Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

YUTAGOD.

Seriously, this guy's profile has been on a rise since he worked on MHA. Having a hand in the two most successful franchises of the decade, he's clearly in high demand for action-heavy series/franchises.
What? He was already well known before MHA. Take a look at his portfolio.

Deku and Bakugou second fight
Damn, we are in for a treat then. I think that was what was lacking KnY’s fights; fluidity. While they were extremely good looking, they weren’t really fluid. So I’m really happy

I know. But his profile just raised even higher thanks to his work in MHA. Casual fans like me are definitely noticing his name pop up more often now.

While hero academia was what drove him into the "hyper mainstream" such that he is one of the few animators most people know of head, he was still very popular and highly regarded well before then. He key animated many fight scenes in cowboy bebop, full metal alchemist (2 of them) , soul eater, evagelion( he key animated that Shinji and Asuka dance fight) and many other popular anime. The final fight of sword in the stranger is still regarded as one of the best fights in anime. Regardless if he has any involvement in KNY, I can't wait to see it

Pretty much this. In the old days, people wouldn't really pay attention to specific names behind the scenes. A lot of those titles above are cult classics, but not as mainstream and iconic as Dragon Ball or Yu-Gi-Oh!, for example. I know people might argue about those titles, but if you asked a random stranger on the street about those titles, it would take about a few minutes to recall them. Whereas people can immediately remember the ones I mentioned.

If Yutapon is working in Infinity Train and since KNY is a sword based story, this is the kind of stuff I want to see from him. He is seriously a god.

Given how "flashy" KnY is, I would imagine Yutapon would do something like combining the choreography above with his MHA aesthetics.

This are the ones I can personally remember and there could be more titles which I dont know if they adapted all the manga like the more older series (pre 90s) or the case of Hatsukoi Limited that I havent check either the manga and anime, so if other users know more, it would be helpful to be able to complete this little list.

I would argue that anyone that cares enough about the anime industry to know animator names would have known about him way before MHA.

The people you're talking about are the hardcore sakuga fans. I knew a few standouts from the Naruto days, such as Yamashita or Wakabayashi (may need to recheck those names), but none have truly blown me away and stuck in my mind as Yutapon did. It helps him that 1. He has a nickname that's easy to remember. 2. He works on the heavy hitter mainstream series that everyone and their mom knows around the world. 3. He has a very distinctive visual style in MHA.

Yutapon imo, would be the gateway/gatekeeper to the world of sakuga analysis. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be as interested in sakuga analysis as I would before, (although I remain a casual observer). And I'm sure many more in the future will.

When people see an amazing scene animated in MHA, the first question would be 'was that Yutapon? Or was it somebody else?' Yutapon has become that influential.

Not really? Evangelion 3.0 is #25 and 2.0 is #49 on the list of highest grossing anime movies of all time in Japan.

I mean, that's still pretty good, but not stellar in comparison.
Just being in there at all makes them some of the highest grossing anime movies of all time, the placement isn't really relevant. The MHA movie isn't even close yet I'm pretty sure no one would argue MHA isn't pretty damn mainstream, for example.

Everyone, I usually allow you guys to discuss anime news, when it's revealed. However, specific animator talk, while also citing non-WSJ work, really is off-topic and shouldn't be posted in here.

Let's course correct.

Fuck, I missed the talk about Nakamura! It was really interesting! The thought of Kimetsu possibly having some of Nakamura’s animation has me seriously hyped.

To try and get more on topic, hopefully, I’ve never seen a whole community get acquainted with an animator until MHA came around. Usually, when bigger shonen communities talk about their anime, only their studio is mentioned. I find it surprising. I hope that this continues, at least within the MHA and Demon Slayer fandoms. It’s baby steps.

And yet, just one more thing on the list of how influential MHA has been.

Remember how someone posted the Top 10 of the “5 Manga That Defined Me” trend in Japan earlier? Here’s the Top 50.

Jump has been seriously influential, huh.

You would actually expect DB to be on top, of all things. Happy for FMA, though. Nice to see PokeSupe on the list too (if only that one got an adaptation one day...). I think at some point, MHA will be higher on that list after a few years it ends.
