I can't read the new chapters yet. What are your general impressions of the two new series so far?

Double Taisei could have been a really nice gag manga if the mangaka took that route. Laughed at some panels.
Was thinking the same thing.

Also, interesting. Thought I noticed a change in the art somewhat.

Act-Age is pure buildup so far (which may not sit well with some people) but damn I love it. The premiere better deliver!
Yozakura had a decent Chapter 2, glad some things were dialed down.

Was thinking the same thing.

I noticed it at the "Just watch me drill this in too" panel at the beginning. It was really well drawn, made me wish this manga was like that usually. :(
The shading reminded me of Nurarihyon no Mago.

Haven't read everything yet, but I gotta say Act-Age's chapter was amazing, probably one of the best this week. Also, regarding new series, really enjoyed Yozakura's second chapter and, at least for me, it works way better as a gag than Mitama's, which I didn't like that much but at least made me chuckle a bit. Since the editor had high hopes for this, let's see how it turns out with next chapters.

I never thought about, it is not hard to laugh at some panels on Jump mangas, almost all of them you laugh a bit. When they come with board game manga like that I always remember of Hikaru no Go and I always think they are trying to repeat its success. Hikaru no Go was also very funny sometimes, but in the end board games is about mind games and tension, something that Double Taisei doesn't have that much.

Mitama Security is kinda similar to that Mieruko-chan manga that is popular on reddit. Not a big fan of that first chapter. The only part that was kinda funny was when that random ghost gave exposition about his powers and bailed out

Nope. OP already sold around 7 million this year and has another volume coming up next month.

Mitama was pretty bland. Cracked a small smile here and there, but nothing much. The main girl is too deadpan, but not in the way that made Saiki funny. Yozakura had a pretty nice chapter, glad that there was some more explanation of the family and their lifestyle without taking too long to get to the point (Saiyuki's fatal flaw). Best part is there's still much more that could be told about them, but that can come in due time as needed. Hopefully the readers will enjoy it since it's my favorite new series in a while.

Double Taisei had a brilliant chapter this week. The first few pages had me laughing infinitely more than the new ghost series. If only the earlier chapters could've captured this humorous tone rather than all of that confusing drama. Looking forward to what happens with Act-Age in the upcoming few chapters since the build-up to the performance has been intense and enlightening for the characters' backstories and future growth. I continue to be bored and confused at the events transpiring in Yui; forever missing the random ecchi gags.

Jujutsu Kaisen continues to be absolute madness, and I’m loving every second of it. When this flashback arc started I was iffy on it because it came literally out of nowhere. Now I’m completely invested in everything that’s going on. The action in this arc(and the series in general) is some of the best in WSJ right now.

Man, I actually thought Mitama Security was really funny. I busted up laughing at the first two pages, then showed it to both my girlfriend and my roommate, and they also laughed out loud. I'm also a sucker for gags that go on for so long that they overstay their welcome and become unfunny, only to go on even longer and loop around to being funny again. There was a sequence near the end that had that effect on me.

I do agree with the sentiment that this one chapter seems to already explore the entire premise pretty thoroughly. I don't know yet how long MS will be able to maintain momentum, and it might have been better off as a one-shot. I'm at least interested to see where things go from here.

Mitama had a ok first chapter, nothing really big, sometimes it got some giggles out of me, while in other times it felt like it was pushing too hard, I liked it a bit, but i kinda agree with Rain that you can only take the concept they presented so far, doesn't seem like there are many places to go, both in story and jokes, but it might grow into me, so i'll keep reading for now.

Really liking Yozakura, i'm rooting a lot for the series.

Damn I love Act-Age.

Mitama character reminds me a lot of Reigen from Mob Psycho but waaaay more idiot (Which is good in this case). I'm not completely sold in the manga, made me chuckle here and there, but I'll keep reading for sure.

Mitama was very boring and bland to me.
Of all the new series this year, I think this was the first chapter I least liked.

Meanwhile, Yozakura was quite fun.
Let's see what will happen in the coming weeks with these series.

Mitama wasn't really amazing, but I chuckled in a few parts. It's something I would be fine reading weekly, I think. The main girl is fun, and I enjoy this image of the line of ghosts behind her.

Of all of the new series that have premiered in 2019, which ones would you say have had the most divisive and most unanimous general consensuses on quality? I feel like these newest 2 have had pretty mixed reactions everywhere I'm looking, with many people being on the far sides of the spectrum for both.

Yozakura feels like the first Jump newbie manga since Chainsaw Man (not counting S8 as it was a given) to have some early buzz imo.

Mitama Security was offensively unfunny. There's only so many times you can use this same face
until it gets annoying, which happened at page 13 for me.
I hope the author doesnt give her the same face expression syndrome. That was a tradition in the old days when anatomy wasnt a thing in manga.

Mitama is a fun gag manga you can laugh to, pretty generic to be honest but still solid to make you think like "daaamn wtf xD". The girl also makes it perfect, way different than how I expected to be

Yozukara was the bom this chapter *Lmao get it? cuz ya know😏*, it's getting more and more its unique charm.

I hope both of them survives

Honestly it feels like every new series this year has been pretty divisive.

The closest thing I've seen to a consensus regarding a 2019 series is "Chainsaw Man is underrated," and I wasn't part of the community when it debuted so I don't know if that has always been the case.

If I had to give a "Most Divisive" award to a single 2019 manga though, it might just have to be Double Taisei. People either love it with a passion or they really dislike it, and I've seen very few takes land in the middle.

Now that we've had the two new series debut, is there any word on the GFC?
