Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Quick question: The view count we see in M+ are monthly views right? IIRC, M+ used to post the total views before stopping at some point.
M+ gives you the accumulative views of the last five weeks.

No idea why they chose five weeks instead of four...

Although, speaking of problematic things.
I do wonder if say Undead x Unluck and/or Pig & Dolphin would create any controversy in the west if they got anime adaptations.
I feel the first episodes for each would make getting on an actual tv network like Toonami a big roadblock. I'm sure they could end up on a streaming services however I could still see it drawing up some internet controversy. Especially if it got on something super mainstream like Netflix.
For UxU, I think they would just remove or play down the problematic scenes. There's only 2 or 3 of them and they aren't really important to the plot, so this could be done very easily. (The Japanese anime might even do it, if they want to avoid causing controverse with the first episode.)

Shark&Dolphin only has one really questionable scene so far, and it could be solved equally easily by changing some of the details (for example, have the culprit draw a gun first and suddenly the reaction of the cops will make a lot more sense). If they even bother, because cops acting like cowboys is still something most series can get away with, unfortunately.

(This video has a funny parody take on 'bad cop' series, starting at 15:18.)

So, I got an answer.

It's not what I expected, and at the same time is. Kinda 50/50, because it's not a copypaste but doesn't explain much either. The only thing I can almost extract from this? Is that it's not an error since they would have told me something like: "Huh, that's weird. We'll contact our development team!" as they have done already previous times. It's just weird. Anyway, pray for it to still be an error even if it doesn't seem like it anymore? and for it not to be anything serious.
It's certainly odd that they have no info about it. If it was suddenly on break surely they'd know by now since they get the chapters very early, but to not know anything makes me think it could just be a communication issue.

I don't know what kind of communication issue would result in one specific series not showing the next chapter date, but they're usually good about telling breaks.

They do have info, they just can't tell a random guy on Facebook actual confidential information about the series from the magazine. What the message is for in the end is to understand that's it's not likely for it to be an error on the app, but an actual serious issue ongoing.

For UxU Fire Force got on Toonami (though with slight censorship iirc) so I don't think it'd have a problem, honestly seems like a prime Toonami show. Cop and Dolphin doesn't even seem like the type of show Toonami or any other network would pick up anyway so any controversy would just be from streaming like say, Shield Hero.

Every review I read of Fire Punch suggests writing problems are extensively prevalent from start to finish in that, only further solidifies how wonky the writing in Chainsawman is.

Are you sure you dont mean Fire Force? If you meant that, then yeah, Fire Force is a greatly written manga, one of my favorite.
LMAOO, yoo noo u take that back,,

How is it a writing problem when its literally just twisting ur expectations, it's what u call great story telling. Not something like a flat standard 1 dimensional phasing like fire force

I will check out fire punch then, if the writer can wrap up a story, then I'm sure this feeling I have with Chainsaw man will go away as the series goes on.

Question for those who would know: is the 3 series for an author rule a real thing for WSJ? Obviously not a stated fact for the public (I imagine), but have there been mangaka with 4+ different series, either with some or no successes among them? I wonder if Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin doesn't last would Ryohei Tamura's time with the magazine effectively be over, since Beelzebub was a mid-tier success and Hungry Marie wasn't?

you could include young jump manga in the vote.
I think people would like to vote for kingdom, Kaguya or Terra formars

I'm sure it is a confirmed thing now, but I don't remember where exactly it was confirmed. It's not 3 series allowed in general though, the rule is that if they have 3 tries to get a hit and if all 3 flop, that's it. Masakazu Katsura has had 7 series in WSJ for example (a mix of hits and flops).

Tamura's fine since Beelzebub was a hit, but Moriking is probably Hasegawa's last chance in the magazine for example since he has two previous failures.

unless i've been out of the loop, thats on an indefinite hiatus for over a year. Why would it be voted on weekly?

They should already be translating and editing chapter 7 by now, and the author should have already finished and submitted chapter 8 to jump editorial. It would be impossible for a series to go on hiatus after the 4th chapter, as they are already working on the 5th by the time the serialization debuts. And even if there is something serious (maybe except for death, legal, criminal matter) would jump just throw out the finished chapters waiting for publication? No way. This is definitely just a mistake.

Not just because of this reasoning, but also because the SJ app does say its coming in 6 days.

Also loli and magical girls would not be functionally the same.
One is a word that means young girl, and the other is regarding a class of fictional characters that don't necessarily have to be underaged.
I don't mean that they're the same, I mean that they're the same for the purpose of the story. It just needed to be a reason for Arkham to idolize Chloe.

Mangaka are always way ahead of the chapter that is being published weekly in the magazine, but when breaks/pauses need to be done for any serialization, they decide to take the break even if there're still chapters finished and prepared to be serialized, so by the time the author comes back to their regular work schedule, the magazine publishes chapters already done and lets the author pick up their pace once again. As for chapters already done and prepared to be published, if a case such as death were to happen, the magazine would state the situation first and lastly publish those chapters remaining depending on the situation itself, as well as handling volumes and the rest. It being a mistake from the dev team of M+ is already almost discarded given the answer I received. At different situations I have already reported errors to them, and the answers received were clearly different.

As for the last statement about the SJ app, it pretty much shows you haven't completely read my post. Anyway, I'm not stating anything here in stone. But for some reason the point doesn't seem to go across no matter how I state it. Whatever.

And to add to this, someone just doing the art gets a pass so to speak. So presumably, if Ghostwriter doesn't work out, Date will still be able to have a series in the main magazine (at least doing the art), even after Tokyo Wonder Boys (art) and Cross Account (art + story).

See Obata as well.

I didn't know he did the art for Tokyo Wonder Boys.

His male characters look pretty different. I guess they want his male characters to look more attractive in Tokyo Wonder Boys.

That's interesting. I had no idea this was already confirmed, I thought it was still a rumor only. Anyone have some kind of source? I would like one if someone ask me someday lol
