Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

P.S. the Yozakura Family hate hurts. I understand you see it as directionless because it's clearly supposed to be a romantic comedy, not a 250 chapter an arc battle series, but come on. Any one chapter singled out on its own isn't bad in my opinion, and as a whole, it's almost a good thing he isn't trying to use the entire family of characters every chapter. That would likely make each one even more shallow than if they didn't appear at all.
The bigger problem is the villains. There's too many characters with the exact same psychotic shtick; oldest brother = new female classmate = toy company president. Also, how old are Mitsumi's siblings? Couldn't some of them be in school but maybe different grades than her? That'd be a pretty natural way to better integrate the family into the general plot. That one trash can brother could be viewed as an eccentric janitor, seeing the bucket guy as their underclassman may be funny. They're just being underutilized and the author is being over-dependent on the "gimme muh Mitsumi, go die Taiyou" facial gags

The literal plot of the story is that Taiyo is supposed to protect Mutsumi. That was quite literally explained in the first couple of chapters, and that is why all the villains are coming after her. That's the point. It's the same as people complaining about the "villains of the week" in Zipman. Like, yes? It is based in a genre where that is the expected norm. Why are you so upset by this?

I can't particularly argue with your point of integrating the other siblings into the school, but again, it's explained that they're busy doing all their jobs, and I imagine they don't have time, or the need, for something as ultimately pointless as high school. You might not like it, but at least it makes sense in the context of the story.

Thoughts on this weeks chapters of the newer series:

Yozakura Family: Totally get the issues that people have been having with the series (and would agree that the last couple weren't very good) but I quite loked this one, felt a bit like a return to form, but I would like to see more of the family as well.
Mitama: Man, it's been said to death here, but I'm really starting to like this one. Glad to see it's starting to get success in the toc, hope that keeps going.
Zipman: It's somewhat generic battle shonen meets Toku? I don't really have a positive or negative opinion on it at this point. I do kinda think that the art for the battles isn't that great, feels quite static.
Agravity Boys: Honestly don't know what to make of this chapter. It was mildly entertaining? Still interested to see where it goes, but really have no clue.

This whole idea for the other members is way too cliche, everybody being students or in some way being at the school? why? the school isn't even the main place for the series, they're good as they are, is just the case of the author not using them too much.

Just because a canon excuse is made to cover up bad/lazy writing doesn't change its inherent laziness.

It wouldn't be too hard to add them to the school. "Due to the sudden increase in threats to Mitsumi due her her and Taiyou's relationship being exposed in the dark web, we'll be attending school to increase immediate protection to Mitsumi." It could easily be as simple as that. My problem isn't the villain of the week concept, but that all of the villains have the same personality, same quirks, same gags. The auhor just needs to make them feel less like cookie cutters of each other.

Not all of them are needed there, I just thought having some show up there wouldn't be a bad idea. I mean some of them look about the same age as Mitsumi and Taiyou, so it wouldn't be outlandish for them to be there occasionally.

Really? for me all of them looks clearly older than Mutsumi and Taiyo, at most the one who have the disguises that look younger, the missions being the main factor in the manga would be the place where the author is supposed to use the characters more.

I think they are have numbers worked into their names, so I thought Mutsumi was sixth out of 7 kids. If that's correct, the bucket head guy would be the youngest.

I think it's fine that there's multiple villains focused on Mutsumi, because you're right, she's a focal character of the series. I think the main reason that people are complaining about it is that all of them are motivated by a romantic fixation on her.

There's lots of cool potential for Mutsumi focused villains. Like the head of a rival spy or crime family that keeps being overshadowed by Mutsumi, and wants that clout for herself. Or someone negatively affected by the Yozakuras that wants the bloodline to end, and therefore targets Mutsumi specifically. Instead, it's multiple reruns of the gag "I love Mutsumi, and therefore I want Taiyo to die". Hell, one of those villains started the chapter as "I love Taiyo and hate Mutsumi", which then got inverted into a dynamic that is already in the series twice over.

You can be faithful to a genre's conventions and still have variety in characters and dynamics. Even if Zipman ends up being a "villain of the week" series, I bet that the next three robots in a row won't be based off of magical girls. The issue people have isn't that they can't deal with the fact that Yozakura is a romcom. It's that the past few chapters make it feel like a romcom that is already running out of the very ideas that made it feel so fresh and new when it initially debuted.

凶(一)郎 - Kyouchirou (Ichi - One)
(二)刃 - Futaba (Futa - Two)
辛(三) - Shinzou (Zou - Three)
(四)怨 - Shion (Shi - Four)
嫌(五) - Kengo (Go - Five)
(六)美 - Mutsumi (Mutsu - Six)
(七)悪 - Nanao (Nana - Seven)

Personally, I'd like the author to show more of the family. It doesn't have to be serious right away but more frequent interactions between them and Taiyou and Mutsumi would probably benefit the series. The villains up to this point have been mostly uninteresting and kinda pointless for the story. It doesn't have to be a super frightening villain, just someone with a unique character within the cast and that actually brings a different flavor to the story. I don't mind the "monster of the week" motif if it's done well and sadly Yozakura hasn't been hitting that mark. The running gags are also getting overused so it's tiring to read them every week.

Tanjirou getting his big spotlight and especially Yuuna being included at all is really nice.

Well, I see Yuuna lasting more than Nisekoi at this rate. Not as successful, but it's something.

Now we just need some psychotic character that loves Kyoichiro and hates Taiyo/Mutsumi, or both, I'm not picky. I see Mitama first volume selling at Samurai 8 level and the Yozakura one selling like Yui Kamio. I don't want this outcome cause I want Poro's author to succeed, but he has to improve a lot.
