Right?!

I just wish the author had more of a plan/clear direction.

It's like he came to Jump with a shogi series, even though he doesn't know or care about shogi, but was aware of just how much they love to publish them (even though they all fail).
Given that the author didn't even hire a consultant until three chapters in, I'm willing to wager you're right on the money there.

Really loved Mission. Didn’t expect it to end the way it did. Don’t know if it’ll survive, but I’m down for reading it every week

If he gets a third chance, I hope he focuses on something that really interests him and goes in with more of a plan.

Way too many of the flops would have had Asano being all gloomy for the entire chapter with some hints then end it with what is page 19 just to try and bait a hook
Yeah, I like how this series essentially laid its cards out right from the start. Much like the preliminaries suggested, it gave me very much of an AssClass feel, and I really enjoyed it.

I don't have a lot of faith ever in Jump's...selection process, but I want to be hopeful for this one.

What you mean by selection process? What sells stays, it's the way of the land.

Double Taisei...ugh. It's just that the manga is so painfully behind Mononofu in almost every aspect. I just can't really bring myself to like any of the Taisei characters at all. I think it's also missing the support side characters that every manga needs.

Tokyo Shinobi has pretty panels to look at, but the story...oh my. It's just so dull and souless. There is no "wow factor" that Jump manga needs to be a hit. This could stay alive thanks to Taisei and Beast, but eh.

That's more or less what I meant. I guess my point is that frequently the stuff that I like is not necessarily the stuff that tends to get popularity/sales figures. I generally chalk it up to cultural divide; things that appeal to Japanese audiences and to American audiences are not necessarily going to be the same.

Yozakura...I liked it. The art was solid and the plot seeds have been put very well. Not sure if I am a fan of the psycho bro.

Samurai 8. I think the manga has a huge potential so I am sticking around, but I feel it still isn't on a level where it should be right now. The art is much cleaner with some shading now, which is nice.

Yui is still a mess. I don't care about a fodder villian's backstory at all, because I can't bring myself to feel/react somewhat to a new random character out of nowhere. Pacing also sucks. The fights feel a bit uneventful because Yui herself was never designed for a horror/supernatural switch like this unless Shibashi gives her some powers to up her game. Like I said, it needs a world building ASAP!

I agree. Reading Samurai 8, even though it's technically improved, it still feels like it's...lacking something. I dunno, compared to the other battle manga in Jump, it feels like beneath their level.

THAT JJK IS STRAIGH UP HEAATTT. Best of the week

Idc about Taisei, it can get axed all it wants, since it has no direction at all. Cant feel attached to the cast either. The only I felt the most attach was the guy that was playing with his blind-fold.

Beast is going near its end, it seems the writer himself knows how dragged the training was for only focusing on 1 teammate instead of the group. (BIG fail, such an mistake doing that in an sport manga for introduction the cast)

For yui, the manga was already doomed at ch 1, so I know it will get axed. The writer is stuck in the past, times have changed.

As extra closure for family, it's a 50/50. I will never forget the tragedy of saiyuki. We will see for future chapters

Pretty good first chapter of Yozakura.
but not everyone knows this, there will be a lot of people who will look at this manga and say it is a copy of spy x Family.
they obviously don't know anything if they think that

So wait, in Double Taisei, is that Haga dude who's staying with all of them right now the same one that lost in the beginning chapters, or was it his younger brother? I thought there was some scene in an earlier chapter, but I can't recall now

I know it'd really have to defy the odds, but I'd like to see Double Taisei last the longest of its serialization round. The other 2 just bore me so much, and while Samurai 8 will almost certainly be around for awhile, it just doesn't appeal to me. I miss Yui Kamio's old ecchi romcom ways. This new direction just seems really strange to me. Yozakura had a pretty nice start to it, and the artstyle seemed to fit the series pretty well. I'm looking forward to more.

Sept 4th Volume Covers

only left with act-age #08 & The Last Saiyuki #02
I...Is that Double Taisei cover literally just a copy-paste of the Chapter 1 LCP? That's...pretty goddamn lazy.

Also, damn, that is a genuinely good cover for Beast Children. Shame the manga is...yeah.

Legit, if Beast is getting canceled soon (and the latest chapter def gave flags), does that mean we'll be getting another serialization round just a month after the previous one?
