Shaman King Manga Gets Brand-New TV Anime Next April

Anime to adapt all 35 volumes of new complete edition by Hiroyuki Takei

New Shaman King anime: April 2021.

As much as I am glad my childhood anime is back, it doesn't feel right knowing that it is no longer a Jump property anymore.

[Kobī-Stan]

I still have Power of Spirits on PS2 This is a wonderful announcement.

[Newkerzy]

Dammit, it’s region-locked. Anybody can make a mirror out of it?

Could it be like HunterxHunter 2011? Where its godlike? (Haven't read the manga or watched the anime btw)

[Tamil]

Wait, do you mean Studio M2? If this is the case, then I'm even more excited.

https://twitter.com/SHAMANKING_PR Official Twitter. This is legit.

EDIT2: https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-n...anga-author-refused-an-offer-for-anime-remake So, goign off of this, we can assume that the original voice cast will be returning, in addition to the original composer of the soundtrack?

Yep.

That's what I was wondering too

[SharkBait]

I thought Shaman King is Kodansha. Why is it being talked about in a JUMP thread?

It was Jump, and presumably this covers content from that time period.

[Newkerzy]

Thanks! Now imagine if Slam Dunk got a remake...it’d be like Squeenix announcing the FFVII remake 5 years ago.

[Bodoro]

If its Studio Voln, I think they will skip chapters that aren't too important like Ushio and Tora and Karakuri Circus.

I never read it or watched it, but it looks cool and I heard good things. I'm hyped

[Tamil]

No surprise but SK is trending in Japan rn

[Azure Warrior]

If this is a Hunter x Hunter style reboot, I hope it can be as great.

Maruyama said he wanted to work on SK & Kenshin iirc. So I guess Kenshin is next from him, not sure if he still plans on doing it because of the scandal.

In general Kinnikuman & not really a remake but give Takeshi an anime.

Animation studio has nothing with runtime/skipping chapters. It all depends on the episode count the production committee/TV studio gives it and the series composer that's put on the project and has to work within the count. Those series only had a finite amount of episodes to adapt manga with hundreds of chapters. Cuts were inevitable.

If the anime is already in production, I hope that it's long-running like HxH and FMA (that could explain the far off airdate). I haven't read the manga before so I'm very excited to watch the anime!
