Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

You can acknowledge and respect the past of something, while also shutting it down because it is bad for the industry in the present day.

In 2019 their scans were rushed and bad and low quality, and distracted from free, legal, well produced alternatives. They continued to do this while those alternatives were available for a year. Respect and acknowledgement for what they used to be and used to represent can only go so far.
I like your reply, but I don't agree with it.
The future is now, old man. Either you die a hero (rip groups like red hawk) or live long enough to become a despicable relic of past.
By choosing to stay the same, mangastream choose its own demise.
I could have respected them if I don't know the state of them today.
Good riddance, I guess.
So, we're all saying the same thing...that we appreciate and respect the things MS has done for this industry and the community outside Japan which is literally help build a market (along with other sites and groups) that has pushed publishers like Shueisha to finally get off their arses and take steps to provide manga for everyone outside Japan?

And we all are also saying that what MS has done after Shueisha's initiative of M+ is bad and totally on them and therefore deserves said blame and consequences of it?

Cool. Glad we got that sorted out.

Edit - Also, I'm not old. How dare you. I'm only 29. *welp*

Kimetsu no Yaiba has sold 5.6 million copies for the 2020 Oricon Year and we're still in December 2019....
My bet is at least 20 million for this year.

-Neverland and Shokugeki dates
-Act-age interview

I dunno if Mangani or Raf have already posted this:

So weird they used "they" when mentioning Act-Age artist who everyone and their dogs knew for sure to be a young girl, while used "he" for mangaka who still have their genders ambiguous like Gotouge and Furudate.

Also, I love it when the editor mentioned great title from other magazine dealing with Art creation like Nodame and Blue Giant. He really knows what he's doing and the most suitable editor for this manga.

It looks like we are (kinda) on the same page then, yeah.

I just find it personally more useful to focus on the present. By trying to eulogize MS and have a moment of silence for the good things that they inadvertently did for the industry, it can come off like we're trying to excuse their actions, or implicitly admonish Shueisha for daring to topple such a pillar of the manga community. Like, I highly doubt that MangaStream's goal was to get Shueisha to establish a legal alternative that would obsolete them. If that was what they truly wanted for whatever reason, then they would have stopped what they were doing, or changed what they were doing so it involved series that still didn't have legal alternatives, a year ago. Mangastream, in part, caused the industry to develop and evolve, but they did that by accident. And after they did it by accident, they stubbornly continued to behave the same way they did before the industry evolved, which was by trying to fill up their own wallets.

So yeah, while I agree with their historical impact or whatever, and I certainly agree that the consequences were essentially self inflicted, it just feels weird to look back at a website behaving selfishly for years and saying "thanks" because some of us happened to benefit from those selfish acts for a while. When we do that while saying we acknowledge what they did wrong, it makes that acknowledgement feel disingenuous.

Wow. I, uh, never expected something I said would go viral like it has.

Legit, the most shocking thing is how long it took to be noticed. I was the first person to actually make people aware of what was going on, but the site had apparently been down for at least 24 hours without anyone noticing. I myself only found out what was happening by complete and utter accident.

They probably choose pronouns on the mangaka's own request.

I'm not sure what it means with "remastered" version or "its not in the same format as before" about another reprint batch for KnY.

17/01 KnY volume 18
23/01 KnY volume 15 - 17
24/01 KnY volume 1 - 7
27/01 - KnY volume 8 - 14

Jaiminisbox just announced this on their discord.

If you haven't seen it already, Mangastream has decided to stop working on WSJ series overall. The important part is, We think it is a good place for us to end too...

This may come as a surprise, but we have decided to stop working on WSJ series and focus on our Webtoons and other series from different magazines (YJ, WSM and so on).

The idea is to let this turn of the decade change the Edited Manga scene, hoping services like MangaPlus (MP) can grow and put out more free content. Giving way to a new era of Edited Manga, fueled by the wills and wants of manga fans that want a free, accessible and legal alternative that supports the mangaka. We hope that this will improve the quality of both the scans and translations that MP offers (only time will tell).

As for the projects effected by this the list is as followed:
- Black Clover
- We Can't Study
- My Hero Academia
- One Piece
- The Promised Neverland
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Samurai 8
- Dr. Stone
- Dr. Stone Reboot

Since many people in our team love the series we work on, and we want to keep to keep supporting their method of learning, we will be working on some of the series from that list for ourselves only, and will only be sharing with Staff (This is being added so if someone mentions about working on something we don't get shit for it).

Also, this would have marked MS's 10th year! So good luck and farewell to them catsalutears

This is a new beginning, and end, to a era of Edited Manga

We hope you all support MangaPlus! If they aren't doing a good job, email them catsir
sparkles Now that everyone is reading this, Also adding another announcement that the Xmas event we are running only lasts till December 24th! So please hand in your submissions!

Still, translations that will pop up will not have the credibility or so to say these two groups usually had.

Whatever new group will just start doing it, now or in few weeks, early translations will not disappear and Jaimini's Box just didn't appeared out of nowhere with reputation.

Good to see Jaminisbox bow out but Shueisha should drop the hammer on them anyways for continuing to scan Young Jump series. True fans support the mangaka.
