Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Something I need to get off my chest. I'm not sure why everyone "hates" The Promised Neverland now, and for the last year or so. It hasn't ever particularly gone down in quality, all of the arcs have made sense within the context of the story, and all the recent big events people think are supposedly "bad" were literally foreshadowed years ago. I've never seen a series go so downhill in favorability (in the west) so much without the series actually going downhill.

That whole Coronavirus thing got me thinking, what if there is a battle series that uses things like bacteria or viruses or any other kind of biological matter as it's main schitck? Would be a nice change of pace from all that Demon/Devil/Curse/Ghost stuff right now. Like...Parasite Eve but if it was a battle manga.
Sounds like something Shimabukuro would do.

The series isn't bad, but it's not up to par with what we expected, because it peaked in it's early arcs. Everything goes Emma's way with no consequences and there aren't many unpredictable twists and turns. Ray is no longer a main character and the kids don't problem solve like they used to. No hate from me, but dissapointment.

Without getting too much into spoilers,

There has been like 3 times that a certain plot device has been used in the series in like the past 2 months.

Everything feels like it’s aimlessly progressing with no real point.
And the main villain is extremely lame in comparison to past villains in the series(Isabella and Leuvis particularly).

I personally love Pre Timeskip Neverland as a whole. And was a huge defender of the final arc for a while. But imo these last couple months of chapters have been terrible, and I’m just begging for it to get closer to the end now.
I’m getting the same feeling I got with Death Note towards the end. Where I will always love it for that amazing First part of the series, but like, man.... that final arc though.....

To each their own, I suppose. I personally think this final arc has been the highest point since Goldy Pond, but I could see what you don't like about it.

KnY #20 will be including postcards and they come in 16 different styles (like the pic)
Considering in the past, stores had to limit new volume sales to one volume per person due to so many wanting to buy and some rude fans purchasing like 30 copies of the same volume at once, I'm sure this standard marketing tactic won't cause any problems at all :cheez

Characters no longer have agency. They perform actions in a way that makes it obvious that it's just to advance the plot. Entire arcs and 80% of the cast have no place in the story and can be removed. The world feels sparse, like if 90% of a map was just large dark ink blots. The main questions have all been answered except for one annoying one introduced later that only exists to create a false sense of tension. There is no longer any puzzle, riddle, or anything that makes the reader think.

U+U > Yoza Fam > Agrivity > Mitama > Mashle > gotw = zipman

i may drop GotW, No fun at all, too bland... everything meh..

funny how the table turned ...
Undead Unluck being the most hated and disliked since preview on chapter 1 came out while Guardian being the most hyped, anticipated and praised..

Being this just an opinion with 0 basis: I think whenever a series states being on its final arc/final climax/arc climax/whatever, if the series doesn't conclude in the next 2-3 months after that is stated, people will start hating it and being bored with the developments because of the expectations that end can generate on readers minds. And since the series won't reach those expectations, people will feel that series is just being dragged. And I honestly think this can be applied to any single series.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's readers fault or anything, but I really think any climax statement hurts more than it helps to keep favorability of a series.

From all series here, BC is the manga that it's less spoken here (not to mention that in the polls it's pretty much forgotten). Did you guys drop it or just have it on hold?
its barely progressing when you only have 15 pages

I agree with this take 100%.

A good part of this does also go back to this mindset a lot of people have of wanting a series to be what "they want" rather than what "it is". Kind of like when Death of the Author takes over any perception of fiction.

The Wall
and Neverland keeps nosediving and I'm only sticking with it to see how the freefall ends.
Glad I stick around too, that final scene is hilarious, should have been a gag manga.

Not a main stick but the fight against plague stand in Jojo part 5 is pretty awesome.

You are correct, but not all series feel drag equally. Just comparing the amount of complaints tpn got vs kny.
Also, fucking teenagers gun down boom boom pow pow an army of devils and spec ops is dumb in every levels, and no explanations nor any suspension of disbelief could stop it from being pants on head retarded.

Modern OP has "good paneling"?

Uh...no? Not in the slightest? Not unless you like pages which are crammed together to include as much as possible at the cost of impact or dynamic ideas. Character writing point baffles me as well, as OP's character writing is...not great.

Like, could you actually expand on your argument there?
One piece had a lot of memorable panels like you can remembered even the weakest arc too. My newest favorite panels for Timekip are Odens lift up the 9 scarrbads on a boiling pot, Luffy vs Katakuri climax, Kaido did beautifully one-shotted Luffy and every readers will be remembered those panels forever.

Oda is a God tier panelling for reasons and his countless panelling will be remembered even today.

"For reasons" is not an argument and I hope you know that much.

That you are pointing to very specific moments which are memorable instead of the general layouts and storytelling exposes the hole inherent in your argument.
