Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Speaking of Ghostwriter, no one's gonna mention the obvious MHA influence?
Maybe because it's not so obvious?

I'm not even sure what you're referring to, even.

I think he's referring to the fact that the MC really wants to get serialized but is constantly turned down by his editor, almost to the point of giving up, but then he manages to pull through (with some help) and ends the chapter with the opportunity to achieve what he so desperately wanted.

Maybe I'm missing something, but that sounds extremely commonplace.

Does MHA have a trademark on that circumstance or something? >_>

So, a MC who has a goal but struggles to achieve it, but has help from someone else... That's like half of jump series ever lol

Well, if that's the case then there's BC influence on it. The mc not giving up, getting an opportunity and go forward with his dream, is not Bnha trademark or something.

Like, seriously? I'm the only one who noticed??

I was talking about the MC mumble jumble about his creative process, much in the same way Deku analyzes his heroic methods. If that ends up being a character trait repeated throughout the next generation starting with this one, then that's one thing MHA has influenced, much like how Goku created the MC template for SJ battle MCs.

It felt more like Yuuna and Shokugeki than anything else of the current line-up to me.

Couldn't tell you why, but for some reason that's the image it gives me.

Well you can't say it was bnha specifically that influenced it.... A lot of people mumble jumble their thoughts when working in real life

That wasn't a character trait, it was just the series' way of infodumping his backstory.

Uh, having the protagonist talk about their thought process is not exactly something that MHA introduced. Especially not for non-battle shonen series.

It could be both. It's only one chapter, but if this does end up being a recurring trait, then that's where the MHA influence comes in.

Yes, but Deku takes it up to a 100x that results in one big mumbo jumbo that most folks have a hard time understanding.

TPGW has a very nice first chapter, Date’s art is as solid as ever, some of the moments actually hit home ver hard. Definitely had the best first chapter of 2020.
Even If I got spoiled about it the ending had a nice twist There, so curious to see where things go. Can go either way from here on, so I hope it doesn’t looses steam

Chainsaw Man and Mashle should form The madlads alliance. Curious to were Act Age is going.

Mitama and Yozakura definitely feel like they could either set up another arc or set up a finale, guess it a to early to tell

Kimetsu’s final chapter on itself was a good happy ending, a bit to much fanservice-y like someone said, it’s not the best ending ever nor a very unique but I’ll take it. Will look forward to Gotoge’s next work

Well! Great week for the newbies !

- Time Paradox GhostWriter was realy great, good pacing, great art and an interesting plot ! I'm really looking forward to how the story will be developed.
- Moriking was funny, and the introduction of a new character was cool.
- Bone collection was perhaps the weakest one out of the three newbies, but was still cool, and I think the upcoming arc can be great. Hopefully it will not be too centered on comedy and more on fights !

- Mashle was a blast this week, it made me really laught couples of time ! I'm really enjoying it !
- UxU was cool too, and the next chapter is quite promising !
- GoTW was meh, I don't think this one will survive (and its sales were not great). Too bad, I liked its universe.

- Mitama was fun this week, and seems like we will get a new arc in the few next chapters !
- Yozakura was fine, the plot is slowly moving forward, but I really wish the serie would get a more serious tone.

Honorable mentions to Chainsawman and TPN, really liked this week chapter.

So long goodbye to Demon Salyer, this was great !!

Finally this week had a lot of great chapters this week, despise GoTW, I think each serie had a good chapter !

Again, that's really not a thing that Deku started. Hell, the thought process explanations go much more in depth in things like death note or bakuman just to stay in WSJ than they ever did in MHA.

Time paradox made me look up Weekly Shonen Jump issue# 24, 2010. Onepiece is the only series from back then. But lol, Hunter × Hunter was already in Ch. 308 back then. We have had just 82 chapters since then, time flies!

For those interested, here is the ToC

  • Metallica Metalluca Ch. 1
  • One Piece Ch. 584 (Crocodile and Mr. 1 Cover Page)
  • Naruto Ch. 494
  • Katekyō Hitman Reborn! Ch. 289

Curious question. Has any of you had this desire to draw/write manga?
I surely have, I'm such a ShonenJumptard lol... (can't draw a pickle tho.)

Time Paradox Ghost , very cool concept. Got my interest.
