I read but I didn't like any that I read before lol

I'll wait for more chapters to have an idea but I like the dynamic of tai and sei. It's also an interesting idea for this type of series.
You mean restricted to shonen, right?

I'm assuming you've never read 3-Gatsu no Lion.

I hope they don't premiere like 6 new series all at once like they did with the WNL round. That's just a bit too intense for the new series since it'll be hard to for the new series to find a lot of fans like that. I'd say rounds of 2 or 3 are most effective

is already only because they have released 3 new manga along with the new samurai 8 kishimoto.
