Moderator Notice: Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.
These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

why's everyone complaining about too much gags? the first 2 are obviously romcoms
Tamura will most likely do mixed comedy/battle again, (wasn't Nirai kanai a oneshot too? I'm pretty sure it was in Beelzebub Maou Gaiden book)
and the last one is the only gag
not to mentions some of the gags will definitely get axed
anyway, new serialization round means it's time for my tradition
Kei Kamiki fav manga: Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children, G Senjou Heavens Door
Shuuhei Miyazaki's fav manga: Slam dunk, Dragon ball
Dunno if this has been addresed, but after the new batch ends, we will be with 11 newbies and 9 veterans (and the year has a chance of end with 12 newbies, 7 veterans, and Yozakura reaching chapter 60).

What is worrying me now is the spokon situation in Jump. What will happen if Haikyuu truly ends when the current game ends? I guess we will have a spokon just after Haikyuu ending, but for safe measures I'd have prefered the spokon being serialized before Haikyuu ending.
On the other hand I'm really interested in Yabuki's manga. We know Yabuki has done a lot of stuff, but this is the first manga he's the writter since Black Cat, 20 years ago.

I'm trying do to a list to see what author has had the biggest year gap between his first series in WSJ and his last series.
Yabuki first series was in 1999, his last one in 2020 - 21 years gap.
Kishimoto - 1999-2019 - 20 years
Inagaki - 2003-2017 - 14 years
Kurumada - 1974-1992 - 18 years
Motomiya - 1968 - 1986 - 18 years
Katsura - 1983-1997 - 14 years
Yoichi Takahashi - 1981-1999 - 18 years
Miyashita - 1978-1994 - 17 years
Morita - 1988-2005 - 17 years
PS: Araki if we separate JoJo in the 6 parts would be 1983 - 2004, also 21 years. I'm not inclined to separate Jojo though
PS2: Dunno if counting Jaco or The Comiq If I count The Comiq, Kazuki Takahashi 1991-2018 27 years. If I count Jaco, Toriyama 1980-2013 33 years
It isn't the longest, but Obata should be in the list you posted at least. His first series in Jump was Cyborg Jii-chan G in 1989 under a pen name. So it's been 19 years between that and Bakuman in 2008.
Probably because they got told that the TPG author said he gonna end the series prematurely. But I think they just misunderstood the spoilers and it is Teppei who can't deal with the guilt of being a plagiarist while the real creator got her 10 years later fame stolen by him. Or something like that. I can't see TPG ending up as an U19 series though I do hope dearly that Teppei shows Aino the truth soon enough. Girl deserves knowing that her idea was a big hit in the future. And then the two can work it out together from now on what to do. Like I would have liked the idea of Teppei telling his Editor that Aino is the writer and he is the artist, kinda like Bakuman, but that due her age she wanted him to send it in as his own work. That way Aino gets recognition and Teppei gets to tell the world a story he wants the world to know though for now it is not his. And after WK finished they could go their separate rival ways and come up with new own ideas. It would be better than the "solution" of ch.3 or at least I would like that more than the end of ch.3.
Or like Aino becoming Teppei's assistant, like damn, it just feels so wrong...

I was just thinking that. It's now another transitional phase for WSJ for the next year or so. TPN, Yuuna, people assume HQ and WNL will also end sometime this year.

man, what you're saying is a conclusion for the manga.
Besides, if that happened, where would time travel be in all of this?
You are treating this like bakuman, and it is not bakuman.
Seriously what is the editor and chief doing. Yes I know gag manga is one of shonen jump’s most important genres but so is the sports and battle shonen genre. Again, since haikyuu is ending why would he not do another sports ip this early so that he can test the waters and see if they got another sports hit on there hands. Then maybe do another one the next batch of series just to be sure they are good on the sports side.
On top of that kimetsu no yaiba and the promised neverland are ending so why not have at it with a darker battle shonen series (because there were plenty of good one shots of that catagory on shonen jump plus and jump giga). I just don’t get his thinking because while yes gag manga can be good it can’t carry the magazine unless it is gintama quality.
I seriously hope there are no gag manga the next batch because they have plenty of gag. Mori king is the slice of life comedy, mitama is the crazy and over the top comedy, mashel is the parody action comedy, and mission yozakura family is a mixture of slice of life and action.

Timetravel could come as in FutureAino getting sick and having a hiatus so Teppei and Aino have to think of their own if they don't want to "copy" the hiatus as well. Or WK could end prematurely in the future WSJ while in the current time WSJ WK's popularity knows no end so the two have to figure out how to bring the story to a new and satisfying end.

@Lil meen I too miss a good new sport manga to replace Haikyu!...

Kei Kamiki is a romcom? According to GIGA oneshot it looks more like horror TPN style

I imagine it's because we still have a popular ongoing sports manga. We have no long-running gag manga right now, Mitama's still around, Mashle seems like it may be a hit (and is half battle), and Moriking's untested, but none of them are guaranteed to be here long term yet.
