Designing covers for authors? How it is work? Telling them what to draw?Got around to reading that "The Right Way to Make Jump!" Some bits I thought were worth posting.
A Mr. Katsumata had designed series logos for half of Jump's series (+ one-shots) for 40+ years (e.g., Kochikame, Kinnikuman, Dr. Slump, Captain Tsubasa, Ring ni Kakero, Susume Pirates, Fist of the North Star, JJBA, One Piece, Naruto, Toriko, Kuroko's Basketball, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., Haikyu!!, Assassination Classroom, and Shokugeki no Soma).
The artist probably draws whatever they want to draw, and the designers probably just do what they can to make it work best as a cover; like placing the logo(or even making the logo), maybe the borders, or or patterns that repeat in the background. And like goes over into other things such as organizing the spine, the back, the inside sleeve, etc
I actually really like that cover. Also really like Quanxi. Wish he hadn't kind of written her out so quickly.

The covers of Yozakura and Time paradox ghostwhiter are very detailed, the authors have done.

Well, you could look at it the other way. Hers including the MC means she gets special treatment.
