Is "Web Comics" the correct terminology to use for Jump Plus titles?
they're manga serialized on an online platform instead of paper
I would say it's a fitting term

Pretty sure OPM volumes at their peak sold close to a million. So I can only imagine some volumes would have peaked beyond 1 million.
Translation - No. Not yet.
1 million?? you talking yearly backlog sales or first month sales?
IIRC first month it was closer to final arc Bleach and peak Food Wars and just under BnHA so like 400k to 500k

and in the case of yearly sales, I'm fairly confident SxF volumes will reach 1 million in sold with time

I'd call Jump+ stuff Digital Manga rather than web comics, web comics to me has connotations of the ones that are self-published on the creator's own personal website or blog (like Cyanide & Happiness, Homestuck, etc), and tend to release just one page at a time, I guess the label is technically true but it brings to mind a specific idea.

Pixiv manga I'd call webcomics. Series on Jump+ however are regular serialised manga under an official publisher, they're just serialised online rather than in a magazine.

I meant over a year. Highest sales figure for a OPM volume we have is 910k for Vol 10.
In a month, this volume sold about 690k. From what I can see, Vol 11 also sold similarly.

So it's definitely higher than MHA or Soma or final arc Bleach and even SxF. But that can change obviously as SxF is still growing.
It's closer to Fake Karakura Town arc Bleach numbers.

Yozakura dropped 45 positions and Mitama strangely kept the same position lol

--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Kamio Yui managed to rise from 257 to 221 :teehee
Could be possible that Yozakura is just selling out now since the print was probably very low to be main with?

Wow, Guardian of the Witch did well here, the reception seemed more lukewarm. Ditto for Mashle. Mitama being first is very deserved!

Yozakura selling out is unlikely given that we got reprint notices on the 4th, 5th, 6th and the 7th, with reprints going out as late as March 17th. If a lack of stock was the case, we'd probably see it listed already.

Damn good sized drop of Yozakura, was hoping it'd stay in the top 100 for the whole week, hopefully it doesn't have a huge drop again. Good on Mitama for getting stable I guess?

Yeah about Guardian, it was quite the contrast between this thread and the votes, it had a much more divisive "reception" in the thread than UxU and Mashle but in the votes did as good as the two.

And something "interesting", Zipman had 0 votes for some days, which is the first time it happened in the poll at least since i started to do the polls, every series always received at least 1 vote on Sunday but with Zipman took some days to happen, guess people are really not caring much about it.

I'm noticing that, with the sole exception of Miitama Security, new series tend to rank rather high in the beginning, then start plummeting with each subsequent chapter. Of course, it's probably due to everyone checking out chapter 1 and then only people who liked it enough go to Chapter 2 and so on, but I still find it interesting.

It seems as if the votes and rankings generally start to reflect the opinion of the forum by the time a month has passed:
Basically everyone's disinterested in ZIPMAN, so it'll probably stay at rock bottom.
Yozakura and Agravity has a largely mixed to negative reception, with some people who really like both, so they're around or slightly above the Bottom 5.
A lot of people like Miitama here, so it's been hovering in the Top 5, with this poll even ranking #1.

Based on this, I expect both Undead Unluck and Witch's Guardian to join Agravity and Yozakura (or probably hover above the two), never reaching ZIPMAN bottom or even Yuuna bottom. Meanwhile, Mashle will probably remain in the middle of the pack. This is assuming the reception for each series remains the same.

I'm pretty surprised that Undead Unluck barely avoided the bottom 5 by a single vote to escape the quadruple-way tie for second last. I had thought it was a pretty great chapter, and from the comments I remember seeing last Sunday, I thought the reception was pretty good as well.

Reception to chapter 3 was certainly pretty good here, but maybe just not top 5 for most. Since we can't go super into the established series new chapters, it might be hard to tell what praise for a new series will actually translate into a vote.

I would add "exclusively on an online platform". Some manga on jump plus publish simultaneously on other printed magazine as well, like sayonara miniskirt or world end harem fantasia.

Digital manga is already a term for all manga in digital form (manga you bought from kindle and the like).
A correct term would be "manga published exclusively on a digital platform". But that's too long, I presume.
And I recall, Japanese already used the term "web manga" for that.
Tatsuya Endō's SPY x FAMILY took first place in the web manga category.

So I have a question to pose, How different would the WSJ titles be if they were in Jump+ instead? And vice versa?

Inb4 "Yuuna would be lewder."

Nope. Webcomics are amateur comics/manga on the internet, like the ones on twitter or pixiv. Jump+ or any digital publication is just manga.

Yunna would be like World End Harem, for sure. Chainsaw Man and Neverland would be darker. The rest I don't think it would change too much, but they wouldn't feel "jump".

It's funny to me that Weekly Shonen Jump has had no less than three former H-artists do series for them, and none of them were specifically ecchi series.

Does that mean Agravity Boys is technically the most ecchi new manga in the past 3 years?

It's got a decent amount of manservice moments so far, and I don't remember any of the manga since WNL leaning much in that direction. I suppose they haven't needed it due to Yuuna every week an sometimes WNL but still.
