Interesting. Though, it should be noted that the Newtype Awards are ostensibly a popularity contest between readers of the monthly Newtype magazine. So this isn’t too surprising.

I would love to see what would be Shonen Jump "take" on a typical isekai setting, be ressurecting in another world or being trapped inside a game and please, with a harem too ;P (sorry if i don't sound like a edgy elitist kkkkk)

Is this the first time OP or any Jump series released not in the first week of the month? It's weird seeing it released on a different pattern..
Like said above, OP had many volumes released later on December, HxH also had some volumes released late in the month.

So something similar to Real Account (though this is being trapped inside a program with games)?

Also the fact that every year the winners are from Aniplex owned properties since it owns a share of Newtpe's own company and exclusively solicits their titles in the magazine. If you need anymore proof that this is a sham look no further than Akari Kito winning for best female vocal performance when she barely had any lines and mostly grunted.

More like SAO, Overlord or something like that, of course i'm not saying to Shonen Jump publish something 100% generic or typical, but the typical setting with some kind of spin.

no freaking shit pal... i have been an fan of isekai for a decade, but its totally freaking useless now talking about isekai with a setting of now and then, here and there or inuyasha. i would love having these differents kinds of isekai kept being adapted but those are way less desired ofc. while you have shitty junk food isekais throwed in your face. these will always be the most populair for this age of isekai. its such a mixed bag now, its too toxic to have it in wsj
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

you got the sources right but these isekai novels before never really > Bombed < as easily as now or just they are just known.

that denial of SAO is super biased for someone with sources. Sao made it the most populair for the new gen, with several other backing it up

The term Isekai didn't even exist on the west and no one here thought of anything like this as a genre. Don't go and say that you have been a fan for a decade when this isn't true. And like I said before, there's ton of diverse Isekai out there on their original media and hell, even in manga adaptations (which unfortunately, they aren't as good in many times due to how rushed they are)
I should admit I exagerated my point.

I know there are other other types of Isekai (and I prefer some with female MC).

However, many isekai adapted to anime tend to fit the description I put (although it's true this season have some "different" Isekai). Also, a lot of light novels mantain that pattern.
I won't deny that many of those do exist. I say more on that because while there's a ton of LN series with female MC on male and female imprints (and even manga adaptations), those are often ignored. Which as someone who wants to bring them to light on the west, It's jarring to see. I could post some here with their covers to give an idea but it would be too much off-topic i guess?

thats your opinion. isekai means literally another world, so yyh is still partly an isekai tuutuut, truck-kun.
remember inuyashia?

im not gonna get in any further
Of course it's my opinion. haha Which by this vision, Naruto is an Isekai, Bleach is an Isekai, Gantz is an Isekai, and so many works that have alternate dimensions, parallel realities and whatsoever are Isekai. If we go by this, many and many things will be Isekai. lol I mean, if we go by that many comic books are Isekai, like X-Men Apocalypse, Spider-Verse, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, and so on, because of alternate realities and different realms like demon realm and so on. lol

Also... do you realize that in this tweet Kawahara is saying that he's surprised that SAO is considered a Isekai in the west? I don't even need to translate it on google translator because I remember it. lol He said that people in the west said that SAO was a influence to the genre, which he felt surprised and denied, as the series don't go to another world, just into a video game.

Overlord isn't trapped into a game thought. In Overlord the server is closed while the MC is there, the NPC becomes real people and the game is basically summoned in an entire new world.

....if that’s true, no wonder these polls are always usually dominated by SAO characters. Or at least Kirito and Asuna.

Will this Crunchyroll award be the "Yaiba Awards?" probably, not that i really care about it but i would honestly love to see the clash between BNHA and Yaiba fans voting :P

I did, it was mostly a correction. lol Also, I see what you want appearing more on WSM than WSJ.

Don't forget Fate characters which the anime adaptations are also owned by Aniplex. But yeah these awards are mostly a joke, I mean they have Index III as the 7th best anime of the year...early this year it was ranked as the worst anime of the year on two separate polls outside Newtype due to how poorly received the adaptation was by fans.

Oh man imagine the shitstorm. If Yaiba wins at least it'll be the scorn of anitwitter instead of MHA.

See, thats the big reason why I’m wary of Yaiba’s western popularity. Because it is dangerously following the path MHA took in its rise to success, and if the Yaiba awards happen it’s doomed to a similar fate.

It all depends on what Crunchyroll decides to nominate and how they decide to run it. They’ve been getting better every year, but it’s not good enough.

As long as MP S2 wins the animation awards then idrc. I feel like there may be a big bias just because its ufotable.

They probably will avoid nominating MHA S4 since it won't even be done by then. Yaiba sweeping is pretty much confirmed since there was nothing really that sparked the same level of discussion this year amongst the general anime fandom even if they were better titles this year nobody really cared as much.

Yep, it influence an whole genre without being an isekai. Now every junk food isekai is a kirito clone. Now I'm almost gonna throw up:shakefist

... So does this mean Nezuko talks more in the anime?

Because I don't think she's said two words in the entire manga.

Flashbacks, fantasy sequences, that one internal monologue during the spider fight, and lots of "mmm, mmm!" and "mmmrrrgh!"

Totally random, but I just finished reading through Pochi Kuro on a whim, and I must say, it was a really excellent story. Nice sense of humor, distinctive character designs, and a really feel-good story. I really wish it could've gone on for longer, but nothing about it really ever felt rushed. Hopefully the author will be back with something even better soon

I was gonna ask about Jump Ryu and whether they do any more of them, but it looks like it was a one time thing in 2016.
