Ya know, amidst all of the Thousand Year Blood War anime hype, I have to ask something... was the arc even that good? Like, I haven't read the manga, but I heard that the arc wasn't even all that well received, and that Bleach had one of the more worse endings for a shonen (though not as bad as Food Wars or Seven Deadly Sins).

I just kind of want to express some caution before fans on Twitter end up making enemies with everyone by downplaying other manga, cause I'm starting to see a bit of it.

I thought the last arc was mostly okay, it was just the very end of it with how the main villain was defeated that I take issue with.

You can tell Kubo just rushed through it. Also, he spent the entire arc hyping Ichigo up, and he completely trashed it in an instant.

It was character assassination on a level I've never seen before. I think the hope here is that the studio working on the anime adds a little canon filler to certain parts, so it no longer has a rushed feeling, and we actually see more of Ichigo instead of what Kubo ultimately did to him.

I didn't think it was good, and Bleach was probably the one I liked the most out of the big 3 during its best parts. But well, I guess it atleast deserves the respect to get a full adaptation.

Is it me or this Kishimoto hate is a little bit exaggerated? Just looking through the comments on Twitter and Facebook, is a quite something.
Yeah, I mean, personally I got a laugh out of the whole thing mostly because of the irony of it being axed in the same issue they announced Kubo's return, but this whole thing has gone a bit overboard I feel like. Can't say I liked the series, though, because I really didn't, but that's another matter.

The arc was around 220 chapters long. I'd say the first 100 chapters were great with the first 50 of the 100 being everything what Bleach fans wanted it to be. Hype levels were through the roof throughout those 50 chapters from the fights and revelations and it was indeed the best way to start the arc. Portrayed the threat of the war just like how it should've been.

The next 50 (after the initial 100) were decent because it gave us all the fights and revealed the abilities of most of the characters which we had wanted to see since forever. The last 50 or so chapters were an okay hit (at best) or a bad miss (at worst) depending on which ones we are talking about. Some twists with character powerups made sense and were insane, some were like huh what (looking at you, Toshiro) and some were just unnecessary (Yourichi).

I think the way Kubo handled Ichigo in the last 20 chapters was bad solely because I think he wanted to draw those 20 chapters out more but fucked up his timing to WSJ about when the series would end and just rushed everything.
Think that's one thing this anime can fix. They can add whatever they want to, whatever Kubo wants to and make it way better.

Kubo actually said after year after the end of Bleach that he kept going for longer until he had reached the conclusion he was satisfied with.

Bleach last arc was pretty much Arrancar arc again with crazier powers. I don't really see how people can dislike specifically the last arc but not the stuff beforehand, it's the kind of stuff we'd had since Soul Society arc but more creative (except the final battle which was pretty bad).

She'd probably sue them for this type of parody LUL
JK Rowling loves fanfics and parodies, she'd probably try to make it canon somehow.

I know he said that, but I'm not sure I completely believe him.

You don't build up a main character for an entire 200+ chapter arc and then have him not showcase his ultimate power.

Seriously, that Bankai reveal was insulting on so many levels.

I wonder how will the people of now react in 2030s or 2040s about for example, My Hero Academia getting something. Just thinking on 10s legacy stuff.

Personally I thought a shitton of stuff that happened just made no sense whatsoever, starting from the very beginning of the arc. Quincies being the enemies just felt kind of weird because they just did not feel threatening at all throughout the series (like, the last time they were even actually somewhat strong was when Uryu fought Mayuri, and that was supposed to be like peak Quincy since he could absorb unlimited reiatsu from his surroundings in the SS), and when they appeared and just started
stealing BANKAIS
I was like, huh? I guess this is a thing now.

I’d probably be really hyped, not gonna lie. I’ll probably get the same way with Demon Slayer... unless Shueisha wants Gotouge back for another hit as soon as possible, but as we’re seeing now, that isn’t a guarantee.

Not just the bankai reveal. The way to beat Ywach was just rushed through as well. It's very clear Kubo rushed through the final few chapters and I'm very sure it's because he fucked up his timeline on what he told WSJ about when the series is ending. Sorachi kept delaying the end because the series went longer than he thought it would. Kubo probably just thought "Fuck it" and finished it.

That said, the last 2 chapters were done satisfactorily. They were neither rushed nor did they feel out of place. It's very clear that Kubo had the last 2 chapters planned beforehand.
And I actually think that's what he meant by "satisfactory" with how he ended it because those 2 chapters were indeed good.

Cmon......JJK and Yuuna color pages.....

I also find the Kishimoto axe and Kubo return to be a hilarious coincidence, but something tells me that this could have been planned, is this punishment for Kishi failing to live up to the push?

Well keep in mind that this was all suppose to announced at a convention on this week anyway. So probably just a weird coincidence

Certainly, although the pace had increased in the last chapters, when reading chapter 42, Kishimoto continues to add new information that seems to have to be relevant for later.
It also does not help that they announce that the series ends just when they publish the last chapter, without prior notice, so
so maybe they punished him or maybe it's just a great coincidence.

Frankly, looking at Samurai 8, I can't even feel "glee" at its cancellation now.

All I feel is frustration at the sheer wasted potential. With most cancelled series, I can just go "Yeah, this didn't work, moving on", but S8? It was a series that did have a lot going for it. It was a once in a generation return! And yet...it went nowhere. It went nowhere, and died a slow, humiliating death, because of its own failings and Kishimoto's inability to change.

I've been through a lot because of the series, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a sense of satisfaction regarding me proving myself right against people I hated...but looking at the series itself just makes me feel empty.

I dunno, just sharing my thoughts.

I doubt it's "punishment", I don't think there are any hard feelings there, it's an industry and sometimes a series works sometimes it doesn't, it's not like Shueisha is going to hold a freakin grudge against an author that gave them one of their biggest series ever just because they wasted some money on a push considering how small of a fraction of the money Kishimoto made for them that push actually was.

Just an (un?)lucky coincidence that ended up being quite funny, but it is what it is.

Worse yet some of those people are starting to say that the same thing wouldn't have happened with Kubo because he's a better mangaka...
