Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

How exactly is that different to earlier generations of Jump manga?
You may had the same thropes but the concepts were mostly different.

Saint seiya and fist of the north star had the same thropes but different concept.

Naruto and hxh had similar thropes but different concept

Hitman reborn and medaka box had the same thropes but different concept

Mha and zipman have the same thropes and same concept...

don't have much to say about Zipman since nothing much happens
I like the art and characters designs

hopefully the world will get fleshed out and more supporting cast debut soon
I hope the author learns for stuff like TSS and Ne0 and doesn't waste the first chapters on "villain of the week" stories

J+ december new series

route end mangaka returns
all 3 manga are by returning Jump Plus mangaka

first one is by Dorei Yuugi duo based on a story by Ibuka Mitsu
second one is by Route End mangaka
third one is by Maru Mitsuchiyo (Seija no Koushin) and art by Yuuki Satou (Suginami Toubatsu Koumuin: Dungeon Kinmu no Hitobito)

Zipman has really nice art but the first chapter felt so generic. Its pretty hard to care for the characters. I have read much worse first chapters lol so I will stick around.

There's quite a lot of western themed series out there. With Aladdin being a smash hit in Japan and one of the top grossing movies of 2019 in Japan, it makes me want to see an Arabian themed series (One Thousand and One Nights). I think it could do very well, similar to Magi I would say. Anything but western...theres so much at this point.
There isn't a lot of british themed manga that represent what Britain is actually like though. Which is why I think a british themes yankee manga would be awesome. Just me though

Kinda surprised no one is talking about Yoru wo Higashi ni.
It’s a very good manga with great art, lovable characters, an interesting setting and many other things. I recommend you to check it out, the first three chapters are available on the MangaPlus app.

I wonder if it will get any recognition in the future, it deserves it.
Are you talking about that "Eternal night" manga?

If you are I love it btw

Third one is actually a reboot of Seiya no Koushin from what I can understand.

I thought Zipman was a pretty entertaining ch 1, but it definitely feels like a "me too" kind of series. I feel like, unless it significantly diversifies itself in the next few volumes, if it does well it'll probably be a series that gets a lot of complaints from western fans like Black Clover.

Yes, the english title is “East, into the Night”. I’m glad someone else is reading it. From what I’ve read so far, it has one of the best introductions I’ve seen in a while

I've been enjoying Manga+'s own picks ups a good bit more than the WSJ debuts the past year. I guess it makes sense though since they can choose the best stuff from 100 or whatever series, compared to getting all (good and bad) from the main magazine.

I kind of liked Zipman. I have good hopes for it, if it tries to be technological/mecha type. It did seem like it drew a lot from MHA, and doesn't have the originality or the paneling skills of Chainsaw man. But hey, It has just been a single chapter and we don't know until the central conflict of the story is introduced.
I really do hope it pulls a Dr Stone and switches this uninteresting main character to the brother who seems smart and interesting

I also hope it doesn't go down the path of Last Saiyuki. I loved the first chapter there too. It had interesting world building, but was botched by the rushed exposition.

When it initially came out, It felt like Taiju and Senku were both MCs and Taiju was given a tad more importance. They sidelined Taiju as the story went on and it made it much better.

I realize this may be considered against the rules, and if it is, please please please overlook it just this once. A few vocal minorities here have promoted Hinomaru quite a bit and now that I'm catching up again, from chapters 170-202 ish, please consider this as a partial post-mortem for an already-shelved Jump series if that allows it to be on-topic.

I didn't expect Chainsawman-level antics (in a variety of meanings) in Hinomaru. Nor the great improvement in terms of imagery and symbolism from the author. The hype is goddamn insane. The things that are happening are so grounded in reality that the impact is huge. If I have more to say I might make another post. It is truly an amazing series that deserved more recognition, but screw recognition because who cares, HZ is amazing.

Edit: Also the romance jesus christ how did I forget to mention that.

Edit 2: Also the goddamn amount of crazed laughing and "HOLYYYY SHHH-" I've had to do is crazy.

I thought this WSJ was a bit underwhelming to be honest. Last week there were 5-6 chapters I loved, but this time around nothing really stood out.

We talked about it a bit when it came out five weeks ago. The first chapter was really nice, but I feel like the next two chapters have been kind of slow in comparison (well, except for the twist, I guess).

I think the reason why people just didnt want to give it a shot was because it's sumo. I hated it when it first came out but read a bit after a few years and liked it. But I only read a bit. I might might give it a try one day

Based Hinomaru is based :super, it is indeed an insane shame that HZ didn’t managed to gather the same amount of attention solely because of its sport, I admit I didn’t had a huge opinion on Sumo when I first started but the more I read it the more I came to truly respect it and see it under a new light. And the cast is so full with charisma and is so likable.

And yes, it’s so fantastic that throughout its run it always maintained a realistic approach to how it portrayed sumo, with most of its “superpower” aspects mostly coming from it’s amazing paneling
