Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I think with KnY supposedly bringing in new manga readers and fans, that's the potential for some series to capitalize on. They (the new manga readers) would look for something they liked a lot about KnY in other series. The first bunch of series they would try would be from WSJ because of the same magazine.

The problem with long ongoing series like MHA or HQ or OP, people would need to read a lot to catchup. So it's going to be easier for them to start liking a newer series like JK or CSM. But it totally depends on what they are looking for.

Speaking of two top 3 mainstay series leaving, it means we could see Mashle hit the top 3 in the next few issues (assuming it keeps going strong of course). It's already at #4 this week.

Its odd that Mashle's v1 has taken the longest to release of its batch despite it performing the best in the ToC, even if it's half-gag manga.

Main heroine looks like Erina with smaller chest and with glasses. While the main hero looks like her half-brother but like 200% edgier. Or is this just me?
Girl definitely looks like Erina 2.0 (Not that I'm complaining) but I don't really see it with the guy.

I was wondering if a veteran successful author would return to WSJ this year with a serialized series, besides Kubo. And if that were to happen, wich author you guys would want to return?

I would love to see something new from Ryuuhei, Matsui or Fujimaki.
Just remembered now but I would also like to see Mizuki Kawashita come back.

I would love to see something new from Fujimaki, maybe the serialisation of the samurai one-shot, or something else.

I think that's what they are trying to do with JJK. Its also a darker battle manga and the trailer showed some really good animation. It also feels fresh and modern but creating a million seller is not something that happens artificially. KnY's greatest contribution is definitely getting the smartphone generation to read Manga.
MHA has reached its peak already and is on the decline. Also, a sidenote but i don't think CSM will become a million seller. I hope with a good Anime it can get into the 500k-700k territory. Some of its more niche aspects will hold it back from becoming a mega hit that will be read by kids, older people and young adults alike.

Incidentally, with the comment about the smartphone generation, it's probably worth remembering that 80% of the new readers people like Murata have talked about will be most likely digital.

Probably best not to expect any major boosts on oricon.

That's why I want to know the older sales numbers. Bastard!! seems like it would also be a niche thing (which it sorta is), but then you see that it has a circulation number of about 30 Million.

I wonder if Vertical World is ending soon. Today's chapter had an end-game feel (especially the title). If it does that would be 3 Jump+ titles Manga+ is about to lose (in addition to Hina Change and Spotless Love) so hopefully they pick some more up.

Edit: I guess Summer Time Rendering is also in the final arc although I think that one still has some time left (frequent "extra" chapters and the regular chapters are fairly short)

I haven't read Vertical world but do you think it'll get a more well-drawn version after its done or maybe an anime?

I kinda doubt it will get a redrawn. I think the roughness kinda adds to it anyway though. No idea on anime. Jump+ stuff has been getting anime but I think it's mostly been the big stuff. As far as I'm aware Vertical World hasn't had any physical volumes (it kinda needs the long strip form anyway) so we can't really guess but personally I don't see it being popular enough to be picked up.

VIZ is publishing Tsukuda and Saeki's new one-shot:
Great, really curious to see how the one shot will be and maybe this is testing the waters for a return, which i would love to see happening.

Btw, i will probably add the one shot for voting in the next poll alongside DBS and Boruto new chapters.

If this becomes the case, you have to wonder if Jump will take digital sales more seriously.

That's a random number with no evidence or data behind it. Most of Kimetsu's sales have come from physical copies.

If the new generation was indeed an audience that preferred digital, they wouldn't wait in lines during a pandemic to buy physical volumes.

If anything Kimetsu's popularity just provided a new wave of opportunity for physical volume sales.

I actually agree with Rain because honestly, i have yet to see any of this "good impact" Yaiba is having in other mangas, at least in physical everything looks like always, being outshined by Yaiba or even selling less with few exceptions like Dr. Stone but this one has nothing to do with Yaiba, i'm more inclined to believe that this impact is a lot more in digital than physical.
