Both Mashle and Agravity Boys are fantastic.
People seem to keep criticizing the very things I find so unique and compelling about these series. They're both trying to do very different things and both excel miraculously at those attempts imo.
Really feels like people don't understand what the series are going for or something.
Regarding Mashle, though I
really enjoy it and think it's one of the best out of the newbies, if I could criticise one thing it would be the dialogue. I understand that Mash's character is a brawn over brain type, and that his simple comments add to the comedic effect when compared to his opponents for example, but I sometimes find myself feeling that his conversations and interactions with the other characters can seem soulless and empty. It's been said here a few times that the side characters in Mashle are underwhelming, and I think that comes down to Mash's interactions with them not being very developed or well portrayed.
I guess you could argue that that is part of what makes Mashle compelling and unique. But, and excuse me for using the age-old ONE comparison, a large part of the reason I liked Mob and Saitama so much despite their 'simple' attitude was that their dialogue with their companions (Reigen and Genos respectively) felt so genuine and believable from the very start, like they had an actual personality rather than embodying a personality trait. That,
in my opinion, is what Mashle currently lacks, and what I hope to see more of in the future (because a running gag of being simple can only go on for so long). I understand that it's only just started though, so I may be judging a bit too quick.
