Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

It must suck for a manga author to get cancelled that early. Like 2 volumes already seems bad, but 1 is quite rough.
Yeah but it's also something everyone is aware of when trying to get popular in WSJ.

Yeah I suppose most authors probably realise that's the cost of aiming for WSJ, they could go somewhere else and get at least 6 months if they were really anxious about failing.

Actually I'm curious, what's the average chapter number weekly sunday/magazine/champion tend to cancel big flops at? WSJ seems to typically end the total flops somewhere between ch 12 - 20 or so.

This wasn't a MHA thing, my dude.
Really? An MC who has a habit of overanalyzing his actions and talks himself up a storm and word vomits everything in his mind, while looking like a weirdo to outsiders.

Preview of issue #25 (HQ)

Wait, is that a oneshot by Tosh? Please tell me Tsukuda's not at the helm.

EDIT: It is. Well, that's a massive buzzkill...

Usually 30-50 chapters across the board, though there are a few outliers here and there. I think that Magazine usually leans toward around 30 chapters while Sunday and Champion are on the 50-ish side. Jump Plus also gives its flops a similar amount of time, and Young Jump is all over the place.

This doesnt mean anything but seeing TGP have an Shonen Jump American Football manga was pretty cool. At least someone has the sport in mind, wouldnt mind seeing another take at it

Not too sure about Magazine and Sunday, but recent Champion flops (Komoura-san, Dorakon, Shabaou, Toubousha Elio, probably) lasted for about 4 volumes on average. Number of chapters vary (probably due to the amount of pages each chapter has). But I'd say Champion is overall more lenient than Jump when it comes to this sort of thing - though there were a few times where they just axed three series at once.

MANGAHELPERS "TOC" POLL ISSUE #24 (2020) - IMPORTANT CHANGE!

The poll for issue #24 of Shonen Jump is now open, I made a change to see how it goes, isn't anything complex, is just that this week both traditional poll and the comment voting are in the same thread instead of separated, now you can make the comment ranking your top 5 and vote for your 5 chapters in the poll in the same place! You can vote both ways HERE!

The extra chapters this week are Jigokuraku 98 and Spy x Family 27.

Good votes!

Watch somebody sending in a "White Knight" manuscript to Jump in 2030 and that gonna happen 20+ times and Jump can pick out the best "White Knight" outta the bunch. XD
The manga he read was obviously a reference to Yoru wo Higashi ni, which is currently running in Jump+. Give it a read, it’s worth it

Sign finally updated, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Samurai 8 and Zipman were cut and Moriking, Bone Collection and Ghostwriter added!
It's really weird to see Yozakura, Mitama and Agravity not on the bottom layer, really goes to show how much of the magazine is newbies right now.

And it will only increase with Neverland, Yuuna, Haikyuu and WNL all ending this or next year.

So apparently, "Hunter x Hunter", "resume serialization" and "Kurapika" have started trending on Japanese Twitter. Does anyone know what started this? There's no news about the series, but there are already thousands of tweets.

Either way, it's nice to see that the series can still trend despite being on hiatus for almost two years now! There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm among the people tweeting, lol!

Looks like stores are limiting sales of this WSJ issue to one per person due to popularity.

Someone earlier said that Ghostwriter debuting in the very issue that Kimetsu ends is potentially one of the best things that can happen to the former, right?

Yeah, I think Ghostwriter actually has the best chances in a while to survive - as long as it continues to be good. There's gotta be some Kimetsu readers spilling over from this, especially since it's plastered in the front of the magazine as something brand new. So if it can attract and maintain even a small fraction of that audience, it'll do very well in the newbiebowl.

I think it shows the editorial confidence in the series, as in they thought this series was the best one of the batch and wanted it to get attention imho. There's no way it's just a coincidence that they have this series start in what is likely going to be one of the most sold WSJ issues in years.

It's basically the whole Tanaka Seiji situation where the one shot won the GFC because it was published in the issue Kochikame ended, it was so popular that was the first Jump issue ever to get a reprint.

The one shot will be horror themed
Looks like a horror series about spirits, the google translator says "Jugen and the Spiritual Class", that would be really cool if is something like Neuro with both main characters resolving spirits stuff and misteries

So for Jump issue 3-4 of 1995, was that the issue with the highest circulation or sales, or both?

Horror, huh? I'm interested, but the knowing the artist, this could be more like Yuuna than an actual horror manga. Wonder if they are testing this one-shot to see if it can replace Yuuna when it ends.
