The new villains are mainly for our main villains to have someone to fight. The current arc feels like it’s meant for LoV’s development.
So far we’ve gotten
Toga’s backstory and development of her quirk. And Twice overcoming his mental illness momentarily so he can save Toga.
And I’m sure we’ll get Dabi development and Shigaraki development down the line.

The arc is doing a good job showing the comradery between the LoV, and that they genuinely view each other’s as friends and family, rather than just tools(like other villain organizations such as The Akatsuki and the Espada).
You had a character who just existed to give us info on Toga then died right afterwards, this is just terrible and feels exactly the same like the OH arc. Introducing new characters just to forcefully shove things into our faces instead of having a natural progression is exactly what I meant with Hori not knowing what he is doing, sure he knows his story but the execution is awful and lazy

Anyways anything new on beast children?

Does anyone else currently read everything in WSJ? Everyone's talking about stuff they've dropped but personally I love sitting down on Monday after work just spending a couple hours reading through all the new chapters together. Especially now that Manga+ even has the flops and gag stuff in English right away (I'm sad there's no Yuuna on there but sometimes it's out in time to read alongside everything else).

There's stuff I don't like much of course but that's part of the experience for me, it's fun to see all the ups and downs each week together and compare their ranking with what I think of stuff putting them all side by side. The only thing I don't really read is Bort but I always give it a quick skim through at least and it's only monthly anyway.
I do the exact same thing, I also follow the order of the ToC, it gives the feeling of actually buying the magazine and enjoying it like the Japanese readers, it's also cool to compare the chapters and see who gave the biggest impression when reading them all together, I'd recommend everyone to try it at least once.

I read everything except BC, Haikyuu and Japan
Dropped Japan, have not caught up with BC, and allergic to reading on going sport series.

I have the Viz Vault so it's just a matter of time to catch up to these series.

Every single week, I only read My Hero Academia and Kimetsu no Yaiba.
I'm a tiny bit behind Black Clover, and The Promised Neverland.
I catch up with Hinomaru Sumo about once a year. I just like to let chapters pile up for that one to binge in one go.
Like 150 chapters behind Yuuna... not sure I'll ever catch up despite the fact that I enjoyed what I read.
Still slowly catching up with Jujutsu Kaisen.
I only watch Haikyu's anime, although I'll probably hop on the manga at some point(I've still been buying the Viz releases as they come out).
I've read and dropped One Piece, Dr. Stone, We Never Learn.
Never read, but plan on reading Act-age, Chainsaw Man, Samurai 8, Yui Kamio, Saiyuki.
No interest in the rest.

...Still extremely sad about David-kun...

Why do you think One Piece sales have been declining so significantly the past couple years?

I don't read everything since I dropped Soma on 2013, Boruto in two years ago, Yui Kamio this year and I still need to begin Haikyuu and Hinomaru but the rest, I think I read everything.

hahaha I do and feel the same. It's as if I bought the magazine itself.

Maybe changing trends in the industry? It's a shame there's no data on digital sales. It's possible because OP has so many readers, it's the most affected by people switching.

remember the artist that used to draw the viral Pokemon x HeroAca fanart on twitter when the anime was airing?
well, they currently draw Tokedase! Mizore-chan manga on Jump Plus

in Horikoshi's latest tweet about the new Kirishama figure you can see a Tokedase! Mizore-chan volume under it

wonder if he saw those posts and decided to support the artist or is it a weird coincidence

either way, the author is freaking out kek

from twitter fanart to working for sheuisha beside the series they drew fanart for and having his author buy your own manga
we truly live in a crazy time

That's really nice to see. Mizore's actually a nice, cute series, so I'm glad that the author's really happy knowing that someone they admire so much is enjoying their work.

and now Jigokuraku official twitter is happy that Horikoshi own Jigokuraku volumes

people are focusing on his manga collection rather than the action figure :XD
how do people know he bought them and didnt just get them gifted at random from jump?

they don't

but he did push and promote Jigokuraku since chapter 1
and Mizore-chan is not popular and too obscure for it to show up randomly

you can also see a Jujutsu Kaisen volume in his collection which he pushed very recently

Isnt that normal though? Whenever I see a picture/video of a mangaka's volume collection or bookshelf it can give you a good idea of what his taste are. I remember with Togashi's Jump Ryu video I paused it at certain points to see what volumes he owns. It's not surprising tbh.

Speaking of Jump ryu and is there any way to find the videos of other mangaka's? I remember someone posted most or all of them on youtube but it got taken down. I want to see Shimabu's again. I think in a lot of the Jump Ryu videos the mangaka's show their manga recommendations. I'm speaking about mangaka's that aren't as popular as Oda, Togashi, Araki, etc lol.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

I am afraid Oda slowly but surely losing his touch.
Oda seems to be aware of it himself to some extent. Enies Lobby is definitely gonna be hard to top off.

Wano is great though. I'm really excited for the OP anime for Wano after how WCI was handled beautifully.

Went back to look through that, and noticed Goodnight Punpun.

Still need to check out that series.

Disagree there. Wano has been subject a lot of complaints over in Japan, mostly relating to how Oda made the arc too complicated and difficult to follow. The fact that he has dedicated so much time to the story of characters who feel largely irrelevant does not help.

I feel like One Piece lacks the epic moments it had before TS. For me Wano was the first arc post TS who delivered one piece truly epicness (in the last two chapters). This may be a personal thing, though.
Please don't compare Luffy vs Katakuri or Usopp shooting Sugar with Luffy punching the tenryuubito back then in Sabaody or the SWs declaring war at the WG. That was THE chaos.
