But can they do that? If I'm not wrong, it's volume 17 AND a special volume with Gotouge's previous works.
?

if they have enough chapters and apparently they do, sure they can,

the only question is if they want to do it?

this, I remember when Food Wars rankings took a nose dive, Tsukuda went to his twitter to adress it
Do you remember what he said? Also did he ever address the backlash for the final few arcs?

Kamio Yui probably should have started with its newest content. The manga actually has a "point" and a "hook" now, which is very important for survival. Then again, at least white Yui's crush on Kiito feels believable thanks to all the chapters that have gone by.

If i remember well (not 100% sure) this was during a Eizan arc where the manga had one of the first real drop in the rankings, he said something about knowing the readers wouldn't like but as a writer he had to make, basically the fans hated Eizan but the story had to focus in the character at the time, and after it ended the rankings came back to normal.

I've just remembered that like One Piece, Naruto had two consecutive covers to celebrate the "Road to Ninja" movie on 2012 and not only it serves as a full illustration but it was also on issue #34 and #35 too!

Not Jump specific, but I think this may be relevant to future convos concerning sales.

They've always done one-shots from popular authors (Kubo, Amano, Komi) so unless they start doing ones from newbies it's nothing new.
Is it still notable at all that we've gotten three one-shots localized in a row? It'd be really nice if that became the rule instead of the exception.

We got two in a row with Burn the Witch and Shokugeki no Sanji almost exactly a year ago (issues 33 and 34 of 2018) so it's probably more timing than anything else.

inb4 vol 17&18 are double releases or back to back (17 is scheduled for October at the moment) to maximise end of Anime hype.

yuuna have quite the gap as well iirc, though maybe it had caught up ish since unlike KNY yuuna havr been consistent with a Volume every other month recently
Indeed, Yuuna also has almost three chapters worth of volumes backed up but volume 17 comes out on August 2nd along with Chainsawman 3, TPN 15, OPM 20, MHA 24 and OP 93 so it's gonna catch up a bit :)

Another takeshi chapter is out. I really appreciate the translations Kewl. Last chapter was hilarious with references to OP & Slam Dunk. Shimabu being a character in his own manga works out surprisingly well.

Just got in my hands at least the book Jump l'age d'or by Hiroki Goto. Finally a book that explores deeply the most obscure age from Jump aka 70s.

Index would be this:
Chapter 1: Le premier número du Shonen Jump en détermina les grands principes
Chapter 2: L'epoque de la naissance du Shonen Jump (1968-1970)
Chapter 3: La période de l'envol (1971-1977)
Chapter 4: L'age de la conquete victorieuse (1978-1984)
Chapter 5: L'age d'or (1984-1994) (Chapter ends with Yu Yu Hakusho though)
Chapter 6: Conclusions

Book ends in 1993-1994, so I hope they release in France a second book that analyses Jump history from 1994 to 2019, to complete the second half.
