Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

You think we'll get any clarification on Kimetsu taking the #1 spot from Shueisha? Or will they not acknowledge either one as top? That earlier article's numbers don't seem to be showing anywhere else and 2 million copies is way too much for Oricon to have overestimated OP and underestimated Kimetsu.

I feel like Kimetsu being the first series to surpass OP in yearly series total sales in 13 years is something Shueisha would want to acknowledge. It'd be nice to see something direct.

I feel like they either won’t speak on it again, or they’ll triple down on it, leading to more confusion and polarization in the community.

Nooooot. They have already made their statement. Why do you think they announced their just few days before oricon? So they could not answer questions. OP is first in their hearts. :3c Dang, now it really feels that underprinting of kimetsu wasnt just marketing mistake

Someone actually complied all the tweets relating to the incident here if anyone's interested.
So, anyone can summarize the issue with Ashihara to those who can't read Japanese please?

From the prototype oneshot

"4 guys get trapped in space. Space god gives them medicine to turn one guy into girl to survive as humanity."
Eeerrr, this seems highly controversial and gender bender (to reproduction purposes) is definitely not something I would expect to see in jump.

I doubt they will speak out on the matter, otherwise they would have already said something. Kinda sad if you think about it

Jump GIGA 2020 Winter Volume Scheduled for December 26th

All Manga published will be oneshots

Matsuura Kento (Artist of Tokyo Shinobi Squad) reunites with Gotou Tougo (Writer of Hono Mieru Shounen) for Kurakari no Kyuuketsuki (Lead Colour Page)

Ishiyama Ryou (Santsukubi Condor; Amalgalm of Distortion) returns with Hakamo Shonen Jujuhenkei (Colour Page)
My man Ishiyama is back too! Sorta... lol His one-shot preview looks nice, hopefully someone translates it

I’m digging that Zipman cover, can definitely see a lot of MHA influence as many have said, crossing fingers

Love the cover. I will miss Kawada, hope he comes back soon.
Same, will love for him to come back with a historical manga

How would anime capture the charm of chainsaw man. I feel it's bad/half-finished art is its charm so an animevwouodnt be possible.

Also it's too bloody and mature. Beams of light and half screen covered in black shadow would ruin it.

I am half-expecting a 3DCG adaptation from chainsaw-man ala dorohedoro, to my utter despair

The messy art can be replicated with animation as long as they get the right studio. Just look at the Mob Psycho 100 adaptation

Oda acknowledging the volume sales ranking from Oricon pretty much proves Oricon is as legit as it gets. So irrespective of what Shueisha or Jump chooses to say or not say, it doesn't change the fact that KNY did sell more than OP this year.
People can try to deny this as much as they want but doesn't make it NOT true.

Shueisha being silent is probably the best course of action for them. If they do come out and declare KNY was the top selling manga, it would just cause more dick wagging between fans prolonging this topic even more.
Right now, if they stay quiet, this will all die down in a couple of weeks, especially with the holidays popping up.

Shuiesha just has to mention their internal counting metrics. Again if they didnt mention oricon in their article then theres nothing to clarify.

Finally without watermark
I love this cover actually, it does feel like MHA's influences are coming through.

So we're getting a CP with my boy Karasuyama? Thank you, Usazaki.

Final Hinomaru Volume and Yui Vol 3!
We never got a cover with Kiito, did we? lol

Act-Age and Chainsaw Man stage event at Jump Festa confirmed by Ryokutya leaker

I doubt it's anime announcement, but WSJ wants to keep the hype around these (I would be glad if they got OVAs though).

Chainsaw man has almost 50 chapters. So you can do a 13 episode anime in the first season.
Yeah, but production takes time, if a CSM anime were to happen next year it would have to be in production for a while now and I highly doubt it.

Honestly, I'm curious to see how CSM would look in anime form, even if the gritty art is taken away. Also, the lighting and shadowing blood only happens in anime aired in daytime, it would obviously air at late night like KNY.

I am half-expecting a 3DCG adaptation from chainsaw-man ala dorohedoro, to my utter despair
I would only trust studio Orange but I highly doubt they would take something as graphic.

I was right on the money with BC lol. JJK doubled their sales when comparing them to half yearly numbers, it's a matter of time until it surpasses BC. AA and WNL also doubled and SXP did amazing in its first year, I can only see it growing.

They bury their heads deep into a pile of One Piece mangas while singing LALALALALA~ at full max volume. No way they gonna admit they were 2 million copies wrong on two series.^^
