Maybe you can follow the actual ToCs position until then? So, first chapter is #1, second is around ~#5 and so on, until it gets enough chapters to be ranked here.
Yeah, but the idea is to be as fair as possible, without the pitfalls that WSJ has in regards to editor placements.

We're just going to add a "NOT RANKED" descriptor to the new series anyway, so why does it matter where it's placed?

It literally doesn't matter, high or low. Just ignore the placement until it actually matters.

Is everyone else getting pumped for new batch season!?

Some of the developments this week have made me think about how soon the next batch could be starting, which series could be concluded to make room for that batch, and how big the batch could be. I've gone ahead and written out all the possibilities in my head in order to sort out what I think is most likely.

Confirmed/Implied to Be On Final Arc

The Promised Neverland
- Shirai and Demizu have emphasized multiple times that we're nearing the end of Neverland, and after this week's development there are only a few things left to resolve. Granted they're pretty big things, and I could see each thing taking several chapters. Depending on how easy it'll be to fulfill the New Promise and how much time the author wants to spend on the resolution, I could see it ending in anywhere from 1 month to, like 4 months.

Dr. Stone reboot: Byakuya - More like only arc, but either way we know that this spinoff will only have a 9 chapter runtime. Accounting for that, and the two holiday double issues that'll run starting at the end of the year, that puts the conclusion of reboot around late January or early February. The question is whether this'll be replaced with a full series as part of a batch, or with more one-shots and Jump+ special chapters, or with Hunter x Hunter returning from hiatus.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - This is more on the "implied" side than confirmed ; there was that "Final Arc" image earlier in the year, and last week's color page called the current development the beginning of "the decisive battle". That said, the party is straight up at what should be the final boss right now. Demon Slayer fights take time, and we still have several flashbacks to go through, so I don't think this'll end for at least a few more months. But if this isn't the last arc, then I can't imagine a non-contrived explanation for why it isn't. I'm guessing this'll conclude Spring 2020-ish.

Haikyuu! - Furudate claims that this is the final arc... but Haikyuu arcs take forever. We probably don't have to worry about this leaving for at least the first half of 2020.

Climactic Story Developments

Yui Kamio Lets Loose
- This week's chapter really nitro boosted the pace of the whole story. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing ended as soon as next week. Either way I think this series has a month or two left, tops.

Double Taisei - I'm getting pretty strong conclusion vibes from this chapter too. Either the next chapter starts an arc where Taisei takes on the Pro League, we get some filler stories like a couple of other series are doing currently, or it starts wrapping everything up over the course of no more than three chapters.

We Never Learn - We're quickly running out of high school and a lot of character arcs are wrapping up. I've heard a lot of theories that WNL might not conclude until the real life Japanese school year ends in March. That would be pretty cute, I hope they're right about that.

Status Unclear

Beast Children
- Ended its last arc a couple issues ago and the most recent chapters have been pretty standalone. It'd be very anticlimactic if it suddenly ended without another arc, but I don't know how likely it is that BC will get to keep going. Maybe WSJ is keeping it alive so that they have a rugby manga during the Tokyo Summer Olympics, or maybe they'll end BC as soon as they have the opportunity. It feels like a coin toss right now.

Tokyo Shinobi Squad - Seems to be in more or less the same position as Beast Children. Fresh out of an arc, and twiddling its thumbs with standalone chapters till we find out whether or not its axed. I hope it survives through at least another batch, and it's worth noting that it's the most successful of the Reiwa Three and therefore could be given more of a chance than the other two, but... it hasn't been doing that much better.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs - Apparently the climax of this whole series could start at any moment, but we've just been getting filler chapters and filler arcs in the meantime. Yuuna appears to be stalling, and it's hard to say for how long.

--------------------
Wow, that's pretty much half of the magazine. Anyway, right now I think there's two potential ways this'll pan out in terms of when we get the new batch:

Outcome 1: A batch of two new series starting with Issue #1 2020. Double Taisei and Yui Kamio Lets Loose conclude in issues #52 and #1 respectively, but not necessarily in that order. Byakuya Reboot ends in late January 2020 and is replaced by one-shots or Hunter x Hunter. Another batch of anywhere from 3-6 series gets introduced in late February or early-mid March of 2020. We Never Learn, The Promised Neverland, and at least one of Beast Children / TSS end, possibly accompanied by other series like Demon Slayer.

Outcome 2: Current series keep running through the holiday double issues, and a new batch starts with the first single issue in the year 2020 (which would be Issue #7 or #8-ish). This batch will introduce 4-6 new series, and conclude several current series including Yui Kamio, Double Taisei, Byakuya Reboot, The Promised Neverland, and at least one of BC or TSS. We Never Learn and Demon Slayer end together in Spring for a two batch, and things are kind of quiet until Fall, while WSJ waits to see which of its pile of newcomers is a success.

Out of the two, I'm currently leaning towards Outcome 1, which means we will find out whether or not I'm wrong very soon! Though obviously I think Outcome 2 is a strong possibility as well, or I wouldn't bring it up.

Regardless of what happens, I'm looking forward to seeing what changes. I love batch season! It's exciting stuff.

What the hell, KNY is getting new reprints a WEEK after they get a new batch of them? I assume it's for Christmas and New Year but this is just crazy.

TSS is a filler mess right now. Axe this please, and put it out of its misery.
All three flops are meandering right now. It's like they've been told to wait for the next editorial meeting to know if they can start a new arc or not.

confirmed hit, hope this means they are confident of its future success.

Praying a studio picked it up for an anime.
I'm genuinely not sure whether or not you're kidding, but chances are that this news actually means the opposite. Shueisha doesn't really raise the price of manga volumes if the manga is more popular ; they DO raise the price of a manga volume if it has more pages than usual.

That means (judging from the price difference between TSS and Taisei/BC) that Tokyo Shinobi Squad Volume 3 has one chapter more than it's supposed to, and Double Taisei and Beast Children have two chapters more than usual. Why would the volumes have extra chapters? ... The most likely answer would be that all three series are getting cancelled before they make it to Volume 4.

In fact, we can possibly even pinpoint when each series is getting axed. Volume 3 of a series usually has up to Chapter 25. That means Double Taisei and Beast Children's last chapter is Chapter 27, and Tokyo Shinobi Squad's last chapter is Chapter 26. That means that, theoretically, Double Taisei could be ending in Issue 52, and Tokyo Shinobi Squad and Beast Children could be ending simultaneously in Issue 1 2020.

So uh. I might temper your hopes for an anime.

I think it's safe to say that by the end of the year it will reach 20M in print

^ Jump is definitely sweating at all that.

Though I can see Kimetsu lasting until late 2020.
If Yaiba keeps until late 2020 so isn't ending at all because there's no way the current arc will keep going for so long

I don't currently read Kimetsu no Yaiba nor have watched more than like 5 episodes (Basically I have no idea what's currently happening in the story) and I'd still bet a good chunk of money this so called "last arc" is not gonna be the last arc lol.

There's no way Shueish lets it end so early, think how BLEACH's story seemed to be close to ending in the Soul Society arc and then stuff happened that prolonged the series, I can only imagine Yaiba's mangaka can pull a Kubo and prolongue Jump's biggest hit in this decade (Correct me if I am wrong, but I cant recall another WSJ battle manga that got the boost Yaiba got.)

That's what Jump badly needs, a super successful battle manga.

Also at the time BLEACH was being published tons of super popular manga like Rurouni Kenshin or Yu Yu Hakusho had finished with "low volume counts" so a manga with around 25 volumes was considered super popular, but nowadays most Jump manga that get some popularity get to the 25 volume mark, while super popular titles get to the 40+ volume count (A feat that prior to the year 2000 only Dragon Ball, Rokudenashi Blues and Kochikame -and Jojo maybe had surpassed, but now is more common with the years)

Tl,Dr. If Jump history has proved something is that Jump editors don't let a popular manga die an early death.
Especially after the year 2000.

Assassination Classroom disproves your whole theory. It was even more of a sucess than KNY and that from the beginning, but still finished with less than 200 chapters.

At the end of the day its Gotouge's decision whether to end the series or not and seems like it is definitely ending this arc. Plus lets not underestimate JJK, it can definitely be a massive hit.

I havent read AssClass, but was it a fighting manga? I always thought it was a slice of life manga or something..
Also googling it says Assassination classroom had 20 million volumes in print, which I think Kimetsu is approaching (Idk, I don't really follow Kimetsu's news)
@pamuchi said it's safe to say KnY will get to 20m in print by the end of the year (same as AssClass got) and that would be with 17 volumes (Against AssClass's 21 volumes)... But of course pamuchi could be wrong..

Anyway I specifically said fighting manga, titles like Assasination Classroom, the promised neverland, Death Note are hearder to extend, you know titles whose premise is 'special' or 'different' from other manga, fighting manga on the other hand...

That said, I'm gonna change the topic a little bit, will Kimetsu become the best selling newcomer JUMP Manga of the decade? (Volume sales ratio)

Also as you said Assasination Classroom was super popular from the start (Similar to how Death Note and The Promised neverland are/where), it's different for these kind of manga with weird/different stories, they tend to get very popular at the very start of their serialization BUT anime adaptations tend not to boost their sales that much (Since they were already super popular to begin with), Kimetsu's case is more akin to any normal battle shonen, not that popular but the anime adaptation gave it a boost, in this case an enormous boost, which to my knowledge hadn't been replicated in this whole decade (By battle manga, I remember for example the boost Kuroko and Haikyuu got).

So, I think the best new selling Jump manga of this decade (per volume) was Kuroko no Basket which sold around 27 million with its 30 volume run ... (Actually I just looked it up on wikipedia and Kuroko is from 2009 so not from this decade..)

So I guess the best selling newcomer JUMP manga from this decade (Volumes to sales ratio wise) is between Assasination Classroom and My Hero Academia..
AssClass with 21 volumes and 20million print run and MHA with 24 volumes and 24million print run (According to this https://comicbook.com/anime/2019/10/07/my-hero-academia-manga-sales-milestone-update/)
Haikyuu reached 28 million volumes by January 2018, with, at the time, 29 volumes published... No idea of Haikyuu's numbers right now.
All these series sold around a million per

So If, as pamuchi said, Kimetsu sells 20 million before it reaches volume 20 it would be the best selling JUMP newcomer of the decade (per volume sales, not total obviously lol)

WSJ HAS plenty of successful battle manga. What it NEEDS is pretty much every other staple genre(suspense, sports, ecchi, romcom, etc.),due to the current hits of each ending within the next year or so.

Well I said that because it was at 12M a month ago, I think after the anime ended, then after one or two weeks it got to 16M (it added 4M in such little time). Since all these reprints are almost non stop, I can say that by the time volume 18 releases, it will get close to 20M.

Nope, per first month volume sales MHA isnt even in the top 3

1. Assassination Classroom (845k)
2. Haikyu!! (776k)
3. Kimetsu no Yaiba (734k)
4. My Hero Academia (592k)

(If you include the first 5 weeks instead of 4, Kimetsu is ahead of HQ)
