Moderator Notice: Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.
These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

One thing about Undead Unluck that makes it a lot better than the other recent battle shounen is that it feels like it's had core ideas and a proper story structure thought out from the start.
The other stuff from the past year or two (except Samurai 8) has mostly felt like they had great ideas for the premise but not much of the story that holds them together. Undead though clearly had all this beginning stuff planned out by comparison, everything so far links together well.
I remember a comment a while back from an author of a quickly cancelled manga saying something like "I plan to do everything I want to in this series", and I wonder if that's the problem with a lot of the flops, they're thinking more about how to include all their ideas in their manga and not really how to make them work as one single story.

Also that one line in this week's Undead chapter, "save the questions for later and pay attention", made me laugh but it's also a good indicator of another thing a lot of series fall for, explaining everything too much too quickly. We don't need to know how everything works in-depth right away.
I feel like, in a different series, most of this chapter might have been spent on explaining how exactly how the rewards/etc work in detail, or spending the full chapter explaining what exactly is a UMA with the book appearing at the end (or in Saiyuuki's case, 5 chapters).

Uhm, what's the criteria from the editors to give a series a full color chapter? A final chapter? A beloved series? Naruto got his but not Bleach, so I'm little confused about that.

The digital version of Jump has a chapter repeated at the end in full colour which currently is Demon Slayer so I'm not sure if it would be "next" per say. I could see its final chapter being full colour in print though.
Kimetsu deserves a full color chapter ending with it's enormous growth in popularity and being the biggest hit of the previous decade. I can't see how OP will get a full chapter color before Kimetsu when Kimetsu is ending soon. Unless they do one for OP hitting 1000 chapters.

This. Kimetsu should realistically get one very soon, maybe for chapter 200 since it's pretty much the last milestone it can really hit. Or for an ending chapter I guess.
Ehh you guys are mistaking these full color chapters as something they give for a series because sales or any kind of milestone reached when is somethine very rare to happen with no real pattern behind it, so saying "Kimetsu deserves it because sales" doesn't really make sense, if it was for that One Piece, Ansatsu, Haikyuu, Kochikame and and so many other big series should had one too.
And One Piece that is the biggest selling manga in history didn't got one in over 20 years. Yaiba breaking OP records still don't mean it will get a full color because is doing that, Kuroko didn't break any record and still got one when more popular series did not, simple.
Also, just Kochikame alone is more influential and important for Jump than Yaiba will ever be.
Kimetsu hasn't even ended and the sales keep growing so how can you measure it's influence already? Its projected yearly sales figures are already mind blowing enough and it's monopolizing the sales rankings on the Oricon charts. Also, you can bet it'll probably win the Tezuka prize. I would be shocked if they didn't give it a full chapter color ending.
We're not expecting a magazine cover send off, which you can argue that's ridiculous (& I would agree) but surely it deserves a full color chapter ending (much more than any of the ongoing series in the magazine, with the exception of OP ofc).
