That OP drop. KNY has a real chance of passing OP volumes sales now. This is insane.
To think a series that sold 70k first week a year ago is now on the verge of possibly selling more than OP volumes. Imagine the laugh past us would've had if someone told us this at this point last year.

One Piece is not dropping much more than the usual, it will to just a little less than 92 and 94, I think. Kimetsu reaching it is absurd, it's been extremely difficult for a series to reach 1kk (I think volumes of Boku no Hero and Haikyuu got to it, but not until a looong while, right?), and Kimetsu is already above 1,5kk in what, 6 weeks?

Yes, 6 weeks so far, volume 19 will do that in a much shorter time span. Also, both MHA and HQ had volumes reaching 1 million after a year, with MHA taking much longer than that.
We haven't gotten the top100 from Oricon lately, so probably not. However, it was at #99 in shoseki, and the estimate for 100th place is 8750, so we have a decent idea of how it's doing.
Good night to everyone. So after reading the last discussion, I can see how some of you react to things like violence and sexual harassment in shonen manga. But i would like to ask, what is your view on the depiciton of another kind of sensitive topics, such as suicide and bullying?
For example, Bakugou of Boku no hero, is a bully who not only encourages Deku to commit suicide, but later on the series tries to mortally injure him. But he's treated as part of the heroes, even though he never is really punished for his past actions. His abusses eventually even become jokes

He isn't reaaally punished, but he's never made to be in the right or as if there's nothing wrong about what he's doing either. Besides, yeah, it's not thaaat heavy. I don't remember the part about it becoming a joke, though?

I have seen a lot of people that really hates Bakugo and points his actions and what you said as the reason why they hate him, even the joke thing, i also read some translations of a video interview with Horikoshi where he said something like thinking Bakugo's atitude in the beginning was a bit "too much" so he softened with time, which you can see in the manga progression.
My opinion is kinda neutral about Bakugo, i like the character and always saw him more like a "Vegeta" of BNHA, but you can see some kind of double standard in the western fanbase with people defending him with a passion (specially fujoshis) despite him being a real "bully and asshole" while acting like Mineta is the worst thing on earth just because he is pervy despite being a nice guy.

Bakugou was intended to be read as an arrogant, talented, yet insecure kid with severe projection issues.
I don't always think it was executed well, but he was always intended to have a character arc of emotional maturity which gives the behavior substance.
If she was enjoying it in the CP wouldn't it be implied that the situation is more wholesome and that she probably gave consent beforehand? I'm not saying that's how it works in the real world but what I mean is at least if she was smiling confidently and had her arms around the dude as well then the first impression would be that everything is currently A-ok.
Don't get so triggered that you get blinded and fail to comprehend other's points.
I was gonna stay out of this topic but this comment...;
1. This is a magazine aimed at a children and teenagers. One of the biggest driving influences behind teenagers and children are the stuff they read and see aka stuff like this.
2. Learning to "tolerate" something does not make that thing right. People have been "tolerating" sexual harassment for decades. Does not make it right, in any way or form.
3. You underestimate how often people find it hard to distinguish fiction from reality.
I've witnessed this first hand multiple times when walking with my best friend (who is a female) when random guys catcall or sing romantic songs as she walks by. Something that is overly seen in Indian movies.
She has two options in that scenario. Either just walk off and not say anything thereby giving these men the impression they can do it again to someone, or call them out publicly which often forces them to say shit like "i'm sorry, sister. I was just singing, sister" and run scared.
4. WSJ should do better. It's not the 1970s or even 90s. We are in 2020. Having a series with that as a LCP is literally the most degrading shit ever.
I understand a genre called Ecchi exists. But WSJ should really start drawing a line. If they thought a series like AOT was too graphic for their magazine, shit like this should be too obscene for their magazine.
Catcalling or singing romantic songs is not something that I think should be censored in media. I get that it's hard on your friend, doesn't mean it shouldn't be portrayed.

Also.. just reading the last couple of posts from the last couple of pages.. has Kimetsu no yaiba sold 12 million in like less than 2 months (iirc the were oricon yearly numbers were published in late November, so I assume they track November to November every year, correct?)
Call me a hater all you want, but I would just be very pissedif Kimetsu ends up even beating One Piece's 2009 (or 2010?) 40million high that was driven by Strong World and Paramount War.
I mean if the hype doesn't die it's a real possibility this happens.. it has sold 12 million so far, and it will probably publish 4-5 new books this year, I assume they will probably sell 2 millions each, that's 22 million.. it "just" needs to sell 18 million of backlog..
I just don't know why I'm feeling like this lol, like such a hater haha, it's probably a combination of me not really seeing Kimetsu's appeal (from the first 9 episodes of the anime, so pls no spoilers because I will eventually continue it) and me thinking other manga deserve more recognition (like I don't think Kimetsu is "bad" but it's only "fine" and when something is just fine... Well it's not "good" lol).
The anime is shit compared to what happens after. It's universally agreed amongst manga readers that the anime doesn't come CLOSE to the future arcs. They made the mistake of slowing the pace and adapting only the worst arcs.
Why would having worse content in the magazine justify the fact that groping is already disgusting.
Also, just as a side note, the zombie character in the One-Shot ends up looking to have sex with the female mc due to some plot reasons, so yeah, he's fully aware of what he does, not like he's dumb or whatever. He literally just uses the girl as a method to accomplish his goal, which kinda emphasizes the idea of objectification on the character.
Am I being maybe too radical? I honestly don't care. This is not content that should be exposed to the audience this magazine can actually have. Other than inappropiate, unnecessary and stupid. Next series, please.
PD: To the idea of the final result of the first chapter can be different compared to the one-shot! Sure, the CarbonCopy Boys experience has told me enough.
I mean that's technically Denji's main motivation ad well, the difference is that if the zombie dude is actually just groping her leading into rape and shit like that then I'm out. Too cringe
You are pissed because Demon Slayer is over hyped. I never usually call things over hyped or overrated but in this case it's just true. Imo. But I ain't pissed because I wanna see something actually beat one piece more than once. That would be really interesting
