Tsunehiro Date (Cross Account, Tokyo Wonder Boys) is publishing a new oneshot on Jump Plus

regarding the poll question, I don't remember when I started reading Jump series, my oldest reading a Jump manga memory is from elementary school (maybe sixth grade?) buying Captain Tsubasa volumes

but those were volumes, on weekly basis, been reading Jump since 2011, mainly for Beelzebub and HxH, I know the year because I was watching HxH remake at the time and it's when i started keeping an eye of toc threads to see when HxH manga would return and if Beelzebub would get cancelled

picked up OP, Naruto, Gintama and the rest of the usual suspects later, I have only watched the anime for those before

funny story, I was part of the group than scanlated Hitman Reborn at the time, my cousin was the head of the group and forced me to help him, however I didn't actually read it until much later

Does that mean Saiyuki is gonna be No 100? XP

"A sports manga about losers" is all I need to know to know why Cross Manage failed IMO. At least the author went on to do a masterpiece in Blue Flag.

Also, I'm slightly confused on the ST$RS comment, if just because the general consensus is that the modern era is faster. Care to elaborate?
Saiyuki is looking like number 100, yeah! Couldn’t imagine a better candidate.

And you’re looking at the wider image. Since ST&RS we’ve had a bunch of slower, more deliberate titles, for better or worse. World Trigger is probably The Big One, but series like Straighten Up, Kurogane, Cross Manage, Samurai 8, mmmmaybe The Promised Neverland, they’ve all had a lot more confidence in slower stories than what we used to have, to wildly varying levels of success. It’s just that series like Black Clover are so fast as to push the average up.

Like before ST&RS you’d never see a slow series, or at least the ones you would see would die almost immediately.

Your example doesn't really work when most of those series were canceled....

I would say though that series being more methodical is probs accurate.

They really believe on Tsunehiro Date's potential for romcom, i wonder if he's already preparing a new series for Shonen Jump, he has the potential to deliver the next popular "traditional romcom" on Jump, maybe when readers start to get tired of We Never Learn...

I mean, WNL is on January in-story and will conclude on graduation, and with Yuuna being something I imagine Jump is not trying to actively promote, gearing up for a new romcom is probably a good idea.

I didn’t say they were successful, just that there’s been a larger amount, and that larger amount have more room to breathe than others in the past. Them being cancelled is incidental to my point.

And methodical isn’t really the better term. You can have a fast pace while being methodical, after all

What the hell do you have against Act-Age?
This F tier list makes me sick
Well that's my taste :) and one could say those titles are making me sick too XD I usually rarely talk about specific series I don't like, so I don't really want to start a "hate" discussion about that. People are free to enjoy whatever they want.

The 2000-2009 cancelled list

Kain getting the respect it deserves!!
I feel bad seeing both Hatsukoi Limited and Ane Doki in the trash tier but looking at the rest I can totally se how they don’t work with your tastes. Cool stuff!

I'd chalk that up to systems being different, but eh, that's another discussion.

Also, I meant methodical not in correlation to the pacing matter. It's a general change. Even Black Clover is more methodical than a lot of older battle manga.

The publisher answered me for Spy x Family. The number (circulation) contains the digital sales. The circulation is now 310,000 copies.
I didn't know this circulation include digital sales.

I guess this will be the case with all the numbers (circulation) they show.

It's pretty interesting.

Reading SKET Dance, one thing that's stuck out to me is how...off the wall a lot of the gags are, with a ton of chapters which purposely break the reality of the manga that's otherwise in place and/or obliterate the fourth wall entirely. Compare that to the likes of Golden Kamuy, Spy x Family or Grand Blue, which very much stick in the premise of their own reality no matter how insane shit gets.

I dunno, it's an interesting point to consider regarding the current comedy predicament.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I could have put Hatsukoi a bit higher, like D or at best C, because honestly I don't find much difference between those in C&D rank (although Sakka was the most enjoyable of those). The series wasn't really that bad. And considering it isn't my preferred genre, yet I didn't mind reading it, I can see why it can be considered good series for it's genre by fans.

Also, does anyone know when the Gintama fanbook will be reprinted? I heard Aug 29.

Surprisingly low interest (these are the yesterday's releases only) from Jump+ readers in the MHA Vigilantes and Numa Shun's oneshot. Ecchi/harem and Yuri dominating to no surprise.
Just tabbed through the Numa Shun oneshot, and I thought it was really good. Still had that signature artstyle, along with the great mix of comedy and romance. I really hope he comes back with a full series too.

As for the axed series list:

Not too much that I wish would've lasted longer than it did, and I was probably generous making Noah's Notes the last C instead of the first D and not putting Seiji Tanaka in the Trash Tier list.

Doubt it. You can’t really take anything a translation says about pronouns and stuff at face value due to how Japanese rarely uses them, and yet they’re required in a lot of instances to make something sound good in English. Translators often sub them over names or whatever with assumed pronouns without much thought. Happens quite often and leads to assumptions like these. And given the quality of some of the M+ translations, it really wouldn’t surprise me at all.

They seem to have changed "Anya" to "Ania" now (page 19 of chapter 11).

Does anybody know what happened to Yumi Hotta (author of Hikaru no Go) after Yuuto bombed? Did she leave the manga industry?
