I disagree. The different weekly magazines tend to do the same genres differently so that they CAN attract different audiences. If Weekly Jump starts doing romcoms, or adventure, sports, etc. the same way as Magazine or Sunday or whomever, they will literally be competing for the same fan base. They all know this, so they purposely keep things just different enough.

Def looks like they're targeting the Kaguya audience.

So Yozakura will be a rom-com? A twist a didnt see coming based on the name translations around, which made me think it was more gag like. Guess it will be a slight genre switch for the Poro mangaka.
Poro had some romcom elements pretty early on, so it's not that much of a change of pace.

Boooo!

I'm sure the idea is that a one-shot from an unknown wouldn't earn Viz enough traffic to justify spending resources on translating it... but I really appreciate one-shots regardless of the author, so I wish they'd at least test the waters on that front.
Especially with the GFC coming around, it'd be really cool if they translated those considering that the winner will become a serialized author. I mean, there's only like 2-3 that really became successes, but still...

from what I am seeing yozakura and mitama will have the same theme. But the first one will be from the romcom genre (same as jump + spotless love) and the second will be a gag manga.

Mitama seems like an instant pass for me, was never a fan of the mangaka's art style, and it seems it hasn't changed at all since that Swan gag manga.
Yozakura seems like it's going for an interesting niche in the magazine, guess we will see.

But in the end "there can be only the one" I suppose. It didnt worked with David and Jimoto though...

Why are we claiming Mitama is a gag manga? There's nothing to really imply that beyond the authors background, and it's hardly like there isn't a precedent for gag mangaka becoming serious creators. Shimabukuro, anyone? What about Ashihara? Are people just so desperate for a new one that we're now grasping at straws?

truth. I'm just saying it's gag for preview.

But really, the author can change his style as you said.

Not necessarily, jimoto and david were of the same kind, but they were very different from each other.

I don’t mind harem or ecchi. But I don’t really want ecchi in the main magazine.
And I wish we’d get a straight up romance series than more harem series.

Something where the MC and their love interest start dating each other in the beginning, or early on, rather than it be a guessing game of “who’s he going to end up with in the end”.

It’s a weird series, but recently binged Mysterious Girlfriend X, and I appreciated that the MC and his crush started dating from the very beginning.
And last year we had the anime “Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Senpai” where the two leads basically become a clearly established couple after the first arc.

Would want something similar to those series in Jump in the future in place of Harem series.
Bro, I thought I was the only one thinking about it. I'm a weak for romance manga/anime, but ya know how horny teens react when seeing 20 hot chicks surrounding the mc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Sex sells and it give less pressure on the author for writing an story

So happy to see Fuuma no Kojiro being a thing in 2019.

For people not knowing about it, Kurumada Shonen Jump 1983 success between Ring ni Kakero and Saint Seiya. Plot was special powers ninjas aka Naruto 20 years before Naruto.

All it takes is one popular outlier to change a trend.
I’m aware Rascal is a light novel though.

My problem with harems is

1. They’re so ridiculously unrealistic that I get taken out of them. A male main character who who has anywhere from 5 to 10 beautiful woman who are all obsessed with him and want him.

2. Once you’ve read one in completion, all of them start to feel exactly the same. And more than likely the “winner” is easy to predict.

Watching someone pick the other 9 girls who obviously won’t win is like watching those weird MHA stans who unironically ship Ochako and Bakugo together, when the obligatory “Ochako and Deku Bonus Wedding Chapter” is probably already storyboarded 6 years in advance
That's what make quintuplets so amazing and ironic. YOU DONT KNOW WHO WILL WIN!!!! . It's for real the #1 harem in existence. for here it also make Alot of sense why they felt in love with the mc
