Keep in mind, these are only estimates, as rankings are relative. For the Top 50, it's advised that you wait until the Oricon ranking comes out.
What were Oricon's first week numbers for Chainsaw Man? I think there's a good chance Chainsaw Man may surpass 100,000 copies in 2 weeks.
It's honestly a surprise how Neverland can still keep these sales despite all the negative or lukewarm reception the manga is receiving for a while, in the other side BNHA that is having the most popular season (ratings) and a lot of praise in the manga's content, is dropping.

I'm basically on mandatory vacations until May, so time for a long ass post lol.
So people are saying Kimetsu No Yaiba should receive a color chapter, and I mean it could happen.. I guess maybe, but then again super popular authors like Togashi or Watsuki never got one.. (I think? I'm too lazy to check any of those particular author's series as I don't have the kanzenbans nor any Jump issues with cp of them.. I should say Color Pages lol, writting CP and Watsuki in the same sentence could lead to misunderstandings in context/meaning.)
Anyways, Out of the top of my head, and I might be forgetting some series:
Endings:
-Ring Ni Kakero.
-Slam Dunk.
-Dragon Ball.
These 3 had their entire endings with Color Pages + Bichrome.
-Naruto:
Last chapter is entirely in color (as in no Bichrome, real full color, sadly it looks digitally colored I think, I would have love to see Kishimoto's copic coloring style).
Not endings:
-Bleach
-Eyeshield 21
-Prince of Tennis
All these 3 series received Full color entire chapters (No bichromes) in argueably their "climaxes", or the climax of certain arcs, I remember Bleach was the Ichigo vs Byakuya battle, and PoT was a match against Hyotei (which was/is the most loved tennis club in the series, after Seigaku of course.. Though Atobe is probably the most liked character.. who knows, but he's certainly given the most Giri Choco every year
I'm not sure about Kochikame, but I'm almost positive it didn't get a full color page ending?
Now, the thing is that Full Color chapters aren't as rare as most would assume. What was and still is pretty rare is a series ending with full colored chapters (Be it Full Color+ Bichrome, like the first 3 I mentioned/ Just Bichrome, like Jaguar/ Just Full Color, like Naruto).
But color chapters were quite frequent before the 90s, just not Full Color chapters, more like 3 Full Color pages and then 15+ pages of Bichrome pages.
Just looking thru some old WSJs of mine and the Saint Seiya Kanzenbans I saw that some but not every chapter that got a color page during the 80s was the entire chapter.
For example in the 1986 Issue 1-2, which was the Saint Seiya debut
the entire first chapter is colored (3 Full Color pages, the rest is bichrome), now remember this was the debut of a series by veteran author Masami Kurumada the very same author whose last series Ring Ni Kakero was the first ever series in Jump to receive a full color ending, so probably Saint Seiya got special treatment, I don't think every Jump series had a full color first chapter pre 90s.
Issue 38 of 1989 (which I bought because it's my literal birth date, now you know how old I am)
Also.. I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball had some full color chapters too, it had plenty of Full Color+Bichrome, but I also distinctly remember some chapters being full colored.
After the 90s bichrome was less and less used, I can remember for example that the first chapter of One Piece has bichrome pages, Hunter x Hunter's first chapter too BUT series like Shaman King which also debuted in 1998 or Naruto (1999) didn't have bichrome in the first chapter, so it seems like the use of bichrome pages for manga started to decline or ended in 1998.
But bichrome never entirely left the pages of Jump, it is still used to this day, mostly in advertisement pages.. I can't really remember the last time a manga actually had bichrome pages in Jump though it was probably Jaguar.. Idk.
All that being said It'd be cool for Kimetsu no Yaiba to get a full color ending, I don't think it should get one if series like BLEACH or Kochikame didn't get one (I know it has sold more than those series per volume) but I think if Gotouge is cool with the extra workload the final chapter in full color would be a great final publicity stun (like the series needed it lol).
Do you know how many of those color pages made it to the Viz release of the volumes? Because I'm sure some did, I own volume 19 of Eyeshield 21 with the color chapter and I've seen an early print of Bleach's volume 19 with the color chapter as well. Or if any of those were released in color in an edition of the japanese tankobons?
I asked Marcello and she said reception was generally a tad tepid for a while, but the final portion of the series has reignited a large amount of interest.

There was a Viz print of Bleach volume 19 with the color 163? Huh...
Viz tanks for the Shonen Jump/Advanced line tend to never have color pages. They usually were found in the VizBigs, the Viz Signatures, Jojo hardcovers, MSG: The Origin Hardcovers, etc; basically the higher end stuff.

I don't know about Viz releases but here in Mexico Bleach volume 19 had the entire chapter in color, I'm also pretty sure that Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21 had their color chapters in their respective tankobons and they were a little bit more expensive (think 10% increment for the color pages).
I know not every series needs/deserves a kanzenban re-edition, but it pains me that even the Shonen Jump Remix don't include the color pages, only the Shousuhen editions reprint the color pages...
I mean at least they should be included in the digital editions as an insentive or something, not like there is an extra cost in including them.
Printing these color pages was probably mandatory from Shueisha as they also came in the original tankobon releases.
I'm talking about the Bleach, Eyeshield 21 and Prince of tennis colored chapters. But I have PoT and... I'm pretty sure Viz didn't print the color pages in it, I don't know about the other series.
I also remember some color pages in a Yakitate Japan Viz Edition because without the color pages the gag wouldn't have made sense (basically it was about a green colored bread in the form of a turtle if my memory is correct).
So from time to time even normal tankobon get color pages, but I doubt viz printed the color pages in all the 3 titles I mentioned.

I'm almost certain that Viz never published the color pages for those 3.
By the way, what are the usual prices for manga in Mexico? Are they closer to Japanese prices or US prices?
But they did, as I said I own the Eyeshield 21 one. Here are two pics I took quickly of them.
I saw pics like these of that Bleach volume with color intact, thats why I was wondering if Viz did it for the others in the past. But I couldn't find any information about them online. That Bleach volume must have had a dozen reprints so it's understandable why it's not known (eventhough it's still Bleach ffs, so it should be), but Eyeshield 21 had a lot less reprints and I think its 19th volume couldn't have had more than three, so it should be a lot more common with collectors. Either very few of them were printed as sales were terrible at the time, or people just don't care enough to give it an online footprint.

So it depends on the publisher, we had a gap of like 8 years were no manga was published in Mexico (From around 2008ish to 2014ish I think) because the last publisher that published manga went bankrupt and (From what I heard) Japanese publishers didn't want to license their titles to Mexico, that was until a new publisher Kamite started publishing manga, but the publisher that now prints 90% of the manga in Mexico is Panini which has different branches in lots of countries.
Anyway, in the 90s the first manga started being published here in Mexico by Editorial Vid, the publishers of Memin Pinguin.
The first licensed titles (1999ish-2001ish) like Video Girl Ai were published in half tankobon volumes that were around $20 pesos, same with Love Hina and Dragon Ball. Since they are half tankobon, let's say the price for an entire volume was $40 which at the time was around say.. $4 USD dollars I guess? Keep in mind this is retail price, you could probably get them for cheaper during sales (When the publisher went bankrupt there was a 50% discount sale, in which I bought lots of series for cheap lol).
The second batch of titles (2001ish-2004ish) were Saint Seiya, Rurouni Kenshin, Dragon Quest Dai No Daiboken, Saint Seiya from WSJ along with other titles like Neon Genesis Evangelion and GTO. All these titles were $45 pesos ($4 USD) and were now full tankobon sized, funnily enough Evangelion had some color pages and was sold for the same price as the others which always seemed weird to me lol.
There was also some other titles licensed obviously, Seinen manga was sold for like $65 pesos IIRC ($5 USD) like Tenjo Tenge, Zetman, Bt'x (Was it Seinen? Idk lol)
This batch of titles was basically what was popular in Mexican TV, minus Ranma because Ranma along with One Piece had been licensed by Toukan Manga... Which was a publisher that released manga for like some years and then went bankrupt :/
The third wave of titles licensed (2004ish-2006ish) were the super popular titles of the times, Mexico was lagging behind to the Japanese market by around 5 years and finally Naruto and BLEACH were published along with other Jump titles like Ichigo 100% and D-Gray Man and Hunter x Hunter.
The prices for these titles was $65 pesos ($5 USD)
After 2006 there was a huge slump, and I don't remember many titles being published, lots of series were canceled mid publishing like GANTZ, HxH, D-Grayman, Naruto, BLEACH, Yu Yu Hakusho... The worst thing is that for example Tenjho Tenge was 2 or 3 volume away from finishing and it was left unfinished and to this day has never been republished.
Then around 2008ish to 2014ish no manga was published, as I had said. Then a new publisher Kamite started publishing manga (Which rumor says is basically Mundo Vid, the old publisher that went bankrupt born from the ashes lol) so anyway their first title was Hellsing which was sold for like $90 pesos which at the time was around ($7 USD).
But that very same year Panini invaded the manga publishing industry here in Mexico with the release of Saint Seiya Lost Canvas it wasn't a Jump title, but it was the closest thing they could have licensed and it was a huge hit, Saint Seiya is huge here in Mexico, and the price point was great too! $65 pesos
That was in 2014, from then on Mexico's economy took a hit.. The peso was like $12 to USD back, now it's around $18ish. So usually tankobon volumes are sold for like $90 pesos most of the times. A little bit more ($10 pesos more) if they have their dust cover jacket (Like original Japanese volumes do, a thing USA manga industry never did).
Right now there are two publishers here in Mexico basically, Kamite which publishes higher grade stuff for like $150 pesos ($7.5 USD) and Panini which usually publishes their manga tankobons for around $100 pesos ($5 USDish), but that's for tankobon, what I love about the Mexican market is that they are republishing old titles in Kanzenbans and Deluxe editions, even for titles I would have never thought would have been published like City Hunter which is being published in its kanzenban edition, even though City Hunter is pretty much unknown here in Mexico lol.
Also we have officially imported titles from Editorial Planeta Spain, mostly Tezuka titles in Deluxe Editions like Phoenix, Buddha, Astroboy but those are super expensive, like $600 pesos ($30 USD) for hardback editions. Also Hokuto No Ken kanzenban for like $300 pesos ($15 USD).
Also, this particular volume of Prince of Tennis volume 16 is the first printing. I don't know if future reprints have the color chapter, I doubt it though.

One series is still in its boost period where new people are still invested in it while the other has been going on for 6 years so its already an established brand, there hasn't been a decline but its not exactly a "new" item to discover either.
Tell that to the people who insist that Souma's sales drop was in large due to the negative western reception of the final stretch and not just because its boost period ended.

That's quite the exhaustive overview you have there...so Mexican prices are closer to Japanese prices...I still can't believe that Viz's 10 dollar price is the cheapest option here in the States...(in terms of MSRP)

So your volumes got cheaper! From $16 to $8 that's half what they were being sold before! (At least for SJ titles, I think Shogakukan titles were being sold for $10 IIRC)
A nd when you think about it in the economic sense, it's cheaper for USA people since the lowest salary in the US (According to my memory) is like $7.50 per hour, right? So working a minimum wage job with one and a half hours of work you could buy a Viz volume.
Here in Mexico, the minimum wage is $120 pesos in most places and $180 in the border PER DAY that's probably less than what most Americans make in an hour haha, so overall while prices are "cheaper" here I would consider volumes are more "expensive" since you are using more of your salary, similar to how games are sold here even more expensive than in the US!
E.g. Re3 Remake is being sold here for $1,350 pesos, around $70 USD, if a minimum wage worker here in Mexico gets $120 pesos per hour (I'm gonna stick to the lowest minimum wage since around 20 states have it out of 32 IIRC) that's $120 pesos multiplied by 30 days= $3,600 pesos ($190 USD)..
A Mexican minimum wage worker wouldn't even be able to buy 3 copies of Re3 Remake (I mean.. They would still have to buy food: chile, tortillas and beans for breakfast, which is what most poor people eat.. Perhaps if they are lucky they also eat eggs and stuff like that).
An American worker on the other hand, If he/she earns $7.50 per hour x 8 hours x 30 days=$1,800 USD per month, so that worker could buy 60 copies or Re3 Remake (Since retail price for it is cheaper in the USD $60 compared to the price in Mexico which is $70 USD).
I know bills are way more expensive in the US but for stuff like videogames, manga, you guys probably have it "cheaper" basing on how much you can actually buy with your salaries.
Also when you look at the global market most of Europe has most volumes at around 7-8 Euros which is around $10 USD..
To keep this Wsj oriented, what's the price of WSJ tankobons right now?? 440 Yen? Or has it increased? It would be interesting if someone knows the price of Tankobon volumes over time, or even Weekly Jump issues.

@Rain Spectre@ChocoBar9 to this day I don't understand why they are making the last season of Shokugeki lol, I mean it's pretty mucho consensus that it sucks, and I doubt it's gonna affect manga sales by much.. So why bother.. Then again probably with streaming rights or something like that it makes sense for them, who knows.
Exactly. Same with Bleach. People just want to believe a sales decline has some correlation with some perceived drop in writing quality when the harsh reality is that nobody really cares about the series anymore.

Its a waste of time and resources no doubt but given how they slashed the budget entirely after the first season flopped it probably costs nothing to make.
