Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

You do realize that's still adolescence, right?
I think you fail to realize the case here

To a young kid, someone like Luffy and Zoro for example are much cooler than Midoriya and Bakugo. Their age plays a certain role in that unless you think that a 17 year old young man acts the same with a 14 year old kid

Midoriya and Bakugou are both 16 and about to turn 17 lol. Actually, that's all of 1-A.

It's not really about the age but the vibe and attitudes, the age gap can be like 1 year but both Midoriya and Bakugou behave like current 16 years old teens while Luffy ironically had always this more "adult" vibe around him, you could definitely see he wasn't a typical teenager from the beginning but more like a young adult, this was something that i found interesting when i started to read OP, that despite the personality Luffy was more like a young adult than a teen.

I have no clue what this convo is about. But I have never seen anyone describe Luffy as behaving “adult like”

You guys are totally ignoring Mori King’s ranking, which is pretty darn good. I’m already a huge fan of the series, and apparently I’m the only one here rooting for it to survive. LET’S GOOOO MORI KING

I have no clue what this convo is about. But I have never seen anyone describe Luffy as behaving “adult like”
This is why i put "ironically" because despite everything Luffy always had this more "adult like" atmosphere around him, i never felt like reading/watching a teenager going to the sea as a pirate captain but a young adult, specially when everybody around him also looks like a bunch of young adults and he's stronger than all of them.

...Luffy in the original Japanese talks like a child.

What the hell are you talking about?

By that logic Goku in the first part of Dragon Ball is a "young adult".

What does caring about meat have to do with adulthood?

Luffy is more mature(enotionally) in some ways, way too childish in others.
You mean the same Luffy who had a complete mental breakdown after his brothers death and had to be snapped out of it by Jinbe?

Like, this isn't me talking about if One Piece is good or not, claiming Luffy, the characters whose simple to the point Oda avoids giving him internal thoughts, emotionally mature is factually incorrect. Especially if you're arguing he's somehow more mature than Deku, Tanjiro, etc.

Something so simple but yet so hard to some understand, isn't about literally how Luffy talks or his personality per se, is about his vibe and everything surrounding him, despite his personality, he never exuded a typical teenager vibe like you have with many of the Jump main characters, but of a young adult, his interactions, the cast around him, the adventures, nothing is like what a typical teenager is supposed to be or lived, he could be like 1 year older than Midoriya, but the atmosphere and surrounds are totally different with Midoriya being a lot teenage-ish than Luffy (That's just one example btw), while reading BNHA feels totally like following a typical teenager journey, OP had always feels like more of a young adult journey, with now feeling even more like a adult one.

Elaborate. Actually elaborate on what you mean.

You can't just say "Luffy carries himself like an adult" without giving an argument.

I think I get what you mean now, I agree. While childish in personality Luffy definitely feels like a formed person rather than a growing teenager.
