Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Huh, interesting question, but how often do villains get into the polls? Because I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one.
SasoDei from Naruto was pretty big back then, so you pretty much see them in every poll since they debuted. They still maintain their popularity even after they died. And let's not even get into Iruka.....

We’ve also rarely seen an arc centered around villains with no main characters in sight so there’s that that probably helpes

This is something very normal, villains in the top 10, happened many times with Bleach, Naruto, Reborn, Toriko too if i remember well and etc...

Yeah it just hasn’t happened in a while. Jujutsu might have the same effect with its villains

The difference between Bakugou and Midoriya/Todoroki is bonkers already then there's the difference between those two and the rest too lol. How did Bakugou get 6k more votes than last year? Shigaraki was expected but it's weird not seeing AM and Hawks in the top 10.

If I recall, spam voting. Fangirls basically pulled a Y-san and deliberately gave him more votes.

The voting system was different this year, though. Last year it was an open voting but this year you could only vote through tickets you got when you bought volumes.

I don't think this is confirmed at all.

This just seem a theory from people who really dislike that Bakugou is number one.

They just bought more volumes. Do remember, Y-san famously bought 4000 copies of Jump just so he could vote for Marika each and every time.

That was legendary, if only because I think the ending of Nisekoi implies that Marika sets up a date with him, as a nice little nod to that.

I mean, but there were fangirls last year too. Bakugo somehow increased his votes with a more restrictive voting system, unlike every other character.

Thank you for this explanation.

Considering Bakugou has more votes in the fifth poll than the fourth poll, I suspect the theory that the position of Bakugou is because some fangirls vote a lot is totally wrong.

Again, you don't have proof to say this have happened with Bakugou voted, right?

Not to mention this could have happened with other. Maybe Mirodiya is above Todoroki, because some of his fans buy a lot of volumes.

All this Kimetsu nonsense has left me wondering; what the hell happened to Neverland? It was Jump's hottest property of 2016, but it seems to have died out a little? I sense that there's not much clout for this series anymore.

How the tables have turned.....
It started to stray away from what made it popular quickly and basically rode on the hype train from the first arc for a long time.
And the things it has been doing have been... not that good either.
I conjecture that Jump felt obligated to feature all of their series here, given the nature of the poster. Really the only time Yuuna appears on the cover these days are the all stars ones with the rest of the Jump characters.
Someone literally pointed out a few pages ago that TLR had less covers than Yuuna, despite being massively more popular. It just appears to be the fate of an ecchi series.

I want a yuuna cover just to see what mangaplus will do...
viz will just either use a volume cover or a color page, heck they used zipman lead color instead of the cover page

Exactly. Bakugou has always fangirls, but he get more votes in a more restrictive in a more restrictive poll.

Deku has more votes in the fifth poll than the previous poll, but I don't hear people saying his fans are "cheating" in the poll.

I hate Bakugou so I always get annoyed at those results.
Someone posted an interview on the HeroAca subreddit and I found it really interesting, what Hori said about Bakugou and how he was recieved. I'd elaborate, but this is a general WSJ forum.

ToC seems like using a randomizer to order series right now. We're having 3 spots free whenever Byakuya ends next week right?
