Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Can you clarify me this award is legit or it's just like a fan poll?
Its basically a popularity poll made by an actual magazine that usually contains information about anime, posters, miscellanious, etc., and each issue always has this type of polls showing the top popular female and male characters. While not as scuff as CR thing, its still awards driven by popularity instead of a judge or critics like some others Awards.
Nothing bad but also nothing really that important to look into.

Anyone here read much of Spring Weapon no 1 to compare it with Moriking? I only read the first 3 chapters, but the basic outline feels incredibly similar between the two series. To the point where it feels like the same manga but insects instead of robots.

i got to 19 translated chapters. Spring Weapon has a lots of poop jokes. I think Moriking takes risk on Insect Joke, which is a little bit more fresh. But I think they are still very similar to each other
But Moriking setting is in the summer + kid cast, so it has the freedom to do a lots of thing Spring Weapon couldn't (highschool setting, so most of the chapters take place in high school)

Hmmmm when I click on Dragon Ball source it says it have 250 000 000 worldwide sales and 180 000 000 Japan and I can't find anywhere a place that it could have sold for 350 000 000. :X
The Oricon link in Source 3 states the 350M. The number for DB is still as sketchy as it gets since it was later started as 250M worldwide. I should make some notes there.

TPN feels like we missed a chapter somewhere. Also I was kind of hoping to see them struggle fitting in, but I guess that won't be happening (unless they do add some more chapters...).

TPGW: Please tell her. Please. I will lose all respect for you if you try to send her away with some excuse.

Mashle was interesting with some nice gags. Anyone else feel sorry for the walking stick unicorn skeleton sorting hat thing? And then we have the triple line guy at the end, who looks like the first actual bad guy of the series. But at least he's polite. Like Frieza.

The one-shot was really good. The bride thing feels like it will get old fast, but aside from that, they could make it into a series no problem.

Bone Collection is starting to feel like the kind of series where people can't communicate properly and it's annoying. Also, laughing at your exposition dump doesn't make it any less of an exposition dump.

MHA was very tense. First chapter that got me immersed in ages (I'm a casual reader, so I don't even remember most of the characters here, but for this chapter it wasn't needed).

Dr Stone is picking up speed.

Yozakura is almost entirely serious, but interesting. Such a pretty old lady.

Shaman Moriking looks like it isn't turning into a battle series after all, or at least not yet.

WNL is losing the last bit of interest I had in it. This format would be cool if you could release all five alternate endings at once, but reading it weekly is really boring because we already know pretty much exactly where the story is going and there's no suspence waiting for the finale since there isn't one.

UU has some nice (re)introductions. I'm a bit bored of the 'demon inside' trope, so I hope this doesn't happen every time, but it's nice to see the team in action.

Mitama was rather uneventful, it's a set-up chapter. I wonder if stripe dude is plotting something.

AGBoys was.. well, like I said before, it gets points for originality. Though I was kind of expecting Geralt to come in at the end and go "Actually, all of these answers are wrong, I made all that stuff up." Missed chance IMO.

Guardian of the Witch was actually kind of decent this week. Too bad we didn't see this 10 chapters sooner. I still think the extremely slow pace of chapter 2-5 is what killed it (mostly).

Mashle: Lol, those 3 houses are so exact like in HP, not even a surprise. Still a scary school if you are allowed to do that to your fellow comrades without any punishment whatsoever.
Isn't that also exactly like HP? Let's face it, that school was never a safe place.

Haikyu!: Starting to lose oversight over who is who and what flashback is what for...
This is the reason why the series lost me in this arc. Too many people, too little coherent story.

Dr. Stone: What do you mean that's a GUY?
RIGHT???

I had to check for boobs to make sure that wasn't a typo. What a shame, we could use another action woman.

I kinda hate that M+ doesn't translate the promotional texts. Like it would be nice to have the text that announces the anime for Jujutsu. MediaDo's translation of Render has those texts, why not Viz/M+?
The Spanish chapters on M+ have them. You could use the feedback box and ask why they aren't included in the English version, they might just decide to change it (since it's different in both versions, they probably never really thought about it and just left it to the translators).

The Promised Neverland officially has, by far, the worst ending, and final arc I’ve ever read from a Jump series.

Anyway, MHA, and Time Paradox were favs for me
Meh, food wars is way worse

Guys even tho the quality of TPN dropped, the sales are still really good. I wonder how cuz normally when a series goes down in quality for such a long period, you expect the sales too
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Idk how bone collection even got green lighted. No offense to the author, I know how hard it can be to be an manga and in even every art industry but cmon. Lol this is such a waste of space, axe fodder since day 1

Because its sales are dropping, lol. But having a loyal fanbase + being short makes it feasible to just keep buying. Still, there was a 40k drop with Vol. 18 and 3 days less, so that should speak enough. Minimum 2 more volumes coming out, and still could go on if Shirai wants.

Even Soma took a while before the drop became really evident, Neverland's sales ARE dropping but you're not going to see it lose 100k or 200k sales per volume because that's just not how it works.

The best source I saw I think is 279 603 000 sales :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball_(manga)

Oricon's 350 000 000 sales number might be inflated to promote the movie.

The German anime/manga magazine Japaniac did an interview with Posuka and Shirai. I won't translate everything here, but two quick answers that might be of interest for this thread.
Japaniac: Shirai-sensei, Demizu-sensei, since The Promised Neverland became such a great hit, you've certainly received plenty of feedback. Was there any feedback that you still remember because it was so special?

Shirai:
Yes, I'd like to bring up one instance of feedback from overseas. In the early days, I read feedback from the US, in which readers speculated about the question of "Where is the transmitter?". The speculations were mostly "It's near the number on their throat" or "The number itself is the transmitter." In Japan, people thought the transmitter could be in the arm, the shoulder or the heart. Reading that, I thought the technology in the US must be amazing. (Maybe the feedback was like that by chance.) In any case, it was interesting to see the international differences.
Interesting to hear about mangaka reading international comments. I wonder if that has increased now that they know that Western readers have a legal way to read manga at the same time as Japan.

Japaniac: Shirai-sensei, Demizu-sensei, since The Promised Neverland releases weekly, can you tell us a bit about how you create this masterpiece on a weekly basis and what a day of work is like for you?

Shirai:
Day 1: Deliberations (for the storyboard of the upcoming week).

Day 2: Discussing with the editorial and checking Demizu-sensei's draft from the previous week.

Day 3-5: Creating the first storyboard [version], hand it in and get feedback from the editorial. And also check the drawn pages from the previous week.

Day 6-7: Improve the storyboard and checking the finished pages with text; then handing in the improved storyboard as the final version.

Back to Day 1: Deliberations.

Demizu: For draft, outline and detailed drawings, I plan with two days for each, so six days overall. In between that, I work on color illustrations for the volume release.
Always interesting to read about work schedules for mangaka.

Just FYI - Wikipedia is not a source, for anything.

That said, I'm sure someone will have a legit source for those numbers.
