Wasn't One Piece at 24 million copies in 12 volumes? Could SpyxFamily beat that potentially?

Unless the inevitable anime comes around and gives it a boost 2/3 or even 1/2 as good as Kimetsu's before that happens, I'm going to say no.

If anything, this would be beyond AssClass if you ask me. Probably somewhere around Bleach and that’s being very optimistic. Realistically name-recognition wise, (on a global scale) maybe RuroKen?
Beyond AssClass, Bleach? Talking about name recognition only?

Anyways I expect SpyxFamily to be the next series to beat One Piece per volume. Name recognition wise I expect it to be on Death Note's level, maybe a bit less. Very happy with SxF's success!

Already outsold everything from Haikyuu!! down. Not sure we can compare the previous volume to My Hero Academia's and The Promised Neverland's current ones because these have had less days during their first week (it should be ahead anyway given that it almost sold 500,000 copies in 3 weeks), but Spy x Family 5 is going to be released with My Hero Academia 28 so we'll have a clear vision of it (though I expect it to outsell My Hero Academia easily).
Wouldn’t count on that too much, imo. I think it’s gonna be pretty close. SxF might sell faster, but MHA 28 might stay in the charts longer, making it more competitive in total numbers.

In the long run, Spy x Family would win regardless. Spy x Family 3, which was released in January this year, sold 439,604 copies after 5 weeks. Meanwhile, My Hero Academia 25, which was released in December last year, sold 532,408 copies after 5 weeks. Despite this gap and being released later, by the time the half-year charts rolled in, Spy x Family 3 had already surpassed My Hero Academia 25. Spy x Family gets frequent reprints and the volumes keep selling super well. The outcome should be pretty obvious (unless My Hero Academia 28 grows, which is pretty unlikely).

Speaking of which, what is Spy x Family outselling currently?
Taking the most recent volume for each manga, we have:

01./ Demon Slayer (21) - 2,867,942 in 3 weeks
02./ One Piece (96) - 1,594,700 in 4 weeks
03./ Kingdom (58) - 708,296 in 4 weeks
04./ Attack on Titan (31) - 629,874 in 4 weeks
05./ March Comes in Like a Lion (15) - 571,357 in 4 weeks
06./ Spy x Family (4) - 539,783 in 4 weeks
07./ My Hero Academia (27) - 476,641 in 3 weeks
08./ The Promised Neverland (19) - 470,609 in 3 weeks
09./ Haikyu!! (43) - 465,659 in 4 weeks.
10./ One Punch Man (21) - 462,068 in 4 weeks

I didn't include Hunter x Hunter/Real and other manga on hiatus (NANA, Vagabond, etc) because their previous volume came out too long ago
I used the most recent volumes for DS/MHA/TPN even though they only have three weeks of sales because they each outsold what their previous volume did in 4 weeks. A fourth week for MHA/TPN shouldn't be enough for them to catch up to SxF, though they could switch place.
Also, both AoT and 3-gatsu have a limited edition that didn't chart in each of the four weeks, so their real number is probably a little bit higher than that, though nothing significant.

Imo, Spy X Family's 5th volume will sell a bit under 700k in 4 weeks next september. (Well, it might do even more if it receives a huge boost thanks to the talk show thing). And if it keeps selling at a similar pace every week, it will pass Kingdom with its 6th volume

Drawing a comparison between recent data to think of a possible outcome. The question of what Jump mangas Spy x Family has already outsold (I assumed it was regarding weekly sales) was brough up and then it was stated that the next Spy x Family volume probably wouldn't outsell My Hero Academia's upcoming volume (both being released on the same date) then I showed how despite being older, My Hero Academia 25 was already outsold by Spy x Family 3 this year. The age of the series are not in question, people are only curious. Who knows if there's something to gain from it, people like me like looking at data and comparing them, so this is our business.

I mean, comparing SxF 3 to MHA 3 would be much worse for MHA tho. MHA current sales is the 2nd best among the ongoing series. So it makes sense to compare current numbers to SxF current numbers.
Also, someone did ask the question of the series SxF has so far outsold. So, this answers that question.

the main reason we never see it in series, is because it basically only releases 1 volume, a year

which is the case to some other series as well

HxH (lol, 1 vol, is in a good year nowadays
Conan,
Silver spoon (same as hxh, also, ended)
WT honestly have a chance if it have a regular schedule

Just curious, what are the other 2 series recommended? And what other series in recent times were recommended before that helped with the series' sale?

The above one is Nobunaga wo Koroshita Otoko (another Sengoku manga xd) https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=142082
The bottom one is Metamorphose no Engawa (one about friendship between a high school girl and a granny via BL, got 1st place Kono Manga ga Sugoi 2019 for female and a Taisho nomination) https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=148187

Also remember Dr Stone, it got boost not due to anime but a talk show.
First KnY boost, before anime was another talk show as well.

TPN also got a few boosts from shows and awards (I believe) prior to its anime.

At this point I do have to wonder, is there a shift in Japanese viewing habits that Talk shows have become more influential in giving exposure to mangas that we don’t know about? Or am I completely off-base?

I dont think so.
Its not that different from the west, talk shows reach a casual reader audience that the usual channels don't reach, and the exposure increases sales naturally.

being that talk shows arent new its people who werent invested in manga sales recently are more widely now becoming informed and aware.

Vast majority of series get most of their exposure from anime. That said, there are always a select few that tend to get more exposure from sources outside the anime and this could be for a variety of reasons.

I'm assuming Dr. Stone's anime is passable at best (I haven't seen it but that's the general reception I've gathered from this forum). So a popular talk show that does a better job in making the series look enticing would definitely be providing more exposure. This happened with Kingdom as well which had a poor anime.

AC on the other hand had almost peaked out it's exposure prior to the anime due to all other forms of mentions and features. When the anime came (I've been told it was a decent/good adaptation), it didn't increase the sales by the percentage we typically see from a popular WSJ manga.
SxF could well be following AC's path. It might get close to reaching its full peak prior any anime adaptation.
