Neverland and Kimetsu feel like they've still got half an arc left to me (then probably a bit of epilogue afterwards). Yuuna's got a whole arc but it could probabyl rush an ending by the next new series batch if it felt like it/WSJ wanted it to.

WNL I'm still not convinced this is the end, it could still do proper arcs for all the girls, though I'll need to see the next chapter first.
I don't think they're ending next month or anything, but I don't see Neverland or Kimetsu lasting beyond 2020.

Speaking of TPN ending, if it ends before the second season and movie air (which is highly likely), what are the chances that it will receive a much higher boost than it would if the manga was still going? I assume that with a relatively small backlog, a lot more people might be encouraged to buy the volumes and read the whole story. I also feel like it might have a stronger chance of replicating the first season’s strong boost with the shift to more action in the second season which could attract a slightly wider audience.

Here's a higher quality version of the Chainsaw Man volume 6 cover.

No, not yet. Toriko had 20 million copies in circulation in June 2014 already, dunno how much it sold after that.

edit: Okay, took a quick look at the Oricon charts after June 2014 and from the numbers the new Toriko volumes had after that when they last charted, the series sold at least another 3 million copies between June 2014 and the end of the series, not including backlog sales and sales after volumes dropped off the charts, of course.

Seems like Tokitou will take that 1st place lol. (It's just a reference and updated one).
Muzan seems very unpopular. You guys that still read KnY think the villain is a weakness of the series? (I dropped it around the Love Pillar introduction)

I might not be the best person to answer, since I'm don't really like Kimetsu very much overall, but I would say so. It's not story-breaking, but he's just not very interesting and the series is suffering currently because of that, imo.

He's not terrible for a battle manga villain, but compared to many of the other villains in manga now, he's definitely a tad weak.

Muzan is very threatening, but I like villains which get development through the story. So far, the rest of the villains in KNY have had flashbacks that developed them, but Muzan's wasn't as well done as many others (particularly I like Akaza the best) so in my opinion Muzan pales in comparison to other villains in KNY and in other series.

He started as a great big villain, very intimidating and stuff but just ended up being a lot underwhelming, ofc because Gotouge wasn't able to make a better final battle with him, to be honest i think that this is the result of Gotouge rushing things for whatever reason, instead of developing the story more and making Tanjiro get stronger, he/she just rushed to the final arc with Muzan being way too strong for the current Tanjiro and cia and he/she had to find a way to make the Hashiras and Tanjiro be able to hold Muzan, which means, nerfing him.

Edit: Also as mentioned by others, so far he's just a bad guy because he is mean to be the bad guy.

Still better than Kaido over in One Piece, because Muzan actually is a character >>

Villains rarely do well in wsj popularity polls.

I think I remember a recent one had an antagonist get very high up and it was pretty notable as that doesn't happen too much (though I don't remember which series).

MHA. Shigaraki got 6th, Toga 9th.

Though, to be fair, MHA has the advantage that the villains got an entire arc where they were the protagonists.

If you mean with known numbers just from the Oricon yearly charts, then yes. But atm Toriko does have 3 million more copies in circulation than Neverland

Toriko - 20m (2014)
The Promised Neverland - 18m (digital/WW)

Depends a lot of what series you talking about because series like Naruto, Bleach, Toriko, Reborn and others had many really popular villains, Reborn used to have like half of the top 10 composed of villains (or ex-villains)

That's more because almost of Reborn's cast outside of Tsuna's crew were antagonists (and Mukuro was as well).

Also, I don't really count Toriko because Toriko didn't have a lot of characters, let alone villains. It as a manga was focused squarely on the world and action.

Interesting take. I thought they would do well, but I checked some other polls and even some villains very popular in the West, like Aizen, did poorly on their series polls. I guess the love for villains is a western thing?

Edit: Actually, I think if you have only one card to vote, it makes more sense to vote for a character from the hero team. If you can have two though, things can be different.

Or because they were just really popular with the fanbase? doesn't really matter if you have "so many villains" if they're not charismatic or popular with the fanbase, My Hero Academia only having Shigaraki or Toga appearing sometimes being a example.

Also this one about Toriko doesn't really make sense, but okay lol
