We don't have any hard evidence either way.

Mashle has everything in it's favor except for sales data, which we won't know for two whole months. Could a lot change in that time and it's rankings dip? Sure. I wouldn't say it's a absolutely confirmed success, but everybody who believes it to be have pretty clear reasons to think so, and this is from someone whose fairly lukewarm on the series.

Mashle has the best intro ToC positions in the past year that I can think of. That's about as clear a sign as it gets, gag series don't just get boosted up for being gag manga, just look at Agravity Boys. From the info we've seen so far, it's the best received introduction since, what, Dr Stone? Since Chainsawman, Act-age, and Jujutsu all started out ranking low.

Some people still somehow not understanding why it might be popular is just plain weird at this point, you can't get anything more obviously appealing than 'One Punch Man but Harry Potter'. Whether you personally like its jokes or not, the basic setting alone has a very strong appeal.

Sure, maybe people will lose interesting when the setting stops feeling fresh but for now at least it's the best received intro in a long time.

Personally, if I were to rank the newbies from most likely to survive to least likely to survive, personal opinions aside:

Undead Unluck
MASHLE
Agravity Boys
Miitama Security
Guardian of the Witch

Zipman was originally on the list at the bottom, but guess what’s getting axed this week. I’m putting Yozakura over UU because Yozakura has sales numbers, and all it really needs to do is to improve. Many signs point to Undead Unluck being a hit, but we don’t have any sales numbers to back that up yet. Can’t wait for Friday.

Being newer to following newbie Jump series placements and sales, I have to ask, what was the conversation around Act-age like when it was just starting out, it didn't seem to place very well, and didn't get a CP until chapter 22. Was it treated as an easy axe before it ended up showing some promise unexpectedly like Yozakura?

Mitama only got the first and second ranking in good positions, at ch3 and 4 was in the bottom 6 and 5, and it only got a new color page at chapter 21 while Mashle is getting at chapter 12, so far Mashle is doing quite better than Mitama.

Regardless of what option, Kimetsu getting that treatment would be very nice. I want to see Araki draw Douma/Uzui.

We can try to keep it "vague" because there are no sales yet but we have also a pretty big historic of how things work on Shonen Jump when a manga start to be ranked, and a manga (specially from a newbie) that has at least 4 consecutive weeks with good to great toc positions and a color page so soon at chapter 12 will hardly have the twist of being a flop when the first volume gets released, it can happen ofc but so far the manga is showing all signs of popularity.

About the double chapter, this is something more of a recent pattern toward gag series, both David-kun and Jimoto got double chapters too.

Not the same but I'm pretty sure Togashi drew some Naruto characters and were included in the HxH volumes.

Yup, in Vol. 15 to celebrate the start of the Naruto anime. One on the left is by Inoue, I don't know who did the middle one (if anyone can make out that style or their signature, let me know), and then Togashi's.
