Personal speculation of course, but Spy x Family is clearly inspired by the Tamura playbook. So I find it kind of odd that when Tamura returns after a failure it's with something very similar to Spy x Family on paper. Perhaps he may not be threatened, however it's not hard to see how this series could clearly be a response to Spy x Family and possibly a personal one from Tamura

It's not a leap to assume a series about a father employed in an investigative agency with an adopted daughter who has supernatural abilities would read similarly to Spy x Family. Especially when Tamura is the one behind it.
Also, are you trying to imply the first handful of UxU chapters weren't extremely problematic? Toning down that element of the series doesn't erase it's existence.
Also, I've ever said anything about Nak. Don't put words in my mouth.
Beelzebub already has father figure and supernatural child as main character pair. He didn't ape of or react to sxf success.
And detective to spy is a huge leap of reach.
Your UU early judgement is ignoring forest for a tree. It was offensive, and tbh, I didn't like it. But the author made it work somehow, unlike how you called it dead on arrival.
And Nak statement is pointing toward other user.
But personally to me, Nak’s record haven’t been thrilling ever since he took over. It feels like he just tries whatever. Although it’s true that successes can come unexpectedly in the history of Jump, just randomly throwing darts blindly and hope it sticks isn’t a sustainable business model. There’s a reason why there’s so much criticism against the animanga industry practices nowadays.
Recency bias.
Under Nak, we have act-age, chainsawman, jujutsu kaisen.
And what is publishing but throwing shit at the wall. You never know what gonna work.
also Eden's Zero Anime announced and Tokyo Revengers anime announced pretty close to yonkou's announcement. Not saying we shouldn't be wary... but Fire punch??????????
Eh. Not sure what your comment is about. Neither are part of WSJ.
Predicting anime announcements for popular series is as hard as touching your own head.
If Mashle reaches 100k in sales, It'll get an anime. There, you heard it here first. Please go and spread my name around and ask people to worship and follow me despite the fact that I had zero artistic contribution in Mashle but merely predicted something obvious.
I don't know how many times we have to repeat this, but the reception of a chapter doesn't show up in the following issue, it takes weeks until it happens.
I know that, I was talking about this being the rank of ch.12 Spoil. I didn't expected it to rank in top5s and that the CP before was given because it did well enough to receive a push, not because it is an amazing seller/has a huge fandom. So for ch.12 to be the first top5 placement, at least from what I remember, for UU is a surprise for me.

True, I admittedly suppose. After the Big 3 era, and the M+ platform launching, the turnover does feel more so than previous eras have, even though it’s been pretty much that way since the beginning. I do honestly feel that some series are serialized without being vetted enough to see if it has a good chance of surviving though.
For these series “experience” feels like an excuse sometimes for an obviously poor work from the beginning.

Uhm, are you claiming that detectives and spies don't have very similar duties? It's not even a step, let alone a leap. Also Tamura can be both recycling Beelzebub and be exploiting the popularity of the already similar Spy x Famiy.
Also, if you reread my posts from then I never called UxU DOA. I said I would be disappointed if Jump readers voted it to success, but never precluded it from success. In fact , to the contrary I actually brought up other examples within other ump series with similar offensive gags to show that UxU didn't set a precedent and that series having gags like that didn't preclude it from success.
Tbh I kind of like the series now, but I still think the sexual assault gags early on were absolutely the wrong choice and it saddens me that Japan is still so socially regressive.
It is but I think Tozuka did that to show how Andy was like before meeting and getting to know Izumo: An Immortal who couldn't care less about anything else except reaching his goal to finally die. But if we compare his first two chapters acting with the latest ones then we see that he did start to care about others especially when you compare Andy with Victor who is plain ruthless and has no problem sacrificing others to be replaced by in his opinion stronger Negators to reach his goal which at this moment we can only guess at but certainly it is not like Andy's goal. In other words Andy changed a lot in 20 chapters but for that change to be viable you needed a starting point which were the first couple chapters which painted Andy in a quite controversial light/shadow as seen here on several pages when it was first released.

Ah, so you were talking about Yozakura's last place placement then.
More specifically, I'm talking about you saying Ayakashi Triangle already got a great reception when they wouldn't know in time to make this ToC and push Yozakura all the way to the bottom as a fodder.
How? It is what it is. The Big 3 dominated Jump during their run, numbers and name recognition speak for themselves, not to mention that they were gateways for the magazine as a whole. People calling them that shouldn’t be dismissed or sneered upon. They’re just calling it that way to refer to their achievements within the magazine.
Am I the only one who finds Shakunetsu no Niraikanai more similar to nuero supernatural detective than spy x family. I seriously don’t get the comparison between spy x family and Shakunetsu no Niraikanai. Detective manga has been popular in Japan for ages, it is just big in other magazines.

I am not denying their quality. My issue is, they all went on for too long, over 15 years. One Piece is acceptable, I guess. But do we need the dragged out arcs in Naruto and Bleach? Those precious time could be used to create and push more new interesting hit? This causes stagnation.

Except this is a detective manga written by Tamura about a detective who adopts a little girl with supernatural abilities. You don't have to be a market analyst to see this as a response to Spy x Family. There will always be imitators of a popular product.

Luckily, police brutality is not a major issue in Japan ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Except it is against foreigners.
Regardless, this is a stupid argument and I'm done with it.
It's like trying to claim Jabberjaw wasn't a response to Scooby Doo because a shark isn't a dog.
Moving on.
Hmm, following @Rica logic here, let's just call mha a sky high rip off.
Not everything is the world is a marketing ploy and grand conspiracy. If so, where is my KnY and TPN imitators?
Can we please wait until the first chapter is actually out before complaining about the plot? It's not even this week's series, we won't see it until next Sunday.
Anyway, it's not like SPY x FAMILY has a monopoly on its material. Spies, supernatural stuff, and family SOL were already super common in media, these were already "trends".
It's not like we know anything specific about Tamura's new series anyway.

Sky high came out a decade earlier. Not a strong argument.
You are refusing to see what's right in front of you.
Again, Jabberjaw must be completely different than Scooby Doo because sharks aren't dogs.

What about father figure and supernatural child? Did sxf ape of this from Beelzebub?
And you are going to claim this is different because spy is not delinquent.
See, I can play this game too.
The point is, you just see the premise, and instantly rush to conclusions that this is some conspiracy, market research ploy.
Sometimes, life is full of coincidence, like 5toubun and wnl.
Happened upon what I think is the official Jump YouTube channel while I was searching for evidence that may indicate a manga's survival. They've got a repository of recent manga PVs. This one came out on May 19, 2019, and it showcased the established series in the lineup:
I wonder if they'll update this, because a hell of a lot has changed since then. I'm surprised Chainsaw Man wasn't on here considering it had been running for 5 to 6 months by then and was selling well. Samurai 8 is there because well, Shueisha really wanted to shill that series."
There's been an update to our forum rules to broaden crediting/sourcing to all series news/announcement, etc. Please read HERE
