Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I've decided to start up the polls in here again for the newest batch of series.

Zipman's first ToC ranking is up next, so I'll do a poll asking where everyone thinks it'll rank.

Exactly, it's not the first nor it will be the last shonen manga like that too.

It was more focused on other things than Mutsumi x Taiyo to be called a rom-com of any kind. My main complaint is the family as whole didn't have a bigger role for a series called "Yozakura Family". Multiple family members going on missions, or even just doing SoL comedy with them would have been a great thing, but alas...

It also kept introducing poorly written characters without any point.
He was sold as a romantic comedy with action and that's what he delivered.
Also comedy manga always does what you're complaining about focusing on multiple things, beelzebub and gintama were like that.
You read the manga with the wrong expectation expecting a spyxfamily.

I assure you Gintama and Beelzebub were an awful lot better at establishing their main cast and their relationships early on than Yozakura was.

Seriously, why is this even a debate at this point? The series clearly failed to strike an audience, and the faults in its structure and direction are the clearest reasons why. Denying such problems exist and arguing its just people not "getting it" does nothing for the discussion.

You dont know the sales of the first volume yet and you clearly dont speak for japanese readers neither Manga Plus readers, so your "it failed to strike a audience" argument holds no real weight so far, specially considering the popularity on MP

Yeah, I doubt it will cause a big ruckus, because it will fall under "ecchi things will be ecchi" for many and that will be it. I personally don't like what I am seeing on the CP, sure, but I don't think it will be seen as "problematic" by the general audience.
This is totally true.

Pople in this forum act very surprised when this type of comedy has been used many times in popular Shonen. I don't even talk about older shonen, recent shonen (like Nanatsu no Taizai) uses it.

speak for yourself, who thinks yozakura has to be banned from introducing new characters.
And just because the manga is in a low position doesn't mean it will be canceled.
Act age and kimetsu no yaiba started at risk of cancellation and then settled down.
if yozakura is canceled, that's fine, I've always wished he and Mitama were successes, so I won't start haia yozakura because it's in the botton.

Can we stop quite literally judging books by heir covers please? We just had this whole same thing with people getting all offended about Agravity Boys before release but then it came out and it was fine, and is one of the best received new series here recently.

Sure, maybe it'll be a manga all about girls being sexually assualted, but just wait and see what it's actually like first instead of judging based an image meant specifically to catch as much attention as it can.

I mean, Black Clover had boob-groping just a couple chapters ago and MHA has basically everything Mineta does.

But...not in literally the first page of the entire series. That kind of sets a particular tone.

Criticizing something doesn't necessarily mean one is offended by said thing (as much as I know some are itching for that to be the case). And I'm judging this based on the LCP for its serialization. Agravity was all about the one-shot. I was hoping that Undead would've altered this aspect from its one-shot (or at least not put it front and center as something to be proud of), and so it's only natural to be disappointed (not surprised) by this, especially since it's the first thing one sees for the series' first chapter. Now if things are toned down from the one-shot? Great. But that won't invalidate criticism of the LCP.

No. The author does the lead CP knowing it is the first thing people will notice on its series and he did the groping thing to catch attention, so he should be ready to the backslash too.
The CP is meant to people quickly judge the series and that's the way the author chose depict his series. It's like: "Hey, this series plays the unconsented groping trope, you might like it!"
That said, I'll still read the first chapter and I know lots of things will be changed from the one shot. This doesn't change the way the author chose to sell it's series to the readers.

Yuuna isn't Viz, though, it's Seven Seas.
Exactly, Viz didn't pick up Yuuna presumably because they didn't want to get their hands dirty (them doing that always rubbed me the wrong way), yet look what this series did right of the bat.
I won't say anything else on this matter though, I'll read the first chapter to draw my own conclusions.

Well when I see cover like this I become little suspicious about half of WSJ readers are girls which some people claim.

Regardless, I don't see big complain from West about this manga cuz overall manga is not that popular in west like anime. So if this series survive and gets popular anime and would have that kind of humour, well then people will start complain.

People usually use those series as example of series escaping the axe, as well as Chainsaw and Jujutsu, but the difference with those series and Yozakura Family is that Yoza has recently been on the bottom 3 and a few times, in the last spot on the recent ToCs, something that the previous mentioned series didnt got to that point in their earlier chapters.

Now, a point it should be clear right now is that the magazine is short on series. Yeah, we will have 20 series with the new 3 ones of this batch but those series wont probably be considered for the next axe batch, so the most probable that will be considered for axe are the ones on the bottom, thus meaning Yozakura being one of them. The thing that Yozakura and also Mitama have an advantage now is that a few series could end soon (Mainly TPN and WNL) or Shueshia could just wait more time like they did with Yui Kamio and the Reiwa trio, so if this 3 new series, as well as Zipman and Agravity, dont grab as much attention as Yoza and Mitama, they will be axed instead. Now, we just need to wait for the v1 sales of Yoza and Mitama to have a much clearer vision of what it will happen to this series.

"Ah good, he wont grope the gir...."
I gotta admit I chuckled a little when the page got revealed and it ended up pumping the grope to 11
As for the manga itself, completely disinterested in art and premise, dont see myself looking into it unless it is a book completely different than the cover

Well, I don't want to be that kind of people. But when you have a big, strong guy grabbing a girl's breasts by force, that's clearly an apology for sexual harassment.
And detail, the girl is not wearing a bra.

Well, I've seen some smut manga for girls.

Although the guys are usually more good looking, this type of behavior is not uncommon in those stories.

Kimetsu no Yaiba was never in danger of cancellation, even early on surprisingly. It got a Chapter 7 Color Page as a thanks for the popularity, and only once ended up on Bottom 3 of TOC later (the issue where Love Rush ended). Besides that it was in the middle.

Even the Shoseki first two weeks sales were 20k+ for the first volume, which is also a good start for a newbie mangaka. Pretty much a definition of the "newbie showing some promise".

So in your opinion that cover is meant to attract girls readers or not?
